Hello and welcome to jasonnewland.com. Hello, my name is Jason Newland. This is a stress and pain relief podcast. Please only listen when you can safely close your eyes.

Now, these podcasts, these recordings available on YouTube and on podcasts and on my website as well. I feel I seem to do an introduction every time, the same introduction. So a very quick description is that both pain and chronic pain and stress can be relieved with the same type of techniques.

Relaxation itself can, well obviously it can reduce stress but it can also have the same effect on the physical sensations of chronic pain. So that's that's kind of where I'm coming from when I talk about reducing the physical sensations, the physical discomfort and increasing your comfort and the physical relaxation in your body. I'm not going to be mentioning pain particularly during the recording but what I will be asking you to do, you might be listening to this because you've got chronic pain, you might be listening to this because you've got stress, anxiety that you wish to reduce or eliminate.

You may have both of those conditions. So whatever your reason behind wanting to listen to my voice, to help you to feel better, to feel more relaxed, more comfort, then um whatever that reason is, it's fine. In fact you don't even need a reason.

It may just be because you want to relax and that's cool. Now there's lots of different techniques, there's thousands and thousands of techniques, probably millions actually. So I may be making these recordings, these videos for the next 50 years, making a different one every day because there's so many different variations of what you can do.

Plus the more you listen to my voice, the more you watch the videos, the more benefit you gain and the easier it is for you to feel completely relaxed. So there's a lot, you know, a lot of benefit there, a lot of usefulness there for you. So what I'm going to ask you to do is to close your eyes.

Now of course if you, there will be two versions of this recording. Only one version of the video but there'll be two versions of the podcast. One will be with and one will be without music.

The one with music will last about two hours because then that gives you an opportunity to really allow yourself to relax even deeper and maybe if you wish you could fall asleep. But the video and the the shorter version of the podcast will be without music. Of course if you choose to continue to just have your eyes closed and to enjoy that physical pleasure that comes from letting go of all of those feelings that you had before you decided to listen to me.

Before you decided to let go of everything, you know, just let go. You can do so if you choose. It's completely up to you.

Now with your eyes closed I'd like you to focus on how you feel. Just like generally, like overall, you know, like an overall sense of how you feel both physically and emotionally both in your body and in your mind. Something quite unusual may occur in that when you close your eyes like this and you do kind of scan your body, you know, you observe how you're feeling generally.

You start to notice that your body is beginning to relax just naturally without any effort. You're not trying to do anything yet. You've not asked yourself to relax.

You've not anything. It's just the natural state of relaxation is triggered when you close your eyes. You know, when you just close your eyes and you leave them closed, your body and your mind know of only two things pretty much that happens next.

Like naturally happens next. Of course some people may close their eyes to meditate so you would get used to that and you would be in that zone. That would be a trigger for you to get into the meditative state.

But for the average person who maybe has never meditated, praying is another thing possibly. But the two standard places to travel in your mind once you close your eyes and leave them closed is relaxation or sleep or both. Sleeping is, well, you know, it's preceded.

Basically you start by relaxing and then you fall asleep. But you can also just sit in a comfortable chair or lie down and relax without falling asleep if you want to. And I highly recommend it because just giving yourself some space and some time, even if it's just five or ten minutes, can really do the world of good for your physical and mental health.

Improves when you take some time out of the day, just lie down. And sometimes you get more in touch with what's actually going on inside you. So for example, you may not have realized that you were tired before and then when you lie down, you realize that, oh, I need to go to sleep.

Or you may notice that you have physical sensations in your body that you weren't aware of before. Sometimes you have to sit down to realize that you've got a pain in your foot, even though that might sound really weird because you'd think you'd notice it when you were standing up. But it might not be until after you sit down and you realize that maybe you strained your ankle or you pulled a muscle or you just got excessive tension in a part of your body.

Or perhaps a part of your body has that physical discomfort that we discussed earlier that's labeled chronic pain. And a really good technique for people with chronic pain is distraction. So if you have a busy life or you've got lots of things to be getting on with, and there's certain things that you have to do and you're busy.

You may find that you distract yourself from how you're actually feeling, whether stress levels or physical discomfort, whatever may be happening. You may be pushing that aside and focusing on what you're doing. And this can be really helpful at times, but not always.

And sometimes continuously doing that can lead to the situation becoming worse. So stress leading to anxiety and a very problematic situation emotionally. So by taking some time every day, whether whilst listening to me, or when you're just on your own, taking some time, five or 10 minutes to sit down and close your eyes to lie down and close your eyes.

And if you sit in a chair, make sure it supports your body. So that if you did fall asleep, you're not going to fall out of your chair. You need to make sure that you've got a safe, supportive chair.

Just in the same way as if you had a bed, you'd have a flat bed, you wouldn't have a bed that was curvy, so that you could roll out. You wouldn't want to go to sleep, would you? You'd be like, oh, I'm going to roll out of bed in a minute. So we have a flat surface as a bed.

So have a comfortable chair that supports you. And as you sit there, or lie down, whatever your situation is now, you can hear my voice, but at the same time, you can notice the quiet. And maybe you'd like me to stop talking so that you can enjoy more of that quiet.

Well, I'm going to continue talking. But when I do finish, you can have as much quiet as you choose. And even though my voice is here with you, you can still notice the peacefulness in between each word.

There's silence. And that silence seems to resonate your mind, because you focus on your mind. And things have slowed down.

Things have slowed, really, really slowed. So that your mind is way calmer than it was before. Part of the reason could be because you don't really need your mind for anything right now.

Because you don't you don't need to do anything. Notice how that feels when I say those words. As it takes the pressure off.

You don't need to do anything. You don't need to say anything. You don't even need to think about anything.

As you absorb those words, really absorb those words, and realize that they are true. So, realize that you are free to let go completely of every single thing, every thought, every feeling. Nothing demands your attention.

And that calmness that spreads through your mind, overflows into your body, spreading through your entire body, relaxing, really deeply relaxing every single muscle in your body. And as you notice your breathing, you can breathe in that deep healing relaxation. And when you breathe out, you breathe out any remaining stress or physical discomfort.

And you breathe naturally, no controlling of your breath required. You breathe in when you breathe in, and you breathe out when you breathe out. The most natural thing in the world.

To feel completely relaxed, increasingly confident in your natural ability to allow every part of your body, to start to release all remaining stress and all remaining discomfort. Pushing out of your body with your breathing. Leaving your body and your mind feeling so peaceful.

So very, very peaceful. So, so calm. And even though your mind may start to drift, you can enjoy that physical and emotional pleasure connected with this feeling of letting go completely of all of those old thoughts and feelings that were holding you back in the past has gone and we have now this very moment to enjoy feeling wonderful and being able to really learn to appreciate yourself.

Learn to value your own personal ability to heal your own body and mind. Feel so peaceful and calm. So peaceful and calm.

It just feels so light. Your body can enjoy this healing energy spreading through all of the muscles. Spreading that healing relaxation through your blood to every part of your body.

Sharing and spreading that healing power of relaxation. Deepening deep within the core of your existence. Enjoying that feeling of freedom.

Spreading all around you like a light breeze. Protecting you. A shield of light, energy and love.

Reminding you constantly that you deserve to be happy. You deserve to feel relaxed as you feel that you're moving even deeper. Relaxed.

Even deeper. Even deeper. As you count down from 20 down to 1. When I get to 1 I'll stop talking.

With every number that I count down you can feel twice as comfortable. With every number I say you can feel twice as relaxed. Twice as peaceful.

Twice as confident. Now. 20 19 18 17 16 15 14 13 12 11 10 9 8 6 5 4 3 2 1
