Hello and welcome to... let me bore you to sleep. My name's Jason Newland and please only listen when you can safely close your eyes. I'm trying to make it a bit brighter.

Lights shining in my face. Hopefully it's not too bright on my glasses. So hello.

My website is jasonnewland.com and I've got my journal, my gratitude journal. So what's it? Monday 31st October 2021. A bit of burpy.

How you doing? You alright? You well? So I... yesterday's recording is I didn't make videos so today I'm doing a video and I've got it plugged in but I'm not sure if it's plugged in, if you know what I mean. I'm not sure. It seems to be plugged in but I'm not sure if it's in properly, if it's in the hole correctly, if all of it's in the hole.

I tried to do it but we'll see. If the camera just stops working then I'll know that it didn't work properly. I'm just having a look.

So thank you for listening. Yes, yesterday I did... I did a Let Me Boy To Sleep in... yeah, overnight. So I released it overnight and then I did a Deep Sleep Whisper Hypnosis recording this afternoon, morning, afternoon time.

So this is kind of the second recording today and it's still quite early. It's about half six-ish in the evening but it's dark outside. It's dark and that's all part of the the wonderfulness of autumn or A-U-T... how do you spell autumn? A-U-T-U-G-M-N-L-S-O something like that.

So yeah, the clocks went back yesterday or Saturday, midnight Sunday or whatever. So we're back to it being an hour darker, like instantly. I just... where's the year gone? Where we gone? I don't know.

So squeaky desk. Oh, I've been thinking and I've got the lights... the last few videos it's just not been very bright at the front and I've been trying to change that because although the picture quality is good, you know, in the videos I did, the picture's good, the quality is good and everything like that. It's just not bright.

I don't want it like, you know, it's not like I want it bright bright, just, you know, on par with the other videos on YouTube. I just want it to be have some light so it's not dull and it was a little bit dull. So I've got the lights because I've got these professional lights, whatever.

I've got them lower down instead of like up there, facing down on me. I've got them now further down, facing on me. So I've got more light and actually towards my face.

So hopefully, but then I've got soft focus on the camera. So, you know, I'm not sure. I know my beard.

I've got an itchy beard today. Now that's boring. I'm talking about an itchy beard.

Or is it exciting? Maybe it's exciting compared to what I normally talk about. It's like, oh, thanks, Jason. At last, he's talking about something that we can really enjoy.

So I've got some noisy people in the garden right now. Hopefully you can't hear them. But what do people find to talk about? Can you imagine they're seeing the same people every day and day in, day out, same people.

It's Halloween tonight, isn't it? Gosh, he's shouting. It's Halloween. So, yeah, you know, people that see each other every day.

How can they do it? How do people do that? How do you how do you tolerate the same person all day, every day? I don't know. I mean, I don't run out of things to talk about, but yeah, for an hour. For an hour, I can talk for an hour.

At a stretch, I could probably do two. But this is easy because I've got no one. I've got no one talking back at me.

I'm just talking at you in a way. You know, it's just me just rabbiting on and talking rubbish for an hour. But to have somebody there day in, day out.

I'm sure it's wonderful. I can't even imagine I'll be able to get through a honeymoon. Honestly, I think a honeymoon would be too long.

Can you imagine a honeymoon lasting a week? Spending a whole week with someone. I just, oh, oh, no. OK, what am I grateful for? Being single, that's number one.

Well, I want to think of something positive, something that is positive, isn't it? What am I, what am I grateful for? What am I grateful for? I can't think of anything. There's got to be something I'm grateful for. Um, I'm grateful for my step mum, because she's lovely.

And she's been my step mum, that's loud, isn't it? She's been my step mum, like officially when she got married to me, father, in 1992, I think. Yeah, I think it was 1992. Yeah, because I had long hair by then, so it must have been about 92.

So, yeah, that's quite a long time, isn't it? Yeah, because it was 30 years last year, or this year, 30 years in August. I think they got married in August. Or was it September? I think it was August.

I think so, I think it was August. Yeah, I mean, it's not of any interest to anyone but them, is it? I know, it's their wedding. I think, I did send a wedding anniversary card, I think, but I think weddings are only really celebratable for the people involved, you know? The whole idea of sending anniversary cards just seems a bit pointless, because the only people that it's important to is the people that are married.

The two people, whoever they are, whatever they are, is just for them, isn't it? It's a personal thing. I mean, I guess, you know, it's shared, the actual wedding is shared with lots of people sometimes, but it's still a very personal thing. You know, if you want me to send you an anniversary card, then you should have invited me on the honeymoon.

That's my thinking. I should have got a holiday as well. Nope.

But why should I send a card then? Maybe it's a bit immature. Maybe? Really? Do you think? So what's the second thing that I'm grateful for? My lovely hair. My hair's weird.

My hair's gone weird. I thought I'm going through that weird period now where it's, it's going grey and I know some of you are looking and thinking, what do you mean going? It's been grey for years, mate. It's been grey for years.

It's been grey for a decade. No, it hasn't. And I have proof.

I have videos of myself from 10 years ago. For five years ago, from 15, 16 years ago, I had videos of myself and I didn't have grey hair. So there.

Or maybe a little bit. A little bit. My beard was not grey.

My beard was completely black or really dark brown. And I had ginger bits. See, the most prominent parts of my beard, the grey bits were ginger.

Because I'm Celtic, I'm like part Irish. So I had ginger hair. There's parts of my body that has ginger hair.

But we don't want to go into that, do we? No, we don't. Oh, let's talk about pubes. No, it's not.

So yeah, what's in the news? Let's not focus on the news. What am I grateful for? Is anyone else? Is anyone else who's watching this or listening to this? Does anyone else do? What's it called? Gratitude journals? Because I'll be honest, I don't find it too easy. Maybe it's because I'm distracted by what I'm doing right now.

You know, I'm kind of busy and I'm doing this. But. Oh.

Hmm. So here's what I've been thinking. Is.

I. I'm thinking of making some videos, but without the camera. So using making videos, finding some recordings that are half decent. You know, editing them.

So taking the introduction away and just having it as like, you know, just a recording, a relaxation or a sleep or something like that. Adding some background music, not the music that I'll use at the moment. I'm going to be changing the music up as well.

So I'm making some changes. And then adding some. Video footage.

So over the top of my voice, adding some music, also processing the recording so that my voice is a bit louder and a bit clearer, getting maybe getting rid of some background sounds, such and such. And then. You know, adding video and uploading it to YouTube.

So it's a nice visual feast for your eyes and maybe even for your ears. So that's what I'm thinking of. I've done that in the past.

I can't remember what happened to those videos. I did play around with that. And because I've got so many recordings available, it might be better to do that than to do this, than to be filming myself on camera.

I don't know. What do you say? What do you think? Now, I know if I keep doing this, then some people will watch. Some people won't.

I don't know how it's going to go. But, you know, we'll see. I need to trim my growing right over my mouth.

That's what I like to do with my moustache. Well, part of the beard and it is it's like it is a moustache, but it stops becoming a moustache. It stops being a moustache.

If you grow the rest of your face. Hairy. So if you've got a beard, the bit on your top lip is no longer a moustache.

And that doesn't make sense to me because it's exactly it's there. It's the same thing. It's just it's not separate from your chin.

It is separate from your chin. But, you know, I mean, like hair wise, it connects like a really fuzzy domino. Trick or something, I don't know, but it's.

See, I'm not a big fan of the colour. I might I might do something. I might actually get some boot polish or some kind of just for men or, you know, to dye my beard.

Dye it black because I think I look really good. I mean, some some might say, well, we couldn't look worse than it does now, which is a bit rude. I think.

A little bit, a little bit rude, a little bit, a little bit. He, you know, uncalled for maybe. So I don't know.

What do you think? I could I could actually have a ginger. I could really go back to how kind of how it was and have a big ginger beard or I could have a blonde beard. But then people mistake me for being a Viking.

And, you know, oh, it's the actor from Thor, because I look just like him. And I don't know. It seems like this is the time in life to really not care and just to do whatever it is I want to do and not worry about it, because it doesn't matter.

So have a mohawk on my head, have piercings in every orifice with this, this cover my face in tattoos, you know, do all the things, wear a hat. Wow. Can you imagine walking around with a bowler hat? So all the things that would people would stare at me for.

I remember years ago I was in London. I think I was doing a hypnosis course. Yeah, I was doing a hypnosis course.

And it was on the embankment. I mean, the embankment is a long, quite a large area. But I was it was near the embankment.

Very busy. So it must have been in the summer. And there is this bloke walking around.

And I swear, he had what the moustache that Hitler made famous. You know, and then he also had his hair down, like brooklyn down to one side. And it's very hard not to stare.

Very hard indeed. Oh, the thing is, Hitler didn't start that moustache. That wasn't his to ruin.

You know, in the same way, the swastika wasn't his to ruin. That wasn't that wasn't a, you know, it didn't have the meaning it has now before he got old of it. But the moustache wasn't either.

The moustache, when you think back. Lauren Hardy. The the bigger one of the two had a moustache like that.

Was it Charlie Chaplin, of course, probably the most famous. Comedy actor of all time, in a sense, Charlie Chaplin had had one. Of course, he actually did the film, didn't he? The dictator making fun of.

Old. Was it Hitler? Did Hitler do it? Make fun of Charlie Chaplin? No. Charlie Chaplin made fun of him, I think.

And. It was a popular moustache. But now, even, you know, 300 years later.

It's still almost not acceptable to walk around. Dressed like Hitler and dress, you know, not I don't mean with the whole uniform and everything, the whole costume, but it's not acceptable to dress to have a moustache like that. You know, the the let's say the Charlie Chaplin moustache.

OK. And I remember I did that myself years ago, I actually I shaved and I shaved my whole face, except that bit there, and I left a nice Charlie Chaplin moustache. And then.

I was a bit ill and I, you know, I had to knock on my friend's door and. We had I needed his help with something, and he said, I'm not going out with you like that. I said, what are you talking about? And he pointed towards my thing, and it's like, I forgot I had it there.

I was going to go out with my Charlie Chaplin moustache. And. Even now, some people might get offended by it, but you can get offended by moustache.

You'd have to have very little going on in your life to be offended by a bit of hair, wouldn't you? By a moustache, especially one as sexy as Charlie Chaplin's. So, I mean, I realize, you know. In the great scheme of things, copying and ruining Charlie Chaplin's moustache, ruining it for everyone, you know, for all time.

It wasn't the worst thing that he did. You know, I realize that it's just it's just I don't know. I think it's quite a cool moustache.

I'm going to I'm going to have one. I'm going to I might even do it on camera. I did that once years ago.

I used to do regular vlogs, regular video blogs. And once I shaved my head and my hair was a lot longer than it is now, and I shaved my head on camera and it was really weird. I might still have that video somewhere.

I don't know where it is, but it might be somewhere, you know, on one of just hidden around somewhere. I don't know. Probably not, actually.

I don't know. It's possible. I've not been very good at keeping track of stuff, of storing my recordings because I had a storage.

I had a hard drive storage separate. And I think it was two terabytes. Huge thing.

I'm going back, you know, seven, eight years ago, huge, really big thing. And then I got one last year and it was about that size, the size of a pack of cigarettes. Wow.

What I really need, what I really need is a storage system that is just unlimited. You know, just like just absolutely huge and that I can send stuff instantly to it. But then, you know, so what about iCloud? Well, iCloud isn't huge.

I pay for the iCloud and it's only two terabytes. Two terabytes is not a lot. If you make videos, you know, a video can be 30, 40, 50 gigabytes.

So you think this is a thousand gigabytes in a terabyte. So that's only 20 videos per terabyte. If the video is 50 gigabytes, it's not a lot.

You know, so the iCloud isn't, I don't know why it's limited to two terabytes, because I would pay for extra if it was available. If I could get 100 terabytes or 20 terabytes, then I would. But they don't offer it.

So what they offer is two terabytes. And I don't understand why. I didn't understand why.

But it'd be good to have a hard drive where I could just send everything from the iPad or from the laptop or from my phone directly to the hard drive and it saves everything. So everything I do is just automatically saved. And yeah, but I don't.

And wireless, that's what I need. I need stuff that's wireless. I get fed up with all these wires, having to plug things in.

I just want to be able to just... There are ways of doing this, I know. I don't know. I don't have the knowledge or possibly even the money to do it.

I definitely don't. I don't have the knowledge. I don't know what how to do that stuff.

But to have a really streamlined studio where the podcasts and the videos and, you know, it's getting there, it's getting there. But there's loads of wires, wires everywhere. I mean, I can't show you because the camera's facing towards me and it would involve picking it up and stuff.

And I can't be bothered. But it's why it's very... I'm just making... I'm touching the wrong thing. Touching my pen, getting it all over my thumb.

It would be nice to have it nice and tidy. And what I did do today is I found an AI that produces music because for my podcast, I've been thinking about it's time I switched it up a little bit and made and had some different background music, not just the same background music all the time. So maybe try and look at getting some different music.

But at the same time, something original that no one's ever heard of before. And the only way I can do that is using AI because I'm not a musician. So you can actually produce music online using a website, you know, AI website.

The problem is I had... I got 10 minutes worth of music and it was like classical, but it's completely original. No one's ever had it. You know, it's nowhere else in the world.

But they wanted, I think, like five dollars to pay for it, but just for personal use. Now, this isn't personal use, putting it onto YouTube, using it for background for a podcast. It's not personal use.

So to have it as my own copyright, I think it would cost me like, I think, hundreds of pounds. It's like, really? Really? You know, I was hoping. I was hoping that there would be and there probably is.

I have to do some research. An AI music creator. Which has a subscription, you know, 20 pound a month for whatever a month.

And then I have unlimited downloads. I can make as many as I want. And I have the copyrights for it.

But I'll pay for the monthly subscription. So I have to look into that. As far as the video, making the videos or the background, um, video clips of like waves on the beach and, you know, just all kinds of short video clips.

That's going to cost money. But one of those that I found also does music, which you can download and use as well. Again, it's but that's part of the that's part of the subscription.

And it's, it's not, none of them are cheap, cheap. Some of them are okay, but it adds up, you know, all these different websites and different services. But I kind of come to the point where I want to, you know, I did last year, I got more equipment.

But I think it was kind of the end of last year. And during this year, so to upgrade in a sense of the quality of the sound, the quality of the videos that I make the quality of everything, the background music with the videos, you know, I did lots with the podcast and you know, so I've done a lot of that stuff, which did help. I think helped it go to a new level of, you know, people watching and listen, not watching but listening.

Now, I want to do more, I want to improve. So I think for now, the videos are okay, the quality of the videos, the best it's ever been so far. The audio is, I still need to work on the audio, I need to figure out a bit better how to use this.

Zoom a live track l8 studio. So still a bit of work to do there. I broke my headphones, look at this.

I'll call it headphones just been to the toilet. That's bad. And look, now they're not expensive headphones.

So but I just broke, I basically got up too quick from this desk, and tripped over and pulled all the stuff off the desk, off the table desk, whatever. And I must have stood on them. And if I stand on something, it breaks, it doesn't nothing, nothing stays intact when my big belly stands on something.

So now I need to get some new headphones. So I've got no headphones at all. And I'm still using them, I'm trying to hold them together, just so I can listen.

But I don't use headphones when I'm actually during the recording, because even though I can't hear myself, it's very uncomfortable. If I'm honest, it's very uncomfortable to have headphones on while I'm making recordings. Just well, the ones I got headphones, I got just feel uncomfortable.

So it would be different if I was communicating with another person. And, but it's, it's almost I prefer not to hear my voice. And I can hear my voice.

You know, with me is, but I don't necessarily want to hear my voice through headphones. Now, I realized that if I was a recording artist, if I was in a professional recording studio, I would have headphones on. But I'm not so there.

Oh, I don't know. I mean, it might help. But I'm also looking, I want to get a different setup for the ASMR stuff.

Because I don't think this microphone is the right one for that. I need to get something that's a bit more. I don't know, because I did a whisper video, a whisper recording earlier.

And I wasn't happy with the sound. I don't know if it's I'm too far away from the microphone or too close to the microphone or whatever. But, you know, I don't want to be right in the microphone.

And, you know, the microphone technique, it says you're supposed to really talk across it rather than directly into it. I don't know if that's how I don't know how true that is. But I've got I've got some microphones in my storage.

So what I might do is I might even get two microphones out and use both at the same time. And see if I can do some kind of ASMR whisper where it's not distorted, you know, where it works fine. And if it does, then it just means the desk will be a bit fuller because I have this for normal podcasts and have them for the whisper stuff.

But then it's going to pick up background sounds. We'll just see. We'll see.

I've got a few microphones, so I just have to test them out to see which one is the best for that particular thing, I guess, I suppose. I imagine. I have another drink.

Oh, what's my second gratitude? What do you reckon? Gratitude, I'm grateful. Gratitudinal for my linguistic ability. I was trying to think of something.

It's Halloween tonight, which means, which means that I probably won't get a lot of people listening tonight during the well in the early evening anyway, because people a lot of people will be out when they be in Halloweeny. And then a lot of people, I guess, will be indoors with the lights off, so they don't have to answer the door, pretend not in so they don't have to answer and give chocolate and candy to the little devils. Did I ever do Halloween? Why am I talking so high pitched? I don't know.

Did I ever did? Did I ever? Did I ever do Halloween? Yeah, manly voice. I don't know. I can't remember.

Honest truth. I can't remember ever dressing up on Halloween. I might have done I'm talking about when I was a kid.

But I don't remember it. Genuinely don't remember it. Now when I was a kid, I didn't get invited to parties.

Which, for some reason that I find funny, but at the time I didn't, for some reason. Never got invited to parties. I got invited to one birthday party.

I think the whole of my childhood. I'm not talking about obviously your brother's family and stuff like that birthday parties. I'm talking about friends, school friends.

I only got invited to one birthday party and this was I think I was in I might have been in the first year of high school. I might have been in junior school. So I was like maybe 10, 11, something like that.

And it was a girl at school who I really liked. And I guess she must have liked me because she invited me to a party. And there was other people there as well.

And she lived, weird if it was just me and her, wouldn't it? But she lives in a rectory. In a rectory. And she, so her dad was a pastor or a priest or a bishop or something.

He was to do with the church. I don't know what church. I do know what church, but I don't know what, you know, what kind of church it was.

And wasn't Mormons. And it was, was, I don't know. Honestly, I can't remember.

Anyway, I didn't know him, but I knew her. And I just my, my ankle just cracked. What are you doing? Shut up.

Shut up. And I went along to her and she had a massive house. Like absolutely huge.

And she had a, she had a church in her garden. And that's something I could relate to because I used to live in a place when I was a kid, when I was younger, younger than that, where we had a church in the garden. So I could kind of relate to that.

So she had a church in her garden. That's cool. You're the only, the only other person I've ever met that had a church in her garden.

So she, she invited me. So I must've been in a, in her class at school or something like that. Maybe she invited everybody.

Not everyone in the world, but you know, everybody that was in her class. But I don't remember. I went along.

It was lovely. It was really good. I think we played, I'm spitting everywhere now.

I think we played pass the parcel or something like that. Yeah, I think we did. Or no musical chairs.

Is that pass the parcel musical chairs? Yeah, maybe both. And I mean, I liked it because it was free food. I've always been partial to a bit of free food and I really liked her a lot.

Really did. Right. So that's it for me for the day.

So look after yourselves, remember to be kind to yourself, be gentle, lots of love. Bye.
