Hello and welcome to jasonnewland.com, my name is Jason Newland and this is Let Me Bore You To Sleep. Please only listen when you can safely close your eyes. So it's Friday, the 9th of August, 2002, quite early in the morning.
It's about 4.30 in the morning. I had a very early night last night. I think I was in bed about 8.30, something like that.
So I've had my breakfast, then he woke me up about 3.30 because he wanted to have some food. So I got up, got him some food and decided to give him his breakfast. I'm not used to doing recordings really early in the morning.
In fact, it's been a week since I made a Let Me Bore You To Sleep recording and I've forgotten how to do it. I've forgotten what to do, I don't know what to say, I don't even know how to speak for some reason. Quite a few things, quite a few things, I've been doing a few things this week.
I haven't felt really up to, you know, hasn't been, yeah. I think because of the weekend, the boxing was on and it was on all night, Saturday night or Sunday early morning, which meant I was in bed most of the day Saturday and then I was in bed most of the day Sunday and then Monday and Tuesday, I was trying to prepare the flat because we had a council inspection of my home.
So I've been, I was worried about that for the last couple of weeks.
So I spent, I'm not going to lie, so I spent two days cleaning, but I spent two days thinking about cleaning. So I did bit by bit. And including Wednesday morning, just trying to get the place to look okay.
I don't want to lose my home because of messiness. And in the process of tidying up, I decided to redesign the format of this room, the living room, which in turn led to me spending another all day Wednesday and all day yesterday, moving stuff around and trying to get things in the right position, which was wasn't easy, actually, to be fair. I kept moving tables around to a different area, then moving it back.
And so how I've got it now is I've moved from one side of the room to the other. And my right elbow is hurting. So I think I might have strained it, lifting stuff, I don't know.
Or slept on it wrong. Why am I sleeping on my elbow? You might ask. Don't you have a bed? So I was the other side, I was near the window.
And it's dawned on me that instead of moaning about the sound coming from the garden, maybe move a little bit away from the garden, a little, you know, away from the window, which kind of makes more sense. And the other thing is, I have two desks, like gaming desks, but I had them for a couple of years now. One, I was using for everything.
So I had my microphone, I had my recording equipment. And I was also had the laptop and the iPad and books and writing stuff. It was all jammed onto one table, one desk, and the other desk was just full of junk.
It still is actually. But anyway, what I've done is I've moved the microphone over to the other desk. So I cleaned off the junky desk, emptied it.
When I say junk, it's just bits and bobs. It's not like, I mean, there's not old car parts or, you know, like a missile. Why would there be a missile? I don't know.
Just forget that. It's too early. Yeah, my cigar collection.
I don't know what. So the, what I've done is I've moved one desk. Well, what I've done actually, and it's taken, you might think, why is it taking so long? Why is it taking you so long to actually say the words? You could ask that question.
I had three bookcases the other side of the room near the window. So what I've done now is I've moved all three bookcases to this side of the room. And it's not, I mean, I didn't need a van to move it.
The room's not that big, but it's now, yeah, I'm in this half of the room. That's the corner. So what I've done is I've got a bookcase on the left of me against the wall, and two bookcases behind me, which means I'll be able to, my plan is to start filming, making videos.
I'm not filming this one. This is just going to be audio only, because it's too early to be filming myself. So I've got two bookcases behind me, one to the side of me, to the left.
I've got my, I've got a different chair that I'm sitting in. This is the brown chair, which was in my bedroom. Luke gave me this, and Steve gave me this set here as well, actually.
But this is a, it's just a chair on its own. It's not really suitable for watching TV in. It's not really like super comfy, but it is probably much better for my back than the setting.
However, it's ideal for this. It's ideal for making a recording or making a video because I'm sitting up fairly straight. It's at the right length, length, the right height, rather.
Yeah, so I'm sitting here. I've got two big mats underneath this chair and the desk. So where I am is kind of like a bit of a soundproofing thing going on there.
I've got soundproofing on the walls anyway. But what I might do in the future is get some, something to kind of surround me a little bit when I make these recordings, just sort of a little bit more of a soundproofing thing. But right now it's going to need to do, you know, it's left to do for now.
So on this table in front of me, all I've got is the recording equipment and there's a microphone attached to the desk, which is sticking in my face here. And there's a few bits that are not going to be staying on there, but there's the headphones, there's the, what do you call it, mic, tripod, that's it, that's the right word. So I've got the tripod where, that I'm going to be using for when I film myself.
So that's also on there. And that's it, other than a bottle of water, if I put one on there. So that's it, there's nothing else on that table.
It's very sparse, which is how it needs to be. Because when I was the other side of the room, all those days ago, I had to keep moving stuff in order to get to the recording equipment and moving this, moving that. And I couldn't have the tripods, I couldn't film myself unless I moved the laptop, the computers out of the way.
So this is now here, this is all all set up. And to be left as it is, hopefully. And when I do record a video, also if I video as well, I've got the backdrop, which is just the bookcases with the books on.
I've got two lights, one is in the corner where, where the bookcases used to be. And I've got another big light near the, near the door entrance, or just, you know, just facing at me. Then on at the moment, I do have another light, which I might have, excuse me, I might have it It's in the storage room, but I'll bring it out and might have it just, I don't know where.
Maybe, yeah, I have it somewhere so it's shining on me as well, just to figure that one out at some point. And that's it. So over the other side, so I've got the settee, it's in front of the bookcase, and my little table to the right of it, which is where I put my cup of tea and whatever, you know, just have that there.
So a little side table. And in front of the window is the other desk. It's still got a bit of clutter on there.
So I'm going to tidy that up today. And that's where I'm going to be doing my Yeah, that's where I've got my stuff. So I can have the table, the tables there, the chair when it's tucked in, is out of the way so I can still see the TV and everything.
From the settee. So it's kind of all sorted. That's where I'm going to be doing my studying.
So I might sit in this chair to read, to meditate, things like that, because it's quite a good chair for that. The table, yeah, I have a desk that's going to be for studying, as well as for computer stuff, you know, like edited and uploaded and all that stuff working on the website. Also, in two months time, I start my degree course in psychology.
So I'll be using that desk to study as well. So yeah, that should be alright. It's I think it's kind of pretty much sorted.
I think. We'll see. I don't know what if there's anything else I'm going to need in October.
Other than just the books I need to purchase. I don't even know that the course might come with the book actually. Yeah, I have to look into that.
I think it does actually. Yeah, I think it does. But there'll be other reading that I'll probably need to get.
I have to remind myself, you know, essay writing and things like that. Just get back up to speed with that. So I've done it all before.
Well, I've done a degree before, I've not done this degree. And I mean, this is completely academic. My degree before with the counselling was academic as well, but it was very practical.
Because I was training to be a counsellor. The last, the final year of my degree course before was all academic. So, you know, with a dissertation and all that stuff.
And the previous years, I think I had was it six essays a year, something like that. And, you know, a lot of class classroom time, but it's still for me, it was about the practical side. I mean, this degree course in psychology is going to be all academic, all coursework.
And which I'm cool with. I'm kind of looking forward to it, actually. So that's in October.
I know I probably sound half asleep. It's because I am. I am half asleep.
So I'm not going to do the Q&A Friday this week. But just because I haven't asked for any questions. So I've got no questions to answer.
I'll get back to it next week. I just, I just wanted to do a, do a, you know, do a Let Me Fall Asleep recording. Just because I haven't done one for a week.
That's all ready. Just give you an update on what's going on. There's not much going on.
I just haven't, because I've been focusing on getting this place tidy. And then I got caught up in moving around the room. It kind of, yeah, took up a lot of time.
Yeah, it's the thing is, I don't know if you've those if you've got bookcases and books and stuff. It takes it's quite a lot of moving around. If you've got three bookcases full of books.
So you got to move the, you can only really move one bookcase at a time. You need every flat surface possible. I needed every flat surface possible to put the books in.
And then when I moved that bookcase, what I needed to do is then empty the next bookcase and put them directly into the empty bookcase and then move that bookcase and tidy that all off. But because I only did two bookcases to start with and put everything how I wanted it, I thought I'd done it. I thought it was done until I realized that I wasn't able to film myself because it kept showing the wall, which is patchy because of where the soundproofing used to be.
So I realized, you know, the only way I could film myself and not have that horrible background wall is by turning the chair and look inside on and almost like squashing myself in. And my days of squashing into anything is just, they're gone. I just like to be at all hang out kind of.
I like to relax. There's no point in me doing this or a relaxation session if I'm all kind of squashed. I don't know if that's how I'm explaining myself very well, but, you know, concerned about fitting into a certain little area.
So now I've got the two bookcases behind me. It doesn't matter where I put the camera now on the table facing me. It's not providing I'm in it.
It's going to be books behind me. So there's a fairly decent background. And what I might do in the future, get some cheap lighting behind me, maybe just to brighten up the area a little bit so that the picture's a little bit better.
Maybe we'll have a look into it. It's just that, you know, it won't be long before it's going to be dark or dull, you know, throughout the day with autumn on its way in a few weeks time. And then I don't know when autumn starts in September, I think, isn't it? So it's now the first probably gone through the first week of August.
So probably three or four, maybe five weeks till autumn, unless it doesn't start till October. I'm not sure. I don't know.
I don't know what the rules are. What are the seasonal rules? It's been quite nice weather though. The last.
Well, it rained yesterday. And it was almost like a little bit of a surprise. Oh, has it rained for ages, which isn't true.
But, you know, it rains, it's rained at night a few times, you know, got up and either that or. Well, the cars were wet. I don't know how else they would have got wet.
I mean, I understand how one could get wet, I mean, local drunk or whatever, but not all of them. I mean, no one's got blood at that size. So it must have been raining.
Then yesterday, it rained during the day. And I was so surprised. It's like I've never seen rain before, which really isn't true.
I've seen rain a million times, which also isn't true. So, yeah, other than that, I did some washing. I tidied the kitchen.
Oh, man, honestly, you might think, oh, it doesn't take days and days to tidy. It did. It really did.
It really, really did. The kitchen, I couldn't, I'm not someone that can just do something nonstop for hours and hours and hours, I have to take a break. And there's also the physical side because of my lower back.
I was a lot of bending over and stuff. And yesterday, I was, oh, I was feeling it. That's all I'm going to say.
I was proper feeling it. And it's a little bit better today. But it was, yeah, so three days of scrubbing and bending over.
So I got the bathroom nice. I got the kitchen. When I say nice, I mean, acceptable.
It wouldn't pass. I don't think it would pass. If I was a professional cleaner, and my job was to clean the bathroom, I don't think I'd still have a job.
But I just need some really strong detergent for the toilet. We have a problem with limescale here, like really thick limescale. And that's the problem with the toilets really.
There was a time when you just get caustic soda and put it in the toilet, and that would just clean it. It'd be white, no matter how disgusting the toilet was. After you've done that, it'd be a white, clean, or whatever color the toilet was.
It'd be nice, like brand new. But I don't really have access to stuff like that anymore, which is probably a good thing. So it's restricted for a reason.
But it doesn't seem to be anything that's equivalent. I mean, I even bought some of these tablet things, which it says, like, do not let it touch your skin and keep away. Like, you know, when you put it in your toilet, leave the country until it's settled.
So it's like, okay, this has got to do the job then. Put it in, it sizzles, like, yeah, this has got nothing. Nothing.
Did not do a single thing. That might just be more about how messy the toilet is. But it's not messy as in I've made a mess.
It's just the limescale. I mean, I flush. I mean, what more you can do? You flush.
The weird thing about it is whenever I shared a toilet, especially the last place I lived, I was sharing the bathroom, the shower and the toilet bathroom area with two other people. And every day in the evening, I would clean the toilet and I'd put down some, like, put in some bleach or whatever, some toilet cleaner thing down every single day. And I think I did that here when I first moved in.
And then I stopped. That was a boring story, wasn't it? I know it's supposed to be boring, but wow. My feet have fallen asleep through boredom.
Why is my elbow hurting? I don't remember bashing it. I might have bashed it. Sometimes I bash things and I don't know I bashed them and then that part hurts.
And then later on, sometimes weeks later, I remember bashing it or maybe I bash it again. Like, oh, that's how I bashed it. That's why it hurt.
And then it's too late by then because now it hurts again because I just bashed it again. But sometimes it's nice to know why. That's why I'm getting that really there.
If I know why, I'm not bothered. You know, when I fell down the stairs, fractured my back, I didn't care because I knew, you know, I cared. I mean, obviously it's my body and that, but I was hobbling around, literally hobbling around.
I had to go out because of Vinnie. So I was taking him out and I was really, it was hard, really the hardest physically, probably the hardest period of my life as far as physically, my mobility rather. Yeah, from a mobility perspective, it was very difficult to do anything, not even sleeping.
It was hard because of fractured back. It's difficult. But what didn't bother me, it didn't bother me emotionally.
It was a little bit frustrating, but it didn't bother me emotionally because I knew what it was. I knew the cause. I knew that it was going to reduce, you know, it was going to heal.
That's it. I realized it might take a little bit longer as I'm getting older to heal, which is fine. It's not a big issue.
If I didn't know, if I'd have woken up with that kind of pain and not known what it was, that would have scared the heck out of me. That would be an ambulance job, that would. Mind you, I could have called an ambulance and I did fall down the stairs.
This is a, blimey, it'd be two years in December. It was a week, the week that I got Vinnie, if you believe. And I got him on a Saturday, fell down the stairs on a Wednesday.
Yeah, I don't think he's good. He's good luck, is he? I do a little pose. I'm actually smiling.
It's weird. It was strange. I think for me, it's such a relief to, after waiting for what, 12 hours or something, sitting in a chair with a fractured back and not knowing what it was at that point.
And then the doctor saying, well, we'll send you for an x-ray, but it can't be fractured because you're able to stand up. That's what he said. That was his words.
It can't be fractured, but we have to anyway. We have to give you a CAT scan or whatever it was, just to make sure your spine's okay. But, you know, if you had a fractured back, you'd be in agony and you wouldn't be able to stand up.
I said, I am in agony, but I am able to stand up because there's no choice. How else would I be able to get to where you want us to go? So, you know, sitting down was harder than standing up, to be honest. Anyway, he said, was sitting in that chair because I was stuck in one position.
So we had done the x-ray and he said, oh yeah, it's fractured in two places. And he's like, he couldn't believe that I was able to stand up without making a big fuss. You know, I said to him, I said, you know why that is? He said, why? He said, it's because I'm groovy.
I'm groovy, that's why. He said, what's that? What do you mean? I said, I'm groovy. He said, what do you mean you're groovy? I said, but, okay.
Do you remember the Fonz from Happy Days? Yeah, that's me. That's what I'm like. I'm groovy.
He said, the Fonz never said, he never used to say the word groovy. He just said, hey. Wasn't that one of the things he said? You're looking for a booking? No.
You're wishing for a fishing? Nope. You're asking for a basking? There was a rhyme that he used to say. You're mapping for a slapping? I don't know, something like that.
He used to say this like rhyme. Or was it Mr. T? I get muddled up between the two of them. In the 80s, in the early 80s, or late 70s, early 80s, there was a fair bit of American TV shows where there was catchphrases.
Yeah, like the A-Team. I love it when a plane comes together. And what was the other one? I don't fly.
I don't like planes. I pity the fool. You know, things like that.
And then Mork & Mindy. Nanu Nanu. And the A-Team.
Was it Different Strokes? What are you talking about? Willis? And the Bionic Man? Dididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididid didididididididididididididididid dididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididididid This is when I realised that I needed more in the background. But what I noticed is Vinnie was climbing up on me. Because he can get to me from the settee.
He climbed on the settee and he climbed on me so you'll actually be able to see him. I won't be grabbing him or anything like to keep him here, but if he chooses to climb on me then I'll just let him do that. and he might even end up going to sleep on me or on the side of the chair, so you'll see that, that'll be on the camera, so that'll be cool.
So at least Vinnie will be part of things. So he likes to, well when I'm, yeah I think it's the only reason, if he could, because yeah he does that sometimes, when I was over there, he would get onto the settee next to me, but it was, there was a gap so he couldn't get onto my chair. Here, the armrest of this chair is, there's just, I don't know, probably five inches between that and the armrest of the other chair, so it's pretty much next to each other, well they are next to each other, they are literally next to each other, not pretty much, but exactly next to each other.
So there's not much going on now. I'm tired, it's 3.30, even going to bed at 8.30, 3.30 is too early to get up. I don't know why he woke me up so early, but oh well, 9, 10, 11, 12, 1, 2, 3, I mean technically it's 7 hours sleep, but I'm so tired, I need to go back to bed.
So I've got a food delivery on Wednesday, after a few bits, and it should keep me going until hopefully next week, and got Vinnie some food, because we were, we ran out, well we, I ran out of food for him, not, I do still feed him, but I ran out of the food that he normally has, so I went over to the pet shop on, hmm, I don't know what day it was, maybe it was Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday, it was one of the days, maybe it was Sunday, maybe it was,
I don't know, but anyway, we got these packets of food and he didn't like it, he didn't like the ones that I got, so he ate a little bit of it, but that was, yeah, he wasn't a big fan, so I managed to, I got some food for him on Wednesday, so there's enough there to last him hopefully for over a week, maybe 2 weeks, I think that's 24 packs, so he normally has at least 2 a day, so 14, 28, yeah, so maybe not enough for 2 weeks,
but probably about 10 days, sometimes he does have 3 packs if he's hungry, he'll have a pack, so he'll have his breakfast and then he has something in the evening, sometimes he likes to, he wants to eat in the daytime, and he won't eat dry food upstairs, when he's at home he won't eat dry food, but he'll have them as treats when we're out, so, you know, I just got a go of how he is, and the other day he attacked a dog, why didn't you start with that,
that's the more interesting thing, no, basically what happened is, we were outside here and he's got a thing about black dogs, I don't know why, he's had it, he's been like this for ages now, he sees a black dog in the distance and he barks like proper, really sounds aggressive to me, but I came to the conclusion that it wasn't aggressive, he's just excited, now I'm not so sure I was correct on that one, because this dog that he's seen quite a few times before, it's a huge, huge dog,
like as big as me, but less hairy, no, he's big as me, and I said, it's alright Finn, he says hello, yeah, yeah, it's fine, we're literally outside where I live, because we were just about to come into the entrance, like we were about to enter the building I mean, and she was just walking past, so we kind of met midway, kind of, anyway, so I'm saying hello to her, and I'm saying hello to the dog, it's such a beautiful dog, big, but friendly, calm, you know, it's so docile,
I don't mean it in a bad way, but it's just calm and gentle, gentle giant, and Vinnie, so I'm stroking this dog, and then the dog, the big dog went over to Vinnie, like just to kiss him, you know, just like nose to nose kind of thing, and Vinnie basically went for him, but more aggressive, he was aggressive, and he's like, and snapped at him, he didn't bite him, but he, I mean it could have gone wrong, if that had been a different temperamental, that had been a dog of a different temperament, that size, you know, so I'm now gonna have to keep him away from big dogs.
I've got him on a lead, so it's easy to do, I can still speak to people, but I can't have him go near a big dog, unless he lies down in submission, then that's okay, but other than that, no, he just loves little dogs, he prefers them, and I guess, you know, when I got him, he wanted solo to everybody, every human, every dog, every squirrel, every cat, and over time, things have changed, so he's no longer running up, trying to run up to dogs, like he used to,
some dogs he's not even bothered about anymore, if he doesn't even try and walk up to them, even with the lead, he just ignores them, and carries on with what he's doing, he's not so bothered about going up to every human he sees, sometimes he can be a bit like that, but generally, he's not as interested as he used to be, although he still does love people, and it's mainly the small dogs, that's what he likes, because he can, it's a fair play, because if he pushes on a small dog's head,
and they push on his head, neither of them are going to hurt each other, because they're just playing, but if you've got a dog ten times bigger than him, pushes down on his head, it hurts him, the other dog doesn't mean to, and he's just playing, but it squashes him, I mean literally, it squashes him into the ground, because the strength is just so different, I mean you imagine, a big dog's leg would weigh more than Vinnie does, probably twice as much as he does, just his leg,
so by just resting it, not pushing down, but just resting it on him, flattens him, I mean there's one dog did that, and he likes that dog, but when I got him home, I had to put him on his side, and like pump him up, you know like with a pillow, I had to like pump him up, so that he had to go back to his normal shape, you know like a cushion, because he was out of shape, because this dog had like pushed down right on him, he was flat,
I tried a bicycle pump to start with, but he didn't enjoy that, so yeah just had to, none of that happened, why am I saying that, no but he did, he didn't, he didn't like the dog doing that, and he actually got upset, and I picked him up, and he clung to me, this was a few months back, a different dog, yeah it's weird, he's changed, how he is, I guess he's learning, those dogs that he likes, he still absolutely adores Archie, I mean on a level that I've never seen him with anyone else,
I mean there's a couple of dogs he really likes, there's about three or four that he really gets on with, but Archie is on a different level, they kiss, they cuddle, they fight, play fight, and it's everything, they dance together, on it, and chase each other, and it's love, absolute love, and there's nothing else it can be, it's love, different types of dogs, both small, both around the same size, and you know if I, if I could ever, if not an opportunity, but if there was a,
yeah if I ever had to get another dog, unless I had to have another dog, I had to choose one, it would be Archie, for Vinnie, because I think Vinnie would be happy, they'd have arguments I'm sure, if they lived together it wouldn't be quite as romantic as going on dates and stuff, but I think ultimately they'd probably end up just sleeping together, and cuddling up, and all that stuff, there's a lot of love there, it's, it's a beautiful thing to see, I'm a little bit jealous to be honest,
so outside of that there's not really a lot going on, I've got my books, looking at them, and there's a, there's a few things I need to do before October, one thing is I need to call a dentist up, and make sure that I'm gonna be on the NHS with that dentist, and book an appointment for October, and they might have already booked me an appointment, but I don't remember what it is, so I'm gonna call them up, and I also need to get my eyes tested,
and get some new glasses before my degree course starts, because first of all my eyesight has changed, I know that, and for reading, I'm gonna get separate glasses for reading, I'm not gonna have this anymore, where I've got a lens, or you know, all in the same thing, not doing that no more, so I'll have different glasses for reading, and if I need different glasses for computer work, I'll do that as well, I'll just have a maybe pink, pink glasses, a pink glass frame for them, for computer work,
and then because I'm, I'm always gonna be indoors when I'm wearing them anyway, although I've got no issue with pink, I like pink, it's a nice colour, I've got a pink face, so I might as well have a pink glasses, innit, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, there's not a lot else going on really, this is a bit of a non, probably not the most exciting podcast in the world, but then it's not really supposed to be, is it, not, not really, I don't even know, wow, yeah, I've been talking for nearly an hour,
that's gone quick, yeah, good thing about this, is I won't need to do much editing, because I haven't had Vinnie screaming, or anything like that, which is part of the reason why I'm talking so quietly, not, I mean, I don't normally yell, do I, I don't, I don't think, I don't normally do shout, but this is probably a bit more quiet than normal, just because of how early it is in the morning, and I just, I get a little bit self-conscious, and I don't want to disturb the neighbours downstairs,
although in reality, they probably can't hear me, but nevertheless, I still, you know, want to show a little bit of consideration, con, con, con, con, consideration, so I need to tidy that other desk, so there's a few bits I need to move, which is fine, it's going to take, I'll have it done by the end of the day, and then, then I'm going to look at seeing how the video's going to turn up, going to turn out rather, if I video, and maybe have the tripod in the exact position,
and stick it there, like put some Blu-Tack around each, each of the legs, so that I know where it goes, just, just, I know it doesn't save a lot of time, but it might save a little bit of time, just in the same way I've got the headphones now plugged into the recording studio, so I've not have to, you know, I've got to get the headphones, and test them, and then unplug them, and then put them back somewhere else, so everything's kind of in one place, the only thing I don't have is here with me,
right, this, in this little area, I don't have any kind of internet access, I mean, I don't, I haven't got a, I haven't got an iPad, or I haven't got a laptop in front of me, and I do sometimes, that, by the way, if you heard that click, that was my knee, all I did was just move my leg, and my knee cracked, weird, so yeah, what I might do is get the iPad, and maybe take that out of the case, and just use it as a, well, as iPads used to be used,
because, all right, I should explain this, is I've got a case with a keyboard, I think they call it a magic keyboard, so the iPad is almost like a laptop, so what I can do is take it out of the case, and just have it there, and I guess I can use it, especially with maybe looking to see what the news is, and what's in a magazine, so I can just say silly things about that, maybe, oh, my elbow's hurting, why, why, I'm trying to think of anything else that's happened this week,
Vinnie, tidying, oh, yeah, when the bloke came round, so he came round on Wednesday, about 12 o'clock, and he booked between 10 and one, I think it was, that was the time slot, so I spoke to him, it turns out that he's got a three-year contract, and he's a year and a half into it, to inspect every council accommodation, within his area, and he did, the only thing he said, he needed to see my passport, so one of the things they're looking for is to see if anyone's subletting, which,
of course, I'm not, either way, I'm not subletting from someone, or subletting to someone, that's just, I live here, that's it, but the other thing was, you know, he asked me any questions, is there anything I need, is there anything going on here, like, just, like, property-wise, is there any mould, I said, no, never had any mould, and I said, but that's why I moved out of my last place, because I had mould, and he said, I don't care, just answer the questions, and I said, what, did you just say that to me,
he said, yeah, answer the questions, next question, I said, no, no, no, no, no, no, that was rude, I'm being friendly, and that was just rude, he said, look, I've got other places to look through, you know, I've been doing this for a year and a half, I've got a year and a half left of doing this, and I'd like just to get it done, to be honest, you know, I haven't got time for chat, I said, well, you should make time, sometimes chatting is nice, he said, not today,
it's not, I was like, what, I hear something, Wednesday morning, my neighbour downstairs came up, and she phoned me up, she said, do you want some air freshener for your flat, and the reason be it, it's not so much that it's smelly, although it's, it gets, right, so you've got the window, I've got windows in the living room, and the bedroom, and the bathroom, and the kitchen, so I can open those windows, what I don't have is any air in the hallway, it's very stale there, it's just like, I don't know,
there's no air flow at all, even with all the doors open, and the windows open, the air just doesn't go into that bit, because it's like a corner, so, my neighbour downstairs said, do you want an air freshener, she said, I've got a bit left, you can have it, I said, okay, thanks, I said, can you bring it up, please, because I can't be bothered to come down, she said, but I'm doing you a favour by giving it to you, I said, I know, I know, and you can,
if you're going to bring it up though, she said, no, come and get it, I'm helping you out, you can at least come and get it, I said, no, it doesn't work that way, she said, why, I said, because I was here first, I was the, I'm the king of this building, and you need to start showing some respect, no, none of that happened, she brought it up anyway, and we start talking, and she tells me about how she was in the park with her boyfriend, and this bloke, and this is,
it was late-ish at night, not late-late, but like, I don't know, 10 o'clock or something, and they're just going for a walk, and a bloke was sitting on a wall, a little wall, and he started chatting her up, telling her how lovely she was, and her boyfriend, I don't know where he was, I think he was, he'd been on the phone, so he was a little bit far, a little bit behind, so not far, but I think she'd turned a corner, and he, this bloke was there, so he turned a corner,
probably about a minute later, or 30 seconds later, and the bloke sitting on the wall said to my neighbour, oh, is that your boyfriend, is it, and she said, yeah, so this is her telling me this story, and she's, apparently he was telling him, oh, you're so lucky to have such a beautiful girlfriend, all that stuff, and was trying to kiss her hand, and it was very, he was drunk apparently, or at least he looked like he was drunk, he was drinking, so it's not a great, not a great,
great position for someone to be in, because she's like 19 years old, her boyfriend's probably 20 or something, I know he's 18, something like that, but yeah, so they're, you know, I guess it's something they're not used to, I've seen it happen, I've, I kind of had it happen to me in the past, not, not like in that way, but drunk people talking to me and stuff, so we're just talking about that, and I'm thinking, well, if it's on the estate, I might know the person, and, and if I know them,
I can tell her, I might be able to tell her that, don't worry about it, I know the person, and he's, you know, he might have had something just happened, and he's just, just going through a difficult period, and he's harmless, and he's fine, that's what I was hoping to be able to tell her, just like, I know him, or even just bring him around, introduce him to her, and say, look, he was inappropriate with her the other day, or something like that, you know, whatever, and let her know that he's okay,
he's a decent person, so just a little bit drunk at that time, so she's trying to explain him, explain what he looks like, she's always got dark hair, and he's, I said, well, roughly how old was she, was he, and she said to me, she's always really, really old, and then she paused, put her hand up, and said, I'm not as old as you though, pointing to me, not as old, really old, but not as old as me, I'm still furious, I kicked her out, I said, get out of my home,
that's it, out of my home, out of my life, I will keep the air freshener, now go, let me know if you go into the garage, because I need some milk, get out, I didn't, it's like, really, really old, but not as old as you, wow, the thing is, I'm like, 35 years older than her, 35, 30, I mean, that's just ridiculous, 35 years, 35 years older than her, 35, I was 35 when she was born, that's just ridiculous, really, really ridiculous, 35, I literally, this podcast, my, I've got videos,
that are as old as she is, 35, honestly, I've got a book behind me, that's, what, 32, yeah, I've got a book behind me, that is actually, I've had it for 10 years, longer than she's been alive, my website is older than her, that's just ridiculous, my website is older than her, anyway, yeah, I just thought I'd share that with you, just to give you that little bit of information, I think the Olympics is over now, I did not get involved in any of it, didn't really watch it,
there has been a lot going on in this country, the last week, which, if you watch the news, you know about, you might, I mean, it might not, it might not be shared with you, if you're in a different country, it might not be a thing, they might not have mentioned it, but it's been pretty big over here, a lot going on, and, but, I've not really, that's another reason I haven't really made podcasts, because this wasn't, it's been, yeah, I wasn't in a great, yeah,
it's kind of quite unusual sort of situation going on, and hopefully it will, it will kind of all come to a happy conclusion, I hope, or just stop, full stop, maybe, what's been happening, but I do believe that as far as the the riots that have been going on here, as soon as the weather changes, that'll all stop, as soon as it starts raining and it's horrible outside, I don't think people are going to turn up to do anything, that's what I, that's what I think, that's my personal belief,
whether I'm right or wrong, that will, I guess, I don't know, I hope I'm right, in a way, we're very affected by the weather here, you know, the idea of standing, walking around the streets, protesting in the rain, in the rain, no, no, no, no, no, I don't think that will happen, it might though, I hope, yeah, I'll be honest with you, I think I'm gonna go back to bed for a couple of hours, just, yeah, I think, I think I need to, and then what I'll do is edit and upload this,
because the editing isn't going to take much at all, I'll have to increase the volume because it's quite low volume, so I'll be talking very softly today, a bit more softly than normal, although I hopefully don't talk too harshly, normantarily, so that's it, I'm gonna go, I'll do a Q&A Friday next Friday, but today I'm just gonna do, it's a normal, Let Me Bore You To Sleep, so remember to be kind to yourself, remember to be gentle with yourself, because you deserve to be happy, lots of love, bye
