Hello and welcome to Let Me Bore You To Sleep. My name is Jason Newland. Please only listen when you can.

Safely close your eyes. So what's the latest? So I had a bit of an incident with Vinnie the other day, Thursday. And I did talk about it in yesterday's recording, I think or the day before.

So I won't go over it again. But yeah, Thursday's recording. So yeah, it's a bit weird.

I just I kind of lost my confidence a little bit. We've taken him out. It's strange.

Anyway, I won't go over that. The today, I started a new series. And it is that it did.

What is it? Let me just check is hypnosis for chemotherapy. There's going to be 10 sessions. The first one I've already done did it this well early this afternoon, or this more I don't know, a few hours ago, just literally just uploaded it all.

First one is nausea and vomiting, hypnosis for psychotherapy. Of course, it's not a light hearted Let Me Bore You To Sleep recording, obviously, but just letting you know about it. So just in case it's something that is of use to you or someone that you care about.

And it's, of course, of course, of course, of course, there's six versions. One without music, five hours of music, well, what five hours without music, 10 hours without music, me one with music, 5000 10 hours with music. The one without music just on its own last for an hour and 41 minutes.

So it's quite a, it's quite a long recording. And I waffle on a bit to start with. And then I do I go into the hypnosis session.

So it's it's kind of a mixture of different things, but I hope it's of use. There is a personal reason why I've done it. It's a being not motivated, what's the right word? There's this someone that I there's going to be going through that.

And I hope that this will be of use to them. And anyone else that's going through it. I mean, there's millions of people around the world that are going through that right now.

So maybe it can be useful. And perhaps if it is useful, you can share it to let people know. So yeah, so there's going to be 10 different versions or 10 different recordings to start with anyway.

And I'll tell you what they're going to be. Let us have a look. Where is it? There it is.

So I've done the first one nausea and vomiting. Second one will be pain management. Third one will be anxiety and stress.

The fourth one will be sleep disturbances. Five will be fatigue. Six will be depression.

Seven will be hot flashes. Eight will be cognitive difficulties. chemo brain in brackets.

Nine will be appetite loss. Number 10 will be emotional distress. So I'll make a recording on each of those subjects.

Now, I guess technically the easiest ones, or the most, the ones that I've got experience with would be pain management, anxiety and stress and sleep disturbances. I already make recordings all three of those things. So the others, I'm not sure I'll have to do a bit of research before I do those recordings.

But 123. I don't know if I'm going to do one a week. Or one a day.

I really don't. I'm really don't know. I'm not sure.

It's I need to have the, you know, I need to get gripped to want to do it. I need to be in the correct frame of mind to do it. So I don't know if there'll be any use.

I really don't know. It's hard. I don't.

It's one of those things is like, well, either it's useful, or it's not useful. And I'll depend upon the person themselves, you know, because not everybody, some people are going to listen to my voice and think, oh, it's so squeaky. Some people listen and think I speak too slowly.

I've had that a few times in the past, speak too slowly, man. I can't listen to you too slow. Some people may think I talk too quickly, which is kind of weird, because I'm not known for being the quickest.

I don't know if it'd be in the quickest talker in the world. In the past, some of the other complaints I've had is that I don't get to the point. That will surprise some of you.

I don't get to the point. See, yeah. My voice is gone a little bit, because I've been doing a lot of talking already today.

Let's have a bit of water. Maybe that will clear my voice. Ah, that's much better.

Now, no, there it is. It's back. Hmm.

So yeah, I'll be doing that 10 recordings. Maybe, maybe I might do more. Maybe I might do one a week continuously for ever and ever and ever.

I don't know. It's just one of those things. I don't, I really don't know.

I mean, I wasn't intending to do the Q&A Friday every Friday, but I have done now for blindly, what, six months, maybe longer, which I did yesterday. I had four questions, and the thing still lasted for ages. How long did it last for, the Q&A Friday yesterday? Q&A, Q&A, Q&A Friday.

One hour, 47 minutes, Q&A Friday. So that was without music, blindly. I don't know what's gone into me lately.

It's just, the one before that was Caring for Others, one hour, 49 minutes, and then Trivia Tuesday, two hours. The one before that, let's see, Boring Monday Objects, Monday Boring Objects rather, Michael Jackson, one hour, 33. Sunday Papers, one hour, 48.

Q&A Friday last week, two hours, 17 minutes. I don't seem to, I seem to go on a bit, don't I? It's almost like I can't stop talking. Very weird.

Yeah, so Q&A, yes, 147, 148, blindly. So yeah, it's kind of getting, I don't know, maybe that is just the natural progression of things, where I am just talking longer. And for some reason, I don't know if it's because it's getting darker earlier, or it's, whatever reason, Vinnie seems to be a little bit less barky the last week or so.

Which means, well, if I'm interrupted enough times, I just end the recording. You know, if I've done an hour, and he's just continuously barking, eventually I just get fed up and I'd like end the recording, because it's just, it's too distracting. But if he just lies there and goes to sleep for the whole time, which I think is to do with me, it's almost like I've got a boring voice or something.

He's giggling. Oi. So he tends to fall asleep when I'm talking.

And so, you know, and it makes it easier for the editing. It still takes quite a bit of time to do all the processing and everything. But it's, yeah, it's a bit nicer to be able to do it without being interrupted.

And yeah, that's it, really, just how I prefer it to be. So I've, yeah, just released the, that's weird, blimey. This is really strange.

What? Oh, no. Yeah, okay. Let's go back.

So 2,3,4,5,6,7,8. Wow, I've already had just on the hypnosis for sleeping deeply this, that's the, the podcast thing. The other one that does let me boys asleep and hypnosis for sleeping deeply.

local to make it more awkward was my shamelessness because at seven o'clock I went in there to have a drink that same day and he just he just started laughing he couldn't believe that I just had the whatever it is to just walk in there after letting it down like that and I said sorry about that I wasn't very well and he's like I said what about next Sunday he said no wouldn't give me another chance I mean some people just got no faith but yeah on this Friday I thought

whatever Friday it was one of the the local drunks was trying to teach me how to play sudoku and I was I was one of the local drunks as well and I was drinking and he was drinking and I could not figure it out and I still cannot figure it out it just has it there expected me to know how to how to do it I don't know how to do sudoku what am I supposed to do it's just a bunch of numbers is it patterns I'm supposed to look for

you get an x-ray to see what's going on any part of your body you can get an x-ray or a CT was it cat scan and you pretty much find out what's going on inside or if that doesn't do it then you know a tube you know a camera or whatever the brains the only part when no one I don't seem to want to look is it gives a word what they'll find or what they won't find because you know they don't know once someone they they looked inside is they

gave him a scan of his brain and he only had like half a brain anyone in there with a ingrown toe now oh that was ridiculous but yeah it's like wow maybe that's what my thing is maybe I've only got half a brain I wonder if it all works maybe only one side works but then you'd like one if only one size worked in only one side of your body would work apparently that's not necessarily the case because our brains have what do they call it spasticity so it can create

new neural networks so normally the right part of the brain the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body left of the brain controls the right side of the body and when we're looking at stuff we're actually seeing upside down which is I can't get my head around that is so that this just doesn't make sense so the actual optical nerves the optical thing is upside down but our brain change it so that it's actually the right way up which means that our brains can change stuff

from what's actually really happening so the left side of the body can also do stuff with the left side of the brain can do stuff with left side of the body just amazing stuff so I so would love to be not guinea pig yeah I want I don't necessarily want to be prodded and have my scalp taken off and stuff like that ideally but I do love the idea of like do some scans I don't mind you know the less intrusive the better but just I'd love I'd just love to

have my brain scanned just to see what's going on why I'm like I am and maybe there's I don't know just be interesting and something that I just find fascinating and I can't really get my head around even now is I mean you might not be aware of this you might be aware of this but you might not being aware that the left side of the brain controls the right side of the body and so on and so forth you might not have known that and also if you want to

stimulate the right side of your body move the left move your left hand move your left leg left you know that stimulates that part of the brain and with the same is if you want to stimulate the left side of your brain move your right fingers and your right hand and stuff if you want to actually calm your mind doing two things with both your hands so like chucking a ball between your hands helps to calm you down which is I think why knitting is so good for you because it

almost evens out the brain keeps the signals kind of even so both sides working at the same time one doesn't get overwhelmed emotionally so I'm gonna start taking knitting up I think and I imagine people who play the piano or play instruments things like that is very good for the brain because they're using both their hands and I imagine really to be fair footballers athletes that are using both of their feet is a very I know technically someone that's running they're just running it's not intricate as far as it's intricate

physically in the sense of keeping going and you know having the willpower to do that and determination and a physical ability to do that but as far as so I just as far as stimulating each side of the brain it's I imagine it's different if you're knitting because it's but is it intricate is it hard for me it'd be hard to do that but for my nan she could I mean literally she could do it and without even thinking she wouldn't even know sometimes she'd make she'd make a pair of

gloves and she didn't even know where they came from she didn't realize she'd done it we'd just be watching TV and suddenly this pair of gloves be land on my head like where'd they come from said I don't know I must have fallen from the ceiling and she didn't remember doing it she was just so used to she honestly sometimes she'd be go to bed and she'd wake up and it'd be like a 25 foot scarf all over the floor sometimes she'd go to bed and it'd be no bed cover

and she'd wake up and she'd be covered by a massive blanket oh dear that she knitted but yeah she she used to love knitting but I think it was good I mean you do need your eyesight though to do well I don't know maybe you don't but she'd seem to she stopped doing it once her eyes went you know I want to sort of make out that people that people that have they can't see can't knit because that's probably not true not sure how good the pattern would be but you

know generally it's I suppose it's more mathematical isn't it it's like counting stitches one three nine one three nine and maybe maybe that's how it works I really don't know I don't know I'm making it up as I go along and I'm trying not to say the wrong thing because I've said the wrong thing too many times this week oh man I literally started this week doing an online test to see if I was like was it autism test or something just that I'm not online thing and part of the

questions was like do I say the wrong thing and upset people like yes sometimes but I haven't done that for quite a while I ended up doing it this week big time it's like wow oh dear so yeah the thing that really gets me that kind of just I really struggle to what was that oh I just struggle with this idea and it's a true it's a true thing but I just can't get my head around it doesn't make sense at all it just doesn't is the fact that our brains

have no feeling sensors there's no feeling there's no pain in the brain which is a weird because once you tap your head well you know it can hurt you know like that would hurt but underneath once you get through to the scalp the actual brain itself no sensory perceptions you wouldn't feel a single thing but ironically so there's no pain in the brain but any pain this sensation is feeling your body comes from the brain so about the brain there is no pain yet there's no pain in the brain no

pain in the brain but the brain causes the pain literally without the brain signals there is zero discomfort physically this is just physiological scientific fact this is not my opinion so my opinion is do you want to know what my opinion is it involves Weetabix and so let's not end straw but let's not go down there and so if I only had a brain I can while away the hours if I only had a brain if I only had a brain it's just full of straw full of straw was it

Pryor was did you know that yeah it was during his the late 70s maybe the early 80s I don't know it was that kind of period and I think it was around the time that he did Superman 3 possibly so maybe it was the early 80s maybe but he was in America he was big Richard Pryor's biggest comedian in America pretty much other than possibly Steve Martin and Bill Cosby I'd say there's probably others that I don't know as well because obviously I'm not in America but as far as global

comedians probably there would be the three who else who else in the late 70s I mean I'm not talking about people like Bob Hope and who obviously I mean Bob Hope was a superstar wasn't he and Jerry Lewis and that I mean they were they were like they were leagues above in a sense of because they were they were already household names I'm thinking more in the sense of touring comedians selling albums and stuff like that yeah yeah so I think Richard Pryor did his I think I'm not sure I'm

gonna I think I think I think I think Richard Pryor did his live in concert in about 1978 I can't believe he passed away in 2005 Wow 19 years ago so he did the I can't believe it did you know there is a bit of trivia did you know that Richard Pryor used to be he is as he said in his lifetime he used to say that he earned a living a really good living being Bill Cosby which takes on a different meaning these days but you know he meant like

he was a clean-cut comedian he'd go on to TV shows and it'd be it'd be he said he was kind of like a carbon copy Bill Cosby he wasn't because you know regardless of anything to do is Bill Cosby did he pass away I can't remember but Bill Cosby was forgetting everything else was a one-of-a-kind when it came to stand-up comedy well maybe one-of-a-kind in every different way but he was superior I mean Richard Pryor was some would class him as the greatest comic that ever lived it's hard to put

that on anyone really isn't it because everyone's of their time in a sense I mean how many comedians can you put on like get a DVD of a live set or go onto YouTube and put on a DVD of a live concert what comedian can you put on today for the young people so it may be people are in 1718 now and they'd love it as much as the people did back then which comedian could do that and I don't know I don't think Richard Pryor could do that I don't

know I don't know if he could I don't know George Carlin one of my all-time favorites could Steve Martin do that would people would they laugh at his stuff now and would they laugh at Bill Cosby would they laugh at Sam Kinison would they laugh at Jerry Seinfeld you know the stand-up stuff so it's a weird one isn't it it's of its time if you look at some of the comedians that may be on TV now in this country and they're different from what they used to be but they're modern

stand-up comedians they're funny in their own way they've got you know they've got their own their own their modern if that's all I can say they're up-to-date with how their audience thinks and feels kind of as a collective I guess and Bill Cosby and Richard Pryor was also and George Carlin he was very aware of who his audience were and his audience got old with him so when he's in their 60s he was a hippie 70s he was a hippie then in 2000s 2010s whatever he was an old man moaning

about stuff and his audience he still used to have a young audience as well but it was a different different thing completely different yeah well anyway what's gonna look so Richard Pryor oh yeah this is the trivia so I forgot I was realizing his albums so he got invited so he was doing this he was quite famous already at this point in the early 70s because he was on TV in the 60s and he said he was invited to do a charity gig for I think it was something to do

with gay rights something like that and this was in like early 70s and he went along and he was invited because he was well he was on telly and stuff like that so he went along and he saw that the the dancers the black dancers and the white dancers were segregated the white dancers had nice changing rooms and the black dancers were all kind of stuck together in a little hut kind of that's that was the story anyway and he didn't like that so he he thought well this is supposed

to be about equality that's what the whole gig is about charity gig or fundraiser or it might have just been an awareness gig but he was invited to help with awareness yet of inequality yet there was inequality being happening at that particular place so he apparently got on stage and he bent over and pulled his trousers down and he said kiss my BA big BA and then walked off and he didn't perform again for a couple of years and then when he came back he did released a came back as

a like an angry angry man and that's when he become really famous so in 1974 his first album even the title just says it all that ends crazy the n-word that ends crazy that was his first album that's what it's called and then he did is it something I said in 1975 and then Bicentennial N 1976 then he did Richard Pryor live on the Sunset Strip 1982 right ah okay I might got this wrong no he's also known for Richard Pryor live and smoking 1971 wanted live in concert 1978 and

Richard Pryor live in concert 1979 1971 Wow so I'm guessing his life stuff was a bit more more more raunchy than his TV stuff but then his movies he was nothing like his stand-up when he did his movies he was always quite often like the bumbling fool and weak and you know pretend you know pretending to be scared all the time and acting all silly and that when the fact is he wasn't like that at all especially when he did his stand-up he was like a dangerous comedian yeah that's a

bit of trivia I think a similar thing happened with George Carlin he he was clean-cut really clean-cut comedian and he's doing well on TV in the 60s I think short hair wore a suit really you know nice and then he something happened and he just quit comedy he went away for a couple of years came back with long hair as a hippie in the 70s and that's when he became really famous and he had long hair pretty much the whole time I mean some people didn't know who he was until

get to that point of get on television and earn some real good money a really good money and so it means they might never be able to retire which is just crazy really and then you've got all the new people coming in coming along and the new people always be the younger new people will be more appetizing for the television execs so yes I guess it's quite hard to to stay relevant even no matter how good you are unless you're kind of a bit of a star there's there's really well-known

comedians that never even bothered with television but not that many I don't think there's only really I mean there's a few of the old the old style of comedy you know like the mother-in-law jokes and stuff like that and they that weren't allowed on telly after about 1980 but they earned millions selling videos and albums and stuff so yeah Manning and Jim Davis and Davidson and Roy Chubby Brown I mean they I mean I think it was a time when Roy Chubby Brown was the highest earning stand-up comedian probably in

the world at one point because it was just absolutely making millions and millions and millions maybe not the world but especially in this country I'm just thinking because any comedian that does a in America it's just so much bigger audience isn't it that's what it is but it really I think the first time two stand-up comedians a stand-up comedian ever did an arena which was at Wembley that wasn't till probably the middle 90s so comedians never did arenas back then we've got a few arenas in this country but I know
