So before we get started it's a good idea to do a little bit of preparation. For one thing you know regarding you know you can sit down in a chair the chair needs to support your body and if you've got a recliner chair then it's probably better and you can sit down but if you don't that's also fine as long as the chair supports your body in the event of you falling asleep which is likely.

But even if you're listening to this just to relax, you know keep yourself safe and make sure that you're you know the chair supports you. If you're lying down on a bed then and if you're listening just for the relaxation I should warn you that it's a high probability that you will drift off to sleep. And part of that is because you're in bed and your brain, your mind, your body you know connects lying down in bed as a basically a command really to just go to sleep, relax deeply and go to sleep.

So if you were listening again purely for relaxation purposes and you need to be somewhere in a few hours time then I suggest you set your alarm. Also wear loose clothing. That's quite important so if you've you know if you're let's say you're working you get home and you've got tight trousers on or a tight skirt or blouse or jumper or whatever it is you're wearing then maybe get out of those clothes and or put some tracksuit bottoms on or if the room is warm enough just you know minimal.

But the idea is that you haven't got any uh tight clothing pressing on you on your body because it's much easier to relax that way. And if you're sitting in a chair and you know you've maybe got a belt on your on your trousers and it's digging into your stomach it's not very comfortable. So do what's necessary you know just little things like maybe going to the toilet before you you sit or lie down.

If you're really hungry then maybe have something to eat before you do this before you listen to this. Maybe give it you know a little while after eating before you listen to this but make it as pleasant as possible for yourself. Because listening to this recording it's not a chore.

At least it shouldn't be and if you find it to be a chore then do something different. Because life is full of things that maybe are not so pleasant things that we have to maybe do. This is not one of those things.

So only listen if you enjoy listening. And that might sound like a very strange thing for me to say. But I think it's important that you give yourself every every help, every everything you can in order for you to relax and let go.

Give yourself every chance every benefit. And also you know if you're listening for the first time and you know if if this isn't for you if it's if you're thinking oh this is this you don't like it whatever. Don't give up.

There's lots of other people that do relaxation and sleep sessions. So check them out as well. Because it's a case sometimes of finding a voice that you can connect with and relax with.

Because my squeaky voice might not be right for you. You know hearing me going yeah relax relax yeah be calm. That might not be relaxing for you.

So you might find someone online it talks like this and then relax. That might be better. So do what's right for you.

Because you're too important to just you know to not do whatever you can to help yourself. I also do suggest looking at other therapies that are out there that can help you to relax. Things that maybe you may not have access to at the moment.

But you know in the future they may be available where you are. You know things like acupuncture, reflexology, aromatherapy, Reiki, all kinds of things that are just general massage itself. I love having a massage.

I used to have massages quite regularly when I was younger. And I've even done a massage course myself trained to be a masseur. So there's lots of different ways to relax and I think we kind of owe it to ourselves to do whatever is necessary to be relaxed.

And it's not about feeling relaxed all the time because we're not supposed to feel relaxed. All the time there are times when we need to have a degree of stress and tension. In fact there's times when it is very healthy to be you know extremely alert and aware of our surroundings.

And other times such as now when you're listening to my voice there's nothing really that needs your attention. It's just me and you spending a little bit of time together relaxing. And just talking about feeling more relaxed can and often does trigger that sense of relaxation that spreads through your body and in your mind.

It's like when you think back to a time in the past when you were feeling really relaxed. Now for me an example of that would be sitting in the garden or maybe sort of lying on a deck chair with the sun shining on me. Now I know that you know sunbathing and having the sun shining on you may not be the the best thing for everyone but the feeling is amazing providing you know you're careful and you're not you know it's not you've got lots and lots of suntan ocean lotion on you.

So I can't really sunbathe but I can spend you know five or ten minutes sitting in the sun and it almost feels like I'm melting like my muscles are melting and it's a beautiful feeling. I unfortunately have the wrong type of skin. I actually can sunburn in the winter.

I've got red skin and I go redder. So the amount of people who said well if you wear enough suntan lotion, no it makes no difference. I burn that's just the way it is.

I mean basically you put suntan lotion on me that's oil it's like I turn into a frying pan. I think honestly you could make eggs and sausages on me. Anyway, it's a lovely feeling.

When you think of that experience you remember what it feels like to just lie there with your eyes closed and the heat of the sun shining on your body. It's almost as if nothing else exists and no one else exists. It's just you and the sun and then you've got the smells that come with it.

Maybe the smells if you're on a beach, the smells of the ocean, smells of the suntan lotion on your body. With me the smell of the fried eggs on my tummy. You've got the smell of just the surrounding area really.

Maybe the feeling of the spray from the sea. It's really you know it's the whole package. You've got lots of different feelings and lots of different senses.

Senses. I mean even though you've got your eyes closed you can still see the sun through your eyelids. It's just a lovely experience and of course you don't need to be in the sun in order to relax.

You can just sit in a chair or lie down on your bed. I mean if you like you can even just remember what it felt like when you were lying in the sun. The last time you felt really really relaxed and the sun was melting away all of the stress from your body and your mind.

Melting. It's almost like this stress and the negativity was just dripping onto the floor. Leaving you feeling so uplifted and positive and confident because that's something that becomes more noticeable when the negativity is removed.

That natural confidence that you have becomes more obvious, more noticeable, more visible and just experiencing it there. Experiencing it within you knowing that it's very much a big part of you. That natural confidence in your own ability to let go completely and relax absolutely.

As all the muscles of your body melt. All the thoughts in your mind melt away and any remaining stress or negativity drips onto the floor. Leaving your body and your mind completely and that sense of peacefulness arises.

Becomes quite strong. The sense of just not caring about anything, not worrying about a single thing. Feeling so at ease.

So peaceful. Maybe a sense of feeling grateful arises, gratitude for the fact that you really can allow yourself to let go of everything and to embrace your natural ability to enjoy and experience full deep relaxation in your body and your mind. Becoming stronger as it spreads down your back, your chest and your stomach.

Your legs, your arms, shoulders, neck, feet and toes, hands and fingers, your throat, jaw, your eyes, your head, as it sinks into your mind and it's really, really calm. And as I count down from five to one, drift gradually into a sleepy state of comfort. Five, four, three, two, five, three, two, three, two, three.

Paragraph spacing and recurring name or title errors have been tidied. Because this began as a voice transcription, an occasional word or piece of punctuation may still be incorrect.
