Hello and welcome to Jason Newland dot com. My name is Jason Newland and this is Let Me Bore You To Sleep. Please only listen when you can safely close your eyes.
I have a toothache. It's not funny. I don't know why I'm laughing.
I have a toothache. My tooth is hurting. So I managed to get a dentist appointment.
And it's weird because, well first of all I've been putting it off. So I've had problems with that tooth for a while and it's got to the point where it's, I could feel it was like aching and I was constantly trying to sort of clean around the teeth and make sure there's no food and you know make sure everything was nice and clean and nothing got compacted in there because there's a few gaps, a few holes as it were. And my excuse is that during lockdown I couldn't get an appointment.
But it's now 2022 so it's nearly two years that they've been available. I don't really have an excuse other than I just don't get out much. I don't leave my home very often and for various reasons.
So I called them up. I called up the dentist. Couldn't get through.
Couldn't get through. Didn't answer. And then I phoned them up again and again.
I think 11, 12 times I think I called them throughout the day. I phoned them at I think one o'clock. We're now closed for lunch.
We're closed. We open at two. The answer machine said at two o'clock or 2.30 we close for lunch.
We open at two. Eventually quarter past or 20 past four they answer the phone. As you know I was called up again about half three.
It was engaged and then four o'clock it was engaged and eventually I got through. Now I'm not complaining because it was a good result. But I called them up and I spoke to this lovely, lovely lady on the phone and she said it's a lady or a eunuch.
It's a very high, very high voice. So I'm assuming it's a lady. It doesn't make any difference does it really.
For the case, for the sake of the story and I said to he or she I said, hi I'd like to make an appointment please. I've got my tooth, tooth hurts. My little toothy hurts and she said oh and she said are you, are you a member? Like are you, you know with us? And I said yeah, yeah I am.
I'm a patient. I've been before a few times and she looked up, looked up my details. Asked my name and I gave them a name.
Jason Newland, N-E-W-L-A-N-D. She said Newland. I said no, Newland.
She said Newland. I said no, are you not hearing my surname, my pronunciation? She said do you mean pronunciation? I said no. Obviously it's pronunciation is it? If you're pronouncing something, why would it be pronunciation? Otherwise would we say I'm pronouncing that.
You didn't pronounce, you didn't pronounce that properly. No, she didn't pronounce that properly and she said can we just get on with the call? I've got other people waiting. I said sorry.
She said you're going to talk about this in your podcast don't you? I said yeah, probably am. She said you really need to get yourself a life. If you're going to, if you're going to have a podcast and you're going to talk about conversation with someone on the phone from the dentist, then you have a very, very boring life.
I said ah, but what's the name of the podcast? She said it depends which one you're going to do. I said okay, fair enough. I've got more than one podcast but what's the one that I'll be talking about this in? She said let me bore you to sleep or maybe the ASMR let me bore you to sleep or potentially whisper let me bore you or maybe let me bore your pain away.
I said well, to be fair I could talk about it with let me bore your pain away but I need the pain to go away first and she said but you deal with pain don't you? I said yeah, but chronic pain, not acute pain. Toothache is acute pain. It's you know it's not this is because of an injury or an infection or you know an actual thing that's happening.
Chronic pain is when you have pain after the event when you don't need to have it anymore. When there's no like medical reason in a sense of there's not a warning if you know what I mean. She said can we just get on with the with the appointment you know and I said okay.
So she looked me up she looked me up she looked up in the system so it's Newland. I said no it's Newland. So what's your date of birth? She said 26 08 70.
Okay 26 08 70. Okay um well I'm afraid you're no longer a patient here. I said what? She said are you deaf? I said I think you'll find it's hearing challenged.
Is that right? Hearing challenged? Hearing disabled? It's not deaf you don't use the word deaf anymore. She said I use the word deaf. I said okay fair enough and I said well if I was wouldn't that I mean I've got I've had problems with my ears over the years.
I used to be partially deaf when I was a child and I had an operation to sort of try and sort that out which meant that you know being partially deaf put me behind in school because I didn't really hear what was going on and I didn't say anything so I was well behind. She said this is way too much information and I said yeah I know but I'm used to doing that you see. I don't I haven't spoken to a human really for ages and she said this isn't a chat line you know this isn't the Samaritans you know.
I said really? I got the wrong number again. She laughed and she said you're not a patient you know you haven't been here since 2018. We changed the system over we rebooted the surgery so it's a it's the same surgery but it's different in some way and anyone that hasn't been here since 2018 on the NHS is no longer an NHS customer.
I said oh. She said you can book an appointment as a private customer and I said oh. For those that are non-English I'll try and explain a lot of you may understand what NHS is but there's also people that won't so you know I'm not I know anyone from England or from Scotland or Wales will understand but basically we've got the NHS is a National Health Service which is our health service so the hospitals, doctor surgeries, you know operations, dentists, I mean dentists used to be under this as well so everything's free to residents of the United Kingdom like the people.
I think it's a little bit different for people that have moved here or that's from other countries. I'm not sure I think it's a little bit different because someone told me that she had to pay to use the NHS for doctors so again I don't know quite I didn't really delve into that but generally it's free it's free for people to use there's no charge so if you need a doctor's appointment or hospital if you have an emergency or you need to walk in and have x-rays or you know anything like that it's all free.
It's not free because we pay taxes and National Insurance and all things like that I think it's taxes rather but we pay for it but you know it's free at the point of use if that makes sense and a lot of places aren't a lot of countries don't have that and I think most countries don't have that some do a lot don't so it's kind of a kind of an alien concept in some ways I suppose just like the idea of having to pay is kind of an alien concept to me you know the idea
of going to hospital and having to coming out with a like a huge bill but that happened to my dad you know he went to Russia not recently I bought him a ticket no not recently he went on holiday it's that blimey probably 10 years ago and he came down with a chest infection like really hot it was hospitalized it was that bad and unfortunately we've got chest infections in our family my nan used to get really bad my dad does or has every now and then and unfortunately I seem to get them so it's
just one of those things it's I'm very lucky thanks dad I've heredited his chest infections and his piles yeah thanks thanks father thank you ever so much so he ended up even though he was fully insured like my dad's very astute he does things correctly I'm a little bit like that in some ways I like to do things correctly but sometimes I can't be bothered it's I go between the two but I do like other people to do I expect other people to do things correctly even if I don't so I'm definitely a hypocrite just
like all other humans maybe so I I did I did by the oh yeah my dad so he was ill he was in hospital I don't think he was in hospital for a long time maybe two days three days two days something like that and at the end of it he got handed a bill and he said but I'm insured you know he had his travel insurance his health insurance accident insurance everything he's insured up to the hill before he goes away on holidays always covered but for some reason the insurance wouldn't or they I
don't think so much the insurance wouldn't accept it they wouldn't accept the insurance so my dad ended up paying thousands of pounds to the Russian hospital and then had to claim it back they wouldn't let him leave the hospital till he paid it and he had to claim it back when he got home I mean having a chest infection on holiday I mean I know what that feels like because I've been through that myself not to that level blindly not to being in hospital but that that is bad enough but I didn't have to go
through all that rigmarole of paying out loads of money which may have left him short for the rest of the holiday I don't know you know I don't know how much he budgeted for the holiday but to have to pay out thousands of pounds is this is not good is it anyway he did get the money back from the insurance as far as I know but it's a shame because going to Russia was something he was looking forward to doing and he's since he's retired he's been a traveler he's traveled around the world and he
loves it been on cruises and all kinds of stuff he's he really likes uh getting out and seeing new things and you know he's I think that's probably when he's happiest I think apart from drinking scotch watching telly and falling asleep and spending time with the grandchildren he's basically a grand he's a granddad he's he's just a standard granddad really I guess and anyway oh yeah the dentist so I'll speak this lady on the phone is lovely she's absolutely lovely really friendly so she was telling me um you're no longer on our books um she
was a apologetic she just you know I'm sorry about that you haven't been in since 2018 I said well I did try and come in 2019 but because it was a lockdown you were closed for two years and I was told I couldn't come and then I tried to then then I said I don't really get out very often because I've got mental health issues I've got bipolar and as soon as I said that she said oh wait a minute now I know that on my file on the when I signed up with them I
don't know it was probably seven maybe maybe oh blimey maybe eight nine years ago um they don't do off any medical conditions and it included mental health and I did put down bipolar and the lady uh she filled the form in for me because I didn't have any glasses I didn't have my glasses on because at the same day I was having my glasses being done at the at the um glasses place so she filled a form in so I told her bipolar and she said oh my brother's got bipolar or something like that someone
that she knew had bipolar so she was very um I don't know if the word compassionate is the correct word but she was very friendly and open and non-judgmental and stuff and when I mentioned that to this lady on the phone lovely lady she sort of put me on hold she said wait if you just wait a minute please and then she went put me on hold for only about a minute she came back and said well I'll just I'm gonna see what I can do and then she put me on hold for another minute
or so and then she came back and said uh I've sorted something out for you can you be here by five o'clock and I said no but I would have done but there's it's almost an impossibility because it was 20 it was 18 minutes past four it's now 20 minutes 23 minutes five so it wasn't long ago I had this conversation and I said to her I would if I could but the next bus isn't till probably just before five and even if I ordered the taxi it's coming all the way from town which takes
about 25 minutes to get here before I even leave so the chances of me getting there by five are pretty much impossible and she said if I walked it's two hours she said why are you even mentioning two hours walking I said I don't know she said it wasn't really relevant was it I said no not really but it's not the first time I've said irrelevant stuff and I'll probably continue to be irrelevant for a fair while yet she said yeah but I've got customers waiting to talk to me I said oh but wouldn't you
rather talk to me she said no not really okay fair enough and she sorted me she said okay she put me on hold again and she came back said how about tomorrow she gave me a time like really it's like you she said yeah I said wow okay yeah brilliant I said I'll get there whatever it takes even if I have to get a taxi I'll make sure I'm there at that time now I should have just confirmed it was NHS not private because she didn't explicitly say you will see you on the NHS but
yeah you know are my fingers crossed or someone's shouting in the garden I mean on on the NHS then it's no charge I think just from past experience the tooth will probably have to be removed and if it if it is a case then I'm fine with that it's fine get it gone and they might have to remove two two teeth because the one next to it is broken in bits and it's basically yeah it's the same two teeth as on the other side so it'll be fine it'll be it'll take a little bit of
getting used to eating I'll have to use my front teeth to chew food it's weird that I can laugh about it but it is what it is man I mean they've lasted I've lasted 50 odd years so that's good my teeth my front my top teeth are pretty good but I'll just get it done and it hopefully they might not take out they might not have the time I might have to they might come and look at it and say well you have to come back and have it removed next week or something but they
might be able to patch it up so it doesn't hurt you know maybe get rid of the part that's hurting me or something I don't know we'll see we'll see what happens I'm not really worried either way I just thought like it is it's humming it's really and the thing is it's annoying but you know the old you know with pain it's like it's not dangerous it's not dangerous pain I'm not in danger so I haven't got really worried too much about it I know what's causing it I know what it is it's just a
toothache that's it it's it's not an abscess or anything like that because if it was I would not be doing a recording right now would I let's face it I would have ran I would have run to that appointment at five o'clock in fact I probably would have been knocking on their door at nine this morning so yeah it's it's not that level it's just just a toothache had them before I'm sure I'll have them again not that one because that one's mind you you don't know if it is like just a bit of rotten
tooth and they just get rid of it they dig it out and put a filling in then that might be it I might you know it might be sorted who knows who knows do you know I don't I've got no idea right okay today can't believe it's uh it's a week since I did my did a let me boil you sleep when I talked about my gratitude journal so I'm going to fill my gratitude journal in today three things I'm grateful for um I can't think of anything what's the date today Tuesday the 18th 18th
October I'll tell you what I'm grateful for number one and this is something I'm always grateful for but mate I think the thing about the gratitude journal is to actually get in touch with that feeling and also to actually recognize that I'm grateful for it it's really just like well of course I am it's I guess it's in a way it's like being with someone and and not tell you know being in a relationship a romantic relationship and not telling the person that you care about them assuming where you should know you should know I
love you I'm with you there's some people that might be enough it might well be enough I don't know I've not done a survey I know for some people it isn't I've been told I have been told on occasions it's not enough just to assume what's this say assume you know I don't assume makes an arse you know I assume um I don't know yeah do you imagine how many people listening going it's an arse out of you and me it's an arse word in it just say it no I'm not gonna say it yeah
so my listeners is the number one on my gratitude list I do I appreciate my listeners in fact I've got something to read out where's my phone there it is there it is I'll make sure it's not anywhere near the microphone because it might buzz okay right put a gentle we're waiting for your appointment um okay well I'll make sure they've got to fill some forms in I clicked on the form to fill it in online but it wouldn't allow me in the portal this is for the dentist so I'll get there a half eleven
or something it really makes no difference to me I'll get there at 10 if they want me to I'll wait for two hours I don't care I don't mind so I had this message sent to me where is it it's a while back new custom message Thursday God you need to seriously consider losing weight I've already read that one out to you I was very pleased with that message thank you this one's from Heidi it was sent on the 8th of October and I did reply a few days later I mean because that's 10 days
ago I did reply on the 16th so that's eight days blimey but I sometimes I get a message and I read it when I'm in bed and when I wake up unless I know I might get up go for a wee wee and then uh you know avoid that part avoid that part of the carpet for the rest of the year no go to the toilet and then come back and sometimes I'll just check the phone just see if there's any messages anything like that uh make sure no one's phoned me you know just in
case there's an emergency just just generally sometimes I'll check my stats see this is a this is something I'm constantly checking and so in so it might be like three two o'clock in the morning I might go to bed at 10 and I'll read this I'll read a message I think oh that's lovely and then I'll put it down and I'll wake up the next day like maybe four five six and I'll just not that I've forgotten the message but uh I'll forget to reply does that make sense yeah it does to me um so
this message is some is a message I really should have replied to I did reply in the end but it's from Heidi and Heidi's been listening to my podcasts for quite a while so anyone that listens to these let me bore you to oops anyone listens to these let me bore you to sleep recordings probably has an idea that I'm not always um I don't say on the ball but I have a few moments every now and then where I don't that I'm kind of uh out of the game is it out of the game
I don't know what the right word is yeah I'm maybe I'm not the most organized person in the world I'm trying I'm I'm working at it but you know that's why even though I try and do live stuff I try and I did one yesterday or the day before I did a live stream on YouTube Facebook at the same time and I recorded it on my podcast it's too much I can't I can't relax if I'm on camera I just I used to be fine with it I did it for years and years and years
and years and made over a thousand videos over that time but now I just yeah I just no it's not for me I like the just the pace and there's no reason why it should be any different kind of pace making videos just making a podcast but for me there is it feels different feels different and I like well I just prefer podcasts I prefer just making voice recording and I feel like I could be myself doing this I'm not self-conscious at all maybe I should be and I realize I probably share way too much
but I don't feel that way when I'm making a video I feel self-conscious I do um well you know I've been honest I don't like the way I look I don't like the way I look on camera it's not you know I'm just older I don't I never did like the way I looked but there's you know there's times when I didn't look too bad I was all right you know I was maybe I just got used to seeing myself but and it's I guess really there's nothing wrong with the way I look in the
sense of um you know kind of you know as far as just being someone to watch on YouTube I'm sure I wasn't too grotesque but it's just yeah this doesn't feel right to me doesn't I didn't enjoy it don't enjoy it anymore and live streams are just I feel pressure to do them not I don't do I don't feel pressure to do them but I feel pressure while I'm doing them and it's not enjoyable I guess there's moments where it's fun but when I forget and maybe I'm chatting to people leaving messages and but yeah
it's I think those days are gone I think for some reason especially over the last four years five years or whatever that I've been making podcasts I've been making podcasts since 2016 but 2006 rather but I've put more I spent more of my time making podcasts over the last four years since like November I think it was 2018 or was it 2017 I lose track but since then I've really focused pretty much my whole energy on making podcasts and distributing them and promoting them and editing them and getting decent equipment and blah blah you know
all the stuff connected to it and I don't know I think video's gone for me there's a little bit of a worry like what happens if people stop listening to podcasts but then I think well even when people weren't listening to podcasts when podcasts weren't even popular and they weren't popular for years they became popular for a couple of years back in the late 2000s and then they just dropped off and very very they weren't popular at all it wasn't a big thing it's only the last three years or whatever that they've kind of three
or four years that have become popular popular now before they became popular I was still getting 200,000 downloads a year on my other podcasts you know the I used to be on um what was I on the music one oh dear what was it called SoundCloud that's it I used to be on SoundCloud so you know it was going well on there but it was you know I got a little bit of feedback not a huge amount but at the same time I was still doing the videos it's kind of but I focused more on
podcasts you know for a few years and SoundCloud it was that was going quite well it was growing and as I said so you know if I'd have kept that SoundCloud account you know no pretty sure it would be in in many many millions by now of downloads but I decided to focus and use Spreaker instead so it's just I tested so many out so many pretty much all of the different podcast hosts some are limited in a sense of they wouldn't let me upload all my back catalog which was the point of what I
was doing I wasn't starting again from fresh I was I wanted to continue so put all the back catalog thousand recordings whatever and then continue from there but some podcasts that wouldn't allow it some would allow it but then it frees my account and I say why have you frozen it's they you know contact them they say well you've uploaded too much stuff I said yeah but that's why I'm paying you and they said well you know how many how much more stuff are you going to upload and I said I'd say well I don't
know another uh cut a hundred hours worth really yeah so they'd unfreeze me and let me do that and they'd have a normal even though it was unlimited they'd have a limit you know a hidden limit of what they thought was fair use and I said it's not going to be a huge amount once once I've uploaded all of this then all of the old stuff I won't be releasing huge amounts every week that was back then of course there are days when I do release a lot all in one day in a month I
can't even imagine how much I release is you know even though I might have the odd few days off or even a week off I still tend to do quite a lot in a month I do I do I really really I really do so anyway the point I was making is this oh yeah it's a Spreaker when I tried Spreaker out I was really impressed that they for some reason I was getting good statistics good downloads straight away now not good compared to now but good compared to then considering it was new and you
know it's like wow so I stayed for a few months then I left and then I came back and I decided and then from then on because you can have multiple podcasts on one account instead of having to open another account and pay again you know for each podcast and I think you know by 2018 I had already was it too fast you know I lose I lose complete track of all right so it's November 2018 but I started the Let Me Bore You To Sleep podcast in March 27th of March 2018 so I'd already
started it I think I started it on Spreaker I think so unless I just had it on SoundCloud I can't remember it's such a long time ago I can't remember but then can you believe the boring objects I started in 9th of August 2021 blimey the first bedtime story time although I don't seem to do these days oh it says here July the 1st 2020 the first deep sleep whisper hypnosis one January the 1st of January 2015 blimey that is just wow isn't it stress and anxiety was that one let's see when the first one
of those I did oh okay according to this the first relaxation hypnosis of stress anxiety and panic attacks when I actually did a recording it says it was published 27th of April 2020 I have a recollection it was much earlier than that but I guess it wasn't wow oh okay fair enough no no it wasn't couldn't have been because they say oh maybe it was maybe it was maybe it was did I say what date did I say 7th so number 12 was the 27th of April 2020 so clearly that's when I re-uploaded them so
we're probably talking 2018 maybe 2019 I suppose but more likely 2018 I remember making them and I kind of need a different way of putting them a different podcast just for those just for those even I've got the relaxation hypnosis for stress and anxiety I need to have a separate podcast just for those individual relaxation hypnosis for stress anxiety and panic attacks the reason being is because I did 129 recordings so I've done quite a lot and they're like a standalone recordings I was quite pleased with all of them to be honest well I don't
know about all of them but um I've uploaded them I've not they were they were named why have they not got names on them that's very lazy of me oh well I wonder what that's all about anyway so I I should read this message out says dear Jason this is from Heidi okay dear Jason I wanted to thank you for your new podcast let me bore your pain away it's genius those are my words not hers no that's her words it's genius it's genius now she only said it once but some things are worth repeating
some things are worth repeating I always listen to let me bore you to sleep and it definitely works but this one is different more calm and peaceful really more calm and peaceful just what I need sometimes also the insights about the body and brain work together I love it the example about the burning car outside that makes you forget the pain for example I experienced such things myself luckily not with a burning car and I thought I must be nuts your explanation showed me I'm not hope you're okay you sound like you have a cold
or chest infection again love Heidi no I don't I think I must I felt a bit blocked up the other day this is a week ago sometimes you know when the weather changes when it goes from like well summer to autumn autumn everyone say it together fall no autumn do you mean fall no or when it gets to that time of the year when it's a change of the season I get a little bit bugged up a little bit bunged up a little bit a little bit does anyone else get that I don't know I'm
sure it can't just be me can't just not everything can't just be me surely surely no it can't be so thank you for that I appreciate it Heidi I did another let me bore your pain away today and it's kind of making me realize as time goes by that I prefer oh click I have only done one of my things and I it makes me I start to I prefer this type of recording this suits me just suits me better whether it suits the listener better is that's another question I guess and time will tell
time time will give me the answer to that but I'd like to do more of this so let me bore you to sleep I'm a little bit worried that it's not relaxing I tried it's supposed to be kind of relaxing is it not relaxing not relaxing is it my squeaky voice is that getting away at the relaxation I don't know now I do have another podcast let me bore your stress away I've only done one recording on there this is about two three years ago I think I think let me have a look is it
still on here let me bore your stress away I deleted it why did I did no I didn't still there there's one recording December the 9th 2020 duration one hour and one minute and 52 seconds so I don't know what that's like I've never listened to it it's had no listens no sorry 18 downloads in that time not my most popular podcast but then there's only one episode I can't share it on any of the podcasts suppliers or places you listen to you can't do it just with one recording so I'd need to make a
few recordings before I could do that so I don't know maybe I could do that do more of that do more maybe but I kind of I had this dream a waking dream it was dry and I remember thinking and this is long before I even did any recordings before I even made any recordings this was a seed in my head in my mind long before I even talked into a microphone I guess I was thinking at that point more in the sense of DVDs but then when the internet came along I was thinking oh
if I could do a recording and people could listen to it and podcasts weren't around at that time there were there was ways of streaming stuff in a what was it called what was that that place that you could download things for free Napster is it Napster and I remember once I had this thing so I tried air I mean literally not saying everything but I tried out so many different ways to provide my recordings to people one what there is this one app or not app this software or is a computer thing but anyway
I use my computer as a server and made my recordings available for people to download and listen to stream or download but I left them on my laptop and my laptop was open and connected to the internet 24 hours a day so I'd go home I go to work I'd do whatever I was doing and I'd see and I've had loads of people downloading and it will be part of this I think torrent site and people would download my stuff I didn't really understand what I was doing but people were downloading my things they were
downloading my stuff so you know and there was another time when I was with I forget the name of it a podcast site and this was again 10 14 years ago maybe maybe 12 years ago and I was with it on this site and it was a podcasting site but they had their own audience they had a huge audience so when I uploaded my stuff there I was getting thousands of downloads like almost instantly it's brilliant however they charged a lot of money to be on this site it wasn't cheap and at the time it
was too much really for me to pay because I was at university so yeah it was while I was at university so we're talking 2007 2008 2009 so around that time and I couldn't afford the amount that they were charging so I'd go on there I'd pay monthly and in reality it probably wasn't a huge amount but at the time it was a bit too much for me to pay and it was it's like whoa that's brilliant all these people downloading and I was getting people leaving messages and all kinds of stuff it's really good
and could also connect to iTunes Spotify didn't do podcasts back then there weren't many podcast apps back then either because smartphones were fairly new yeah I don't think there was much in the way of podcasting apps that you could listen to podcasts on your phone I mean maybe I'm wrong there might have been might be loads but I don't remember there being any many so I couldn't really share the podcast so much I shared it on my website you know embedded the recordings and all that stuff so just I suppose the same way that I
do now wow wow blimey blimey blimey blimey going back who'd have thought all those years ago sitting in my bedroom behind my desk with my big book collection behind me I had a lot of books back then on bookcases free bookcases behind me loads of big textbooks psychology loads of hypnosis books NLP books lots and lots and lots and lots of and sitting there making the very first video which I think was a relaxation video I think it was in black and white and I had actually held up I had a sponge kind of like
a kind that you clean a car with so I had a sponge still in this packaging with plastics a package of black don't know why I even had that sponge or where it came from I don't remember but I had a piece of card or a piece of paper with my website written on and I had it on the table in front of me at one point I lifted it up and just showed the camera and I did this on a on a webcam logitech webcam I say logitech because they were pretty much for years
they were kind of they weren't the only people that made webcams but they were the main people and the yeah that was it the microphone and it was connected to the to the computer and I use windows video recording software because windows used to have a video thing and I just recorded it on there and then I uploaded it to myspace I think it was uploaded it to myspace and it all kind of went from there myspace la la la la la la la la la la la myspace founded in 1st of august 2003 it's
still around featured content on myspace turn the volume down just in case music comes on it's still around myspace is still there myspace.com charlie xcx oh it's gone now charlie xcx charlie xcx shares full crash track who's charlie xcx she looks like someone I know that I've seen before charlie xcx no it's not 1982, 92, 2002, 2012, 2022 she's 40 oh okay charlie xcx I don't know anything about her and she probably doesn't know anything about me either and that's okay yeah I might have I might know her songs I might have heard one of her songs I don't know I'm really not sure anyway I'm distracted so myspace have clearly gone back to their original roots of
music that's what that's what they were about it's supposed to be a place for bands to go on and communicate with each other and you know it was uh it was kind of hijacked by just people because it was a good way of communicating it was uh and let's face it if you've got a website and instead of having a few thousand people joining and you know with bands and that and joining and sharing their music and suddenly you've got millions of people probably daily joining who you can advertise to you're not going to turn
it down are you even if it messes with the whole point of the website and I think when I joined myspace I feared in a little bit because I was creative I was creating content videos and audios and I uploaded my hypnosis videos and mp3s to myspace so people could stream the videos and the mp3s or download them I think they streamed yeah but you know but then the fans joined as well so people that were on there to listen and watch videos joined and then it'd be you know obviously facebook came along and myspace
I kind of thought it pretty much disappeared but from the looks of it it's very much alive and going so good good but from the looks of it it's a much smaller uh thing um to what it was so you got videos I'm just seeing if it tells you how many people have viewed a video how many people have watched this video gives you an idea does it say no it doesn't give any stats that's all right I thought I'd just give an idea people how many people are there sign in with facebook that's that's
ironic isn't it because you're signing with facebook blimey the the website that pretty much this is weird uh Avicii's on here um you can connect connect with people Avicii's not even around anymore so I'm just wondering all this stuff's on there but is anybody how old is the content that's what I'm wondering I don't know I don't know so we got I have an Alexis Cross I know I want to I want to copy something and see whether it's online to see how long ago it is Alexis Cross getting now to 2019 okay so wow
2015 even so there's stuff on myspace that's quite um yeah from the looks of it that was from 2015 that video blimey that's quite a long time ago it seems that myspace isn't really being used so much it's a shame because I still prefer it over facebook I do genuinely uh not now but you know during the time myspace was way better than facebook you know the idea it could videos mp3s just exactly what I needed then an audience an instant audience I had I think I had um about 180,000 followers something like that on
there when I was on myspace and then you know myspace kind of came to an end I know it's still there but it did pretty much at one point they weren't you just couldn't do anything they were deleting stuff they were deleting content off of my page so yeah it's a shame there's like podcast I had I've talked about this before I had a podcast and I remember January 2018 I remember showing my classmates at college and I'd had over 100,000 downloads you know in a year during the last year on that podcast and I
was just so you know so excited like 100,000 downloads like something like that and it's like wow and then they started deleting stuff and it was a free myfreepodcast.com I think it was called and instead of charging people so well we we need to make money they didn't even offer that option they clearly ran out of money and they just bailed and they deleted everything they deleted loads of recordings I lost probably half of my recordings and they weren't backed up so that wasn't good that's my fault anyway but it's still you know um instead of asked for money 20 quid a month at that point even if I've asked you know I just said yeah there you go because it was such a
good podcast the audience was huge and it was I'd say the best podcast on the internet at the time but I think pretty much at that point the bubble burst the original bubble of podcast and just popped and we had to wait another decade before podcast and became uh people became interested again in podcasts maybe it was the time it took to stream the streaming wasn't so quick maybe because of mobile phones making everything easier I don't know I'm not sure probably maybe a mixture of all those things not having to use a laptop to
listen to a podcast because I'm guessing a lot of people that listen to podcasts obviously not ones like this where you have to close you know only listen when you can safely close your eyes would maybe listening you know on the way to work or during lunch times when they're you know whatever but not necessarily at their desk with the laptop or computer so I should before I go I need to do the next two of my gratitudes so my listeners is number one which managed to talk for an hour about that and number two
would be I'm feeling grateful towards the dentists for seeing me I'm feeling grateful that they agreed to see me so that that's good and number three that's the weird one I'm feeling grateful for the birds in the trees I haven't heard them for a while you know so I was talking about that yesterday I think or recently and I heard the birds singing and I'm hearing them and it's eight it's 13 past six it's getting dark it's not dark yet but it's getting that way you know it's getting darker and even though the day's it's
just nice it's nice to hear it's nice to hear right so I'll put down the birds singing it's the birds singing that I like I can't spell singing s-i-n-g-i-n-g-i-n-g-n-g okay so thank you for listening um oops just dropped the pen on my lap and I will very likely return tomorrow but it depends if I've had a tooth removed I might not I might not be in the right mood to be talking I might not be able to really talk uh so I will see you the other end the other side of the uh the dentist
take care remember to be kind to yourself remember to be gentle with yourself because you deserve to be happy lots of love bye
