Hello and welcome to... Let Me Bore You To Sleep. Let Me Bore You To Sleep. My name is Jason Newland.

Please only listen when you can safely close your eyes. Now the background is a little bit messy if you're watching on video. If you're listening on audio it's really tidy.

And Vinnie was sitting in a seat over there but as soon as I started talking jumped up and wants my attention as per usual. So I hope you're well. This is my website.

It's jasonnewland.com. All of my recordings are on there available. It's a podcast. My website is a podcast.

So you can stream, you can download each new recording and every time I do a new recording it's uploaded and to the podcast automatically. When I say automatically I don't mean as soon as talking it goes onto the website and I have to edit it and process it and upload it to another podcast host and you know. There is a process but the end result is the podcasts are on my website.

Also when you do visit the website make sure you refresh it because for some reason you need to refresh it every time you visit so the newest podcasts come up. And if you have any problems with the app you're currently using to listen to my recordings the podcast the website's a place to go as well. This t-shirt is not very flattering for my boobies is it? Oh well.

The problem with doing a video is I can't really tell you, I can't go on about the progress I'm making with my training, my physical training because it works better when you can't see me. If I'm saying like oh I've been training hard doing weights every day and you know I've lost weight and all that stuff. Hearing it you can believe it maybe.

It might still seem like lies but it's kind of potentially might be true. But when I say and you can see me and you might think have you really lost weight? Have you really worked out at all in the last 10 years? Really? Honestly? So yeah it's a hard one to look. My little finger's stronger anyway.

I do have oh I do have a Facebook group. There's currently 206 people on there. It's called Jason Newland's Boring Group.

It's really just for like the the top, the top people to join. The top listeners. Well yeah 206 is quite a lot.

I'm very tired now I'll start doing this recording. I just want to go to bed. I want to go to sleep.

It's really bright outside today. Cold but not as cold as it is now. It's not as hot as it has been.

I mean you can say that about any weather can't you? It's not as hot as it has been. It's not as cold. It's not as wet.

It's not as windy. I mean it depends how far back you go. But it's the only downside and I like it when it's a nice bright sky and cold.

I don't mind that in the winter. It's supposed to be cold in the winter but a nice bright sky that's a nice nice little touch for the day you know. Even if it's frost on the ground.

I don't mind that. In some ways it's better for walking a vine eye in downstairs in there because it's less muddy. You know if the mud's hard and stuff.

One of the downsides is the people in the garden come out and talk really loudly at each other because it's a kind of a nice day. So the only benefit of the winter one of the main benefits of the winter is of more opportunity to make recordings during the day without too much background sound occurring and I like to have the window open but all year round.

You know I do like to have some air coming in and there's someone doing some banging over there.

I don't know quite what they're up to and I think downstairs his kitchen has been completed because there wasn't any wasn't really much of any noise yesterday. There's been none today so I'm figuring it's all done. They did say 10 days but they got it done in about six unless they came in and just did a few bits yesterday.

Yeah now something a bit strange happened. I'm going to close my eyes because I'm tired. I mean this is a sleepy recording.

I mean I don't suppose I really need to explain. Oh yeah I'm bored by the way. I don't know if I shaved my hair.

I always shave my hair. Guaranteed when I shave my head the temperature drops. Not just for me.

Oh it's a bit colder. Yeah because you've got no hair. I don't mean that.

The temperature outside drops every single time. Even in the summer it seems to happen. I don't know why my voice went high pitch then though.

Even in the summer. I don't know why. But something quite unusual happened.

I mean it's not like a big thing but I dubbed a couple of recordings into Spanish audio and I put them onto YouTube and onto my podcasts. They're only like one was four minutes long the other one was six seven minutes long and I just thought you know just something to do and I like to test things out and try new things. But they've been quite popular and it's kind of opened my eyes to oh you know like hmm even though my eyes are struggling to stay open because my eyes are tired.

My eyelids are tired. I don't quite know why. Probably just tired.

It's just normal. It's okay to be tired. It's not a big thing.

You may wonder why is the room so messy? Well I've gradually over the last week or so I've been tidying up and moving stuff around and there's still the residue to deal with. So it's nearly done. It's just a few little bits.

I put documents away and just you know having a little bit of a spring clean and then I'll be done. It's just one of those things you know one of those things and I've never been a house proud.

I think I kind of went against because when I was younger it was like everything had to kind of be perfect and there can't be a well something's fallen on the floor must pick it up you know a bit a bit of dust I can see it through my microscope a bit of dust let's pick it up and I kind of gone the other way like well I've you know had a had a kind of a rule over the last few years whatever falls on the floor stays on the floor.

I don't stick to that really. I mean it's a temporary thing but if something falls on the floor unless it's food generally I'll just leave it on the floor. If it's food I'll pick it up.

I don't want food on the floor although I do have a plate of food over there but that was just because I took it off the settee so that Vinnie can sit on there but here you go. This side of the room is probably a lot tidier because I've got the TV it's not behind me I was gonna say it's behind you in a sense that you're behind the camera if that makes sense.

So the TV's there there the desks that I work on are here and what this has done is it's probably not probably using the word forced isn't correct but it's kind of forced me to concentrate and focus a little bit more on what I'm doing so you know I can't watch TV and work on my website at the same time because the TV is literally right in front of me it's just it's that far away from my face you know kind of you know pretty close and that the TV is too big it'd just be my eyesight would just pop probably.

So what I do now is I will listen to music on my phone I could use headphones and listen to music which would be better quality sound but then Vinnie wouldn't be hearing anything and part of the reason of having music or an audiobook or the radio or something playing is so that distracts him from the outside sounds the outside noises which which triggers him to start you know really going into one and once he starts he struggles to stop it's like a it's like a fart on a bus you

know you know you try and stop him but he just won't it has to it has to reach its destination like a bus a bus fart a fart a bus made of a fart maybe I don't know what that was about so I'm kind of intrigued intrigued slightly about the whole Spanish recordings the problem is it's very expensive I mentioned this yesterday probably but I can't just assume that everyone listens to all the recordings this might be the first recording you've ever listened to of mine this might be or watched

this might be you might not seen one for a week I had a really weird dream last night that's all I can tell you it was weird it was very strange it was I have these dreams where I'm almost like living in a like a dormitory situation like I've got a room but then they've got a room pretty a bit like when I was at Butlin's that kind of situation and there is this Japanese female that I liked and we were kind of getting to know each other get to know

each other and it was just yeah it was weird this not it wasn't it was just strange and there was this man that was wasn't very friendly towards dogs who was another person that lived there like lived in that complex I do wonder though do you ever think like the dream world is because for me I don't know what it's like for anyone else but for me it's all I'm not saying every every time I go to sleep I go back to the same place but it seems to be the

same world seems to be like a different world where I am a different person I'm me but a different version of me and I think I go it's like I go to different places sometimes there's there's one dream sequence where I have one two three different places where I'm living so I'm living in one place and I've moved out but I keep going back sometimes it's one of my no this is it's weird this is dream my dad or my parents or whatever my in my dream world parents they bought

the house next door huge house and redo it all and then sell it and then I have these dreams of going back and living there but I'm right upstairs in this really grimy room like the worst room in the house which is often that has been the case in the past occasionally often occasionally do those go into the same sentence well they just did didn't they and so I'm getting kicked out of there I'm trying to find a way to move my stuff out and get rid of the rubbish without

anyone knowing for some reason so I put in black bin bags outside but I've also got this flat like a studio apartment at the YMCA or an equivalent to the YMCA and I used to live in a YMCA but at the same time this YMCA flat is where I used to live where my stepman used to live which was a bit weird and that was a natural flat but I also had another flat which was a council flat and this is where things get complicated this is where things get weird

my neighbors are smurfs that's not the weird part the and sometime no there's no stress the the council flat that I move into I go in and I travel all the way like you walk into the flat and this is so real though this is the weird thing about it it's so real I need to put electric and gas on there's the entrance to the door everything is kind of really real including the outside there's the outside of the house it's a down floor flat and there's a bit of stuff

in the front as well probably where the bin goes and there's a gate so I go in there and I think it must be in London but it's also near a beach so it's it's a very mixed up dream I mean there's no beaches in London not really I mean but there isn't I mean technically there is a river the Thames Thames but when I go into this flat and turn left into it and it's you know it's a nice room messy of course because I live there but then you

go through and there's a big table area and I remember when I went in there the first the first time I went in there the dream this is years and years ago it went all the way around and there was all these different rooms and this big bathroom and I couldn't believe my luck it's like wow I've got a council flat but it's the size of a mansion all these rooms all these bathrooms and like wow and I remember like back then this is again this is years ago it might

have been 10 20 years ago I don't know when I first started dreaming this I went in there you know I just moved in had a landlord which is a bit weird because it was the kind of landlord that I would have had in the past not a council so a little bit confused on that one not the most confusing part of the story to be fair and I go in there and there's all these people sitting around at the table the dinner table and I say what are you doing

I think one of them looks back and said well we're having some soup I said soup said yeah soup so it's lunchtime it's like one o'clock in the afternoon what haven't soup for and one of them shouted out see I told you mum soup isn't a real meal and I said yeah I agree it's not a real meal it's a starter at best and that started this whole conversation going off the about whether soup is a real meal or not I mean my take on it is you can't soup can

be a meal I mean you can have but then soup that's a meal is broth which would be loads of things you can have vegetables meat dumplings all kinds of stuff where it is it's just basically a meal in some custard not custard but like in some liquid you know like more gravy it's more gravy than you would normally have kind of but the gravy is made of the food which gravy often is made isn't it of like people would cook some food whether it's meat or whatever and they use

that for the gravy you know maybe mix some more gravy granules in I don't know I've not I'm no expert on gravy although there was a time when the word just to turn it's all gravy was actually quite popular this was probably about 2000 time I never really did get it but didn't stop me saying it because I wanted to be a cool cat and I didn't know what to make of this whole situation with these people there how did you get into my house they said it's a flat I

said well you know what I mean how did you get into my flat and one of them said well it's not your flat is it obviously it's our flat I said it can't be your flat if it's my flat and he said but it is our flat look how many there are of us and how many there are of you there's only one of you I said I can count he said what do you mean I said well why are you telling me how many of me there are I know

there's only one of me that's not really relevant is it he said well it is because there's like seven of us there's one of you I said there's not seven of you there's six of you he said I know my brother's having a poo I said why is oh so there's seven when you said that why did you point towards the kitchen he said don't ask okay and so seven of you one of me fine but I rent this flat this is my flat and they said no it's our flat

so I contacted the landlord and he said no you share I said what do you mean he said well you've got your own rooms you've got your own bathrooms but you there's a divided line which is it divides halfway through the table but we haven't got a divide it's an invisible divider so you just have to pretend they're not there I said what he said do you have to he said is is there something wrong with the phone can you hear me okay I said yeah so why do you keep

saying what then it's not a what as I didn't hear you it was a what as in what the heck are you talking about he said listen young man that's very rude of you I'll let you get away with that once but once only I said okay sorry he said uh that's it you have just have to share I said but no this is supposed to be a council flat where you know a home for life kind of especially with someone as old as I am he said you're not that

old I said yeah I said I know I'm not that old but I am old older than I used to be yeah but aren't all of us true true true I don't know what to do he said what you mean I said I don't know what to do now because of this he said what I'm going go watch a movie or something I said no I don't mean what to do with my day I mean I don't know what to do about this this is supposed to be my home and

I didn't really get much luck and I think in this same dream I then revisited somewhere that I used to live but went upstairs and was almost I think it was on a on a roof or something partying for some reason but that didn't lead to any kind of conclusion to the situation and then I remembered that I had this studio apartment in the YMCA that I was still renting so I went there went inside and it was really weird because I was hiding when I got in there was all

these letters saying how much I owed them I was so far behind on the rent because I'd left that flat years ago but I'd forgotten to tell them I didn't tell them that I'd moved out so the rent had accrued or whatever to you know thousands I was like to be fair noises like aren't always useful hmm so I'm in that studio flat at the YMCA which also happens to be the exact same type of flat as I used to live in which was my step-man's flat that I lived in

when I was 15 but I did also live in three different studio flats in the YMCA back in the early 2000s so it's kind of a weird mixture of things but the layout inside like the room to the left another room to the left then the bathroom and then the living room that was the same layout as my step man's flat but that flat was also exactly the same as a flat that I lived in with my friend in another dream where we lived in this flat he lived in one

room I lived in the other room we shared the kitchen living room whatever and it had previously been someone else's flat that lived there but they'd moved out but we had to get out because we were being evicted so basically what happened is he moved out and then we moved in we just like sneaked in and decided to live there because we still had a key and the locks weren't changed and nothing like that so we just lived there and then the landlord kept started coming around and saying you can't

be out of here this is my property he might not have spoken like that it's not like you can research because it and like correct me because it's a dream isn't it yeah it was I mean I don't know if it's because of the all the times I've been evicted or all the different homes I've lived in or maybe there was just a mixture of all these different things going on in these streams but I've gone back to that quite a few times as the same as I've gone back to

when I used to be a temp temporary like an agency working in a cold store and I just yeah kind of go back to that and I've not done that since the 90s but I still had that I found it I did one last time I was there was in 1997 I did one day I did a day's work and they gave me the worst jobs like unloading the heaviest loads off of lorries the heaviest boxes there's these awful boxes that were like white and flat and really heavy I mean

there must have been there must have weighed probably half my body weight they were really heavy yeah that was a strange period though it's in 1997 the mistake one of the mistakes I made and I'd never do this again I lived in a sublet not once twice and it was really wasn't a good idea the problem with sublets is well the first one we got kicked out with no notice because a person that was renting it and I think they were both like council houses yeah council one was a council

house one was a council flat this is back in London a lot this is in early 90s so I got I moved in with a friend I didn't know it was a sublet I had no idea and we was all at work and they said he came and told me oh we got to be out tonight I said what yeah we've got to be out we have got to go home move out I thought wow and then the next time with the same person he just had a habit of renting

sublets which I don't know maybe it's easier to get hold of sublets I'm not sure but it's I guess if you want to keep yourself off the off the radar but at the same time because I was working when I moved into the next one another sublet and it was a flat it was all right flat but I was working in insurance not insurance uh security so I had a job I had a you know regular paycheck for working long hours doing an average 60 hour week and sometimes more and

this was 96 96 96 yeah end 96 probably maybe October September October and I it didn't bother me that it was sublet I knew it was sublet but then I lost my job and I couldn't afford to pay the rent but I also couldn't sign on because I was living in a sublet so I wasn't able to see the sign on or get housing benefit because part of the agreement was if I went to sign on I'd have to give my address and if I gave the address of the council

house or the council flat we were in the people would get in trouble you know I didn't realize it was a council flat until that point I don't think but I might have done I don't remember so I had no money coming in and luckily I managed to get out there and find somewhere else to stay but that was yeah that was pretty pretty rubbish really but at the same time I had a girlfriend when I was living there and she came around and stayed over and all that stuff and

it was kind of the first time not the first time but one of the few times where I felt like I was an actual adult not living in someone else's house being able to come and go as I please and yeah it's weird because then after that I went back to going and living in someone else's house where I couldn't have people staying over as an adult I wasn't able to do that ironic really considering the landlady's um 18 year old daughter was allowed to have her boyfriend stay over but

I was like 28 and I wasn't allowed I didn't want her boyfriend to stay over with me I'm just saying I wasn't allowed to have my own girlfriend stay over so I was living like a child really back then in some ways and then I suppose I got my independence a bit when I moved into you know when I moved out of there when I got I got evicted from there and then I had a degree of freedom in the next place I lived but it was just so I couldn't

believe right I've lived in a lot of places a lot of places there was this one place that I moved in and it was just after the this isn't Stratford so it's about 19 no it's 2001 and and I'd I had a job working in a call center selling mobile phone contracts so I rented this room it was a fairly big room had a double bed had storage under the double bed there wasn't a lot in there it was a cupboard you know it's like just a normal room but it

was it was big enough for what I needed but the problem is not only was there a room next to it these rooms were at one point one room so before this person moved in it was one room and I guess when she moved in when she bought the house she put two doors but they weren't even like proper thick doors there was sliding doors that locked we were pretty pretty much just sharing a room with each other and I can snore loudly but nothing compared to him he was the

loudest snorer ever and the thing about someone snoring is you can't you can't say anything about it because it's not their fault it's not someone's asleep they're unconscious or asleep they're not responsible for for what noises they make when they're asleep so you know I couldn't I couldn't really say anything and I think he had his girlfriend living there as well so there was other noises coming out of the room at times but then I I moved away anyway so I moved back to be near where my nan lived in

the September 2001 so yeah I didn't I didn't stay there probably two months at the most I reckon in that that room but oh it was it was weird it's another one of those houses one of those places that I moved into and I was being watched when I was in the kitchen like what you're doing like like if you can if you're going to rent a room out you need to accept that the people you rent the rooms out are going to be living there going to be there they're

going to be using the toilet they're going to be using the shower or the bath they're going to be using the cooker they're going to be using the kettle they're going to be using the fridge they're going to be using the cupboard space that is allotted to them but she didn't seem to like the fact that I was using her cooker and every time I used the cooker she'd be moaning saying well can you clean it down what have you been eating I said just a ready-made meal and I just

put it in the oven okay well why is there flour all over the floor I said I want to talk about it she said what do you mean I said I don't want to talk about it what can you at least clear it up I said I don't want to talk about it I said you don't have to talk about it just clear it up please don't leave a mess all over the kitchen I said it's not all over the kitchen it's just on one side of the kitchen but why

is there flour everywhere that's not everywhere is it okay why is there flour on one side of the kitchen do you really want to know really I don't really want to know but I'm interested as this is my home and I'll quickly as I flat it as is as it is mine also you know when I gave you that deposit and I gave you that month's rent this is also my home now the difference is with every month that passes I lose money with every month that passes you make money

and not only from me but from the the value of the house going up and she said so that's why you chucked flour on the floor is it I said yeah that's why she said really I said yeah I looked at the value of this house it's gone up by about 15 grand in the last four years you can afford to let your rooms out for nothing but no you're charging me 75 pound a week I don't know why she was surprised 75 pound a week to share a room with

someone else the snores are louder than me louder than me I mean it's hard to believe but it's true now I'm a loud snorer but he was like proper like a like a bear like a bear with sleep apnea that's kind of what he just the most you'd expect it's just really loud he used to vibrate the bed I didn't mind that actually but you know it was a bit weird I was angry I was confused to be fair I had confused feelings you know I was angry but I was

some nice feelings it was just weird so yeah but I didn't live there long but these dream places it just seems a bit strange to keep going back to the same dream scene I don't know why not why it's strange but why why why does it happen I don't know I mean there's times when I'm in a dream and my whole family is together me and all my brothers are living together which hasn't happened since I was 14 probably 13 14 so yeah very strange very very very very strange I

can't believe I'm not falling asleep yet my eyes is it look like my head is kind of falling off a bit it's a weird angle isn't it it's like I've got I've got neck there but nothing there there's no neck there just it's weird isn't it strange angle that's bit it's bad is that bad nope I'm hunchbacked or something but not I don't think I am I don't know maybe no one's told me no one's told me me me me me so yeah I did two recordings yesterday I did a

Let Me Bore You To Sleep and then I did a sleepy boring objects which was focused on cleaning jobs I've had cleaning jobs and as I started talking about that the cleaning jobs I was kind of surprised at some of the things I remembered because there's one particular job that I'd forgotten about and that was cleaning caravans and another one that I kind of don't think about generally is the one where I cleaned a bakery I did one night doing this it's supposed to be like a regular two hours an

evening job but it went wrong it went so wrong and they yeah the weird thing about that and I spoke about it yesterday but it's kind of a strange thing because if you work wherever you work in my experience and I've had so many different jobs whether it's in a kitchen where it's in a restaurant a nightclub where it's in a factory wherever it you know whatever it's in where it's in a bakery where it's in a pub and yeah you clean up at the end of the day I mean

some with the pub we didn't we had cleaners come in and do the the floors you know Hoover the floors or whatever but we would clean the bar and maybe the tables the chip shop but always mop the floor at the end of each session the bakery the first bakery I worked in would always scrape and clean the floor after every time you know that we spend the last half an hour or hour cleaning up ready for the next day and that's kind of the that's the best way to keep

something clean I say that with all this mess in this room but in a like a regularly used public space whether it's the aisles of a supermarket or a toilet or whatever you do it every day and once you do it every day it doesn't need much even the aisles of a supermarket even during the winter yeah they get muddy and they get you know wet and everything but most supermarkets would have someone cleaning the aisles during the day anyway with spillages and if the aisle got slippery they'd like clean

it up so that the early morning cleaners or evening cleaners whatever they have because it's done every day would just be naturally it'd be easy this you know it's quite easy jobs to do if they were done once a week it'd be horrendous so yeah the more often you do it the less often you need to do it or no it doesn't make sense does it because it means you're still doing it often it just takes less time if you if you clean a toilet every single day if you leave

it for a year it might take hours it might take days to get it clean you know I'm talking am I talking from experience let's not ask if you clean it every single day the actual toilet tub itself like inside the toilet doesn't need anything done because you put bleach down at the end of the day every night leave it in the toilet for eight hours or whatever however long you're in bed for it's sorted I mean I don't want to focus on the insides of toilets that's not really what

this recordings about although that is what I'm thinking about now it's weird because I'm also thinking about a Cornish pasty that's in the fridge I kind of wish I'd eaten it when it was warm so I bought it from the bakery yesterday morning and it was still warm someone just gone in the garden sounded like it sounded like a dog flapping its ears so Vinnie started barking so I'm gonna go because otherwise he's gonna keep he's gonna start barking properly that's one of the downfalls of nice days because people would

go out in the garden and I got the window open if I didn't have the window open it'd be less heary that mean you need to hear less so yeah this is I don't know why I did a video this for some reason not really sure so today's Tuesday just trying to think say this t-shirt doesn't do me any favors and this Tuesday I've got I've been watching the rig TV show called the rig it's really good check it out and I don't know I think it's on I think it

might be HBO I think it's on sky then it might not be it might be on Amazon I'm not sure I completely I've lost track of where I'm watching it it's really good you might need in not an interpreter you might need you know translation if you're if you struggle with the Scottish accent I don't but some people might need translation I don't think anyone would but it's possible if yeah they're being noisy now I'm gonna go thanks for listening remember to be kind to yourself lots of love and you do deserve to be happy bye
