Well, hello and welcome to Jason. Jason Newland dot com. My name's Jason Newland.

Oh, isn't that nice? Well, I'll take these headphones off. Put them over there. Yeah, hello then.

Hello. So, how are you doing? Are you alright? Is life everything you ever hoped it would be? Oh, and the genie. So, it's been a couple of days since I made a recording.

Oh, a couple of days, a couple of days. Um, it's Sunday, the 21st of November, 2021. Dammit, it's really bad, now whenever I fart I burp, I've got no one to blame it on.

I need to get myself a new pet, maybe a cat. Nice to get some pussy. So, yeah, I don't know, I thought about getting a house cat, you know, one that you never leave out, never let it go outside.

On some levels, it seems a little bit cruel, but on other levels, it's just cats do not know how to cross the road. It's, they turn into, I've seen a lot of old people cross the road, my nan included, and she'd just run. She'd just run across the road.

I was like, no, Green Cross Code, look both ways, I mean, how can that not be embedded in your brain by now? But cats, can't teach cats to cross the road. And I'll be honest with you, I'm not trying to be all down or anything within two minutes of the recording, but I don't want to lose another, another, another one, you know, I don't want to lose another one. I lost one, I can't imagine, but you never had a cat before, I'm not talking about losing a cat.

But just, just the idea of, I'd feel kind of responsible if I, if I let the cat out there. And, you know, it got runned over, just. But, if I got a cat here, I'd kind of be stuck here as well, wouldn't I? I wouldn't ever be able to really leave it.

Him or her. I'd never be able to go out, go away, I mean, you know, if I want to go travelling or just go on holiday, unless I get a cat sitter. Yeah, I don't know.

So really, really and truly extremely warm. What do I normally talk about? I feel a little bit, a little bit disconnected from my podcasting. That's nice, lovely sound.

A little bit disconnected from my podcast in the last few weeks. So I had that break, which was kind of forced on me because of the illness, because I was ill for quite, about three weeks. About a month nearly, really, because I had the back pain, which made me feel ill.

And then I was, I had a, who knows what it was, but I was very, very poorly. And then I had the residual cough that lasted for another week or two. Still got a bit of that cough, but it's much less now than it was.

So I feel a little bit disconnected from podcasting. I mean, I have been uploading re-edited versions of older podcast episodes with music in the background, ones that didn't have music before. So that's kind of, at least I sort of continue to do something.

But, and for a lot of people, that's new stuff because you can't get hold of them. Unless you go to my website, you can't, you're not going to be able to get hold of the older recordings because a lot of my podcasts have got so many episodes. And if you, once you go over 250, most podcast apps where you listen to your podcasts wouldn't have them listed because they're too far away.

Although, as I said, they are on my website. All of the old stuff is on my website. And the last time I did a let me boy to sleep is only a couple of days ago, 18th of November.

So that would be Thursday, 18th, 19th, 20th, 21th Sunday. Yes, it's only three days ago. And then the one before that was.

Blimey, 15th. So it's three days before. And the one before that was the 10th.

So I have tried to keep them going. It's just and then one before that, the 9th and 7th. Yes, to be fair, I don't think people notice.

Apart from those that listen every day. I don't think a lot of people would probably even notice just. You know, I come on and I haven't done anything.

I haven't recorded anything for a few days. Really? We didn't notice. Had no idea.

OK. Good that I've been missed. I'm making the microphone wobble.

Wobble. Like a blamage. Blamage.

So. I had a roast dinner earlier. That was nice.

Gave me a feeling. A certain feeling of. Contentedness.

In my tummy, just felt like, oh. I've eaten something. Nutritional.

Vegetables. Vegetables, if you pronounce it that way. You're wrong, but it's vegetables.

Vegetables. Tortoise. Tortoise.

No, it's a tortoise. Tortoise. Vegetables.

Film. I want to go and watch a film. No, it's film.

God, how many people have been annoyed now. Yeah, I say film. I say vegetables.

I don't care really. I'm just messing about. Just mucking about, you know.

That's all. Now to it. I don't mean anything I say.

Ever. So hello to everybody. That listens to me.

Hello. Hello and hello. All three of you.

I do appreciate. You and you and you. And you and you.

And you. OK, let's read some messages. I've got from.

YouTube. Oh, it's the same. Ask the same person.

OK, here we go. Let's have a look. This is.

Oh, that's weird. I think sometimes he puts things in the. He.

Deletes them. This is. A certain person.

A certain person. Called your favorite uncle. Hubbard Hubert.

So this is the most recent. Four days ago. All right, so he actually posted quite a few.

But I can only read one. I have found a perfect. No, blimey.

That's not. This is. OK, this.

This is from more Facebook scammers. This is my last podcast. This is him replying.

Stinky liar. You don't even want comments from people. Who do very intensely.

Listen to your podcasts. OK. And there's no one.

Stop being so narcissistic. This is from your favorite uncle. Hubert.

Sebastian. OK, it says I've not read it yet. So I'll stop if it's rude.

Stop being so. Narcissistic. This is my original.

Elderly YouTube channel. From 2006. Which had certain.

Rebrandings and. Renamings for arousal. And stimulus of others.

He used to be called. The keyboard. Knob or something.

Kinky keyboard. Trend trend. Trending or something like that.

I can't remember. But then he changed it. That was back in 2000.

I think 2009 or 2010. When we discovered each other. Has.

Fook. OK. All to do with your.

Partic. You particularly. You've been arrested more often.

That this channel got banned. I have not been arrested ever. And even if I've never been caught.

In even if I was Japanese. What? I'd still outdo you by several inches. What are you talking about? Uncle Hubert.

You know how. What and where. But thank you for finally starting.

To see the light and included me. In your snore fest. It is the right thing.

To do. You could make this a fixed. A fixed segment.

You know. The kind comments by uncle. Uncle Hubert I've got.

And isn't that just what I've just done. Isn't it by accident. I do apologize.

Oh dear. Well. I've now got 563 subscribers.

Do me a favor please. Those that are listening. Even if you don't watch YouTube.

Even if you've never been on YouTube. Or it arouses you in ways. That you're not happy with.

Just do me a favor. Can you just search my YouTube channel out. It's just my name.

There's a picture of me in a. Orange t-shirt with my funny face. And you'll see it's me. Because it's got.

Videos that Let Me Bore You To Sleep. But it's got you know. It's just got things on there.

You'll see it's me. Can you please subscribe. Please please please please.

To a thousand. I'd really appreciate it. Even if you never visit again.

Just for the sake of it. Just please take. 10 seconds out of your day.

To subscribe to my YouTube channel. I've never. I don't normally ask people to do that.

But. I'm at 563. I've had the YouTube channel for about.

Three years now. I've not promoted it. I've not done anything to try and get an audience.

And do the odd new one. I get hardly any views. Like 1000 views a month.

Pretty much. 273 hours. Of people watching my videos.

A month. Which is pretty good really. I suppose considering.

The small amount of subscribers I've got. But you know. I've got a very very tiny amount of people.

Watch my videos on YouTube. At the moment. If you can help me.

Get the videos up to. The subscribers up to 1000. It only needs.

437 people. Now I know thousands and thousands of people. Are going to be listening to this recording.

Across my different podcasts. So. If you can please.

Just need 443 of you. I know some might think. Well.

That's it. Other people do it. Can you do it anyway.

Please. I beg you. I'm not asking for any money.

I'm just asking you. Just to subscribe to my channel. My YouTube channel.

And you can find me just by. Going to YouTube. Let me see if it works.

YouTube. If you click on YouTube. And just put in my name.

John Newland. Okay. Just click on that.

It comes up. Well on my computer. It comes up straight away.

At the top. Now. It might not on yours.

It depends. Because sometimes with laptops. They remember.

Don't they remember what you've. Or you know with Google. It might remember I've already.

Got 60 subscribers. 63. 1977 videos.

And then a little bit about me. My name is Jason Newland. I have been making hypnosis.

Videos in MP3. Since 2006. That's that's my little.

Bit about me. And there's a picture of my. Silly little fat.

Well it's a big fat face really. With glasses and a. Mixture of grey. It used to be with my ginger.

Because I used to have a ginger beard. But all the ginger hairs went grey first. And.

I look like someone that you wouldn't. Really want anywhere near you. You want them anywhere near you.

It's like what is that. Is that is that a pic. Is that a prison photograph.

That's that. That's me anyway. By the way I'm single.

If any. If anyone's interested. I'm available baby.

So that's. That's my silly picture. If you click on there.

And just. Where do you subscribe. Hmm.

OK it's a bit different. What I'll do if can I open. Can I open.

New in. In incognito window. I can't do that.

YouTube. That means it shouldn't. No I don't want to sign in.

I was making me sign in. I agree. I agree to whatever they said.

OK. If I just put in my name. Oh I come up the top of that one as well.

Basically you don't even need to go onto the page. Just said subscribe. The big red.

Button with white letters subscribe. And you just click on that. And that's it.

You have to be signed in though to YouTube to do it. So from the looks of this. I've done it under incognito.

So there's no memory of me and stuff. I do come at the top. Of the Jason Newland.

And there are other Jason Newlands on there. If you put hypnosis. You probably have to search about a year to find me.

Even though I'm technically. That's what I'm supposed to be. A hypnotist.

And I will prove that I am. I don't know why I've got this little crazy bit of energy. Probably because I've eaten decent food for the first time in ages.

And it's. But we need to eat. We need to eat don't we.

I've been trying to lose a bit of weight if I'm honest. I've been trying to. I've been drinking the.

What do they call it Weight Watchers. Drinks those slim fast drinks. As he shakes.

They're really lovely. But I'm trying to have one of those instead of eating. One meal.

I end up eating biscuits with it. If I get hungry. So but I'm still doing my weights every hour or two.

Still doing that. I think I'm feeling. I can feel it in my arms.

I can feel it in my shoulders. And I can feel it in my back and my chest. Even my neck a little bit.

My arm. Even my forearms. My wrists.

I can kind of feel something. I feel. A little bit.

Maybe stronger. Maybe a little bit. I've been doing it for.

About three weeks or. Three weeks now I think. But.

And the reason I've been doing the weights. Is. Solely because of my back.

To. Strengthen my back. Because of the amount of pain I had.

Was just unbearable. The thing is. I can still have.

As my back still feels. If I don't do the weights for. A few hours I can feel my back starting to kind of.

Feel a little bit tender. It's weird. I don't know.

Yeah. But. I'm going to continue with the weights.

Yeah. It's something that I kind of need to do. I can't go back.

To. Back to the. I can't go back to my back.

How my back was. It was. Anyone with chronic pain likes.

Okay. It's hard to really. You know I've got.

A lot of. I don't know what the right word is. Maybe compassion is the right word.

But it doesn't feel right. Talking about it myself. You know people say I'm very compassionate.

Like about this. It doesn't feel right for me to say. Nice things about myself probably.

But it doesn't feel right to use words like. Compassionate. But.

I have. A big. Interest.

In helping people with chronic pain. Have done for a long many many years. And.

I'm going to be increasing. My. I'm going to be doing a lot more pain relief work.

Over the years. Because. It's.

It felt like it was my calling. If I'm honest. Back in 2006.

I was seeing people in person. And I wish I kind of was now. I wish.

There was a feeling I got. From that. Pain relief.

Not any. I mean people ask me to do all kinds of things. It's like once they saw.

That I did that. And they'd recommend me to their friends. I remember I went around a lady's house.

Because she had back pain. And I relaxed her completely. And her back was.

Just. Like a zero pain. Completely.

For that period. It didn't stay like that. But she had a real relief.

A release. And some. Some time.

Feeling relaxed. Which she hadn't had for a long time. And then.

She said. My daughter she's got a phobia of. Something.

I think it was spiders or something like that. So I went next door. Our door was next door.

I said okay we'll do something. And. Helped her with that.

So that kind of stuff happened. And then. People with.

Driving lessons. Anxiety. Wanted help and.

I did that but. I don't know. Although my heart is in whatever.

I'm doing at the time. Outside of actually doing it. I've got zero interest in.

Really sort of. Doing that one on one with people. The pain relief was what I was.

Interested in doing. And. Most of the pain relief.

A lot well a lot of the pain relief was. Just a relaxation session. And then I could do other little.

There's other techniques and things. I could do as well. And.

So that's where the kind of connection. The triangle of. Pain relief.

Was where I started. And then relaxation. Is where I kind of.

Was doing at the same time. With the group sessions. In the rehab centers.

The drug rehab and the. Alcohol charity. So I was doing these.

Relaxation group sessions. So I started. I recorded those and then.

Posted them online. Hmm. So that was the first two of the triangle.

And then the third one was people. Started asking me. Can you do stuff for sleep.

I fall asleep when you do the relaxation. Sessions but. Maybe they're not long enough.

I quite like a longer one or maybe one. That focuses on. Falling asleep.

Or some people said you bought. Your voice is so boring. I just fall asleep whenever you.

Talk which is lovely. Unless you're driving of course. I only listen if you can only say.

If you say if you close your eyes. Did I say that. I said it thousands of times.

But I might have forgotten today. Sorry. The one time.

So I. That's where the kind of triangle of. Sleep hypnosis. Relaxation and pain relief.

Kind of came in. And. The pain relief.

Recordings. Funny enough. Became the least favorite.

The sleep ones were the most favorite. Followed by the relaxation. Ones and then.

Pain relief ones were. At times they were popular. Different ones but.

Less popular than the others. And. I guess I started to try.

You know. Try to cater to what people wanted. And based that.

On the results. I was getting on YouTube and. On the podcasts.

And what people were listening to. Mostly or watching. Mostly on my.

Various channels. But. I kind of miss.

I just wonder where would I be now. If I'd have. Continued I mean.

The reason I stopped the pain relief. Live one on one sessions. Is because.

I actually got a bit ill. And then. I was so busy with everything else.

I just didn't have. Really the time. For the one on ones.

Because I was doing the voluntary stuff. At the. Alcohol places.

Drug places. And then I was doing my website. And I was focusing on that.

Making recordings and videos at home. And you know everything. And then I went to university.

Moved. I tried to. I mean to be fair.

I was trying to keep everything going. As much as possible. I had to move.

And I moved to a different town. And everything that was in that town. Just went.

My kind of. Everything the whole thing. Because.

I just couldn't. Travel in. I wanted to focus on the university course.

And. I was prepared. I was going to cut down on the other stuff.

But at least do maybe. A couple of sessions a week. But.

With the travel and all that stuff. I just didn't. I just had to give it all up.

Which is a shame. But that's the way it is. I just wonder where I'd be now.

If I'd have just kept at it. And. Not moved.

It's just weird isn't it. It would be a whole. New life.

A completely different life. If I'd have stayed there. I mean if I'd have stayed there.

Would I. If I'd. Where would I. Where would I be now. Would I still be living in a little room somewhere.

Would I still be. Would I be single. I'd be married even.

I could be married now. If I'd have stayed there. If I'd.

Carried on with the one on one record. You know one on one. Sessions with people.

And. How would that have. Continued.

Imagine all that experience I'd have. Now. And I know.

I do all this like. You know recordings and that but. It's very different when you do it with someone.

In person. You know of course I had the. The years and years of experience.

As a counselor. When I was. Once I was qualified.

I was what between two thousand. Nine and two thousand. Thirteen.

Something like that. And then that was done. So it's been what eight years.

Since I did that. I've been living here. Nearly seven years.

Well not nearly. It's. Over six and a half years.

Be seven years in. April. Yeah.

Yeah. Twenty twenty two. So who knows.

Who knows what would have. Where I'd be. What would happen if I hadn't done the degree course.

Because. I. Was looking into it. But not necessarily.

Going to apply for it. Until my job. While I was working.

The job that I was working. Oh. The way you were working you mean.

Yeah. That's what I mean. I don't know why I said it.

In two different varieties. Job and work. But where I was going every day.

I was part time. And I enjoyed being part time. Because it allowed me.

To do all the other stuff. That I like doing. Like.

Work you know doing the voluntary work. And doing group sessions. As you know.

It just gave me a lot more time. To do that and I spent all my time. On this.

Stuff. And then one day they came in to me. I think this was.

So from September. I think September until. Probably.

May or June. Maybe May. May or June time.

The next year 2007. They said. Yeah.

You need to either go. Full time again or leave. That was.

That was the two options I had. Now. I think it's actually illegal.

To have done that to me. To have. Because.

I don't think companies can force you. To increase your hours. Because.

I don't know. But force you to kind of have to go. Full time or leave.

I don't know if. If that's allowed in the UK. By law.

But. I just. First of all I said yeah.

Okay I'll go full time. Because I like my job. I actually liked it.

The only. Well not the only job I've liked. But it's the one.

And. This wasn't sales anymore. This was me.

Listening to phone calls and. Doing compliance. Making sure that everyone did the job properly.

I was good at that. I'm good at listening. I'm good at you know focusing like that.

And I had a nice little team I worked with. And it was good. And in even part time I was earning just enough.

You know to get by. I had. Quite low rent.

And. You know I was getting by. I didn't have any money to do anything really.

But I was fine. I didn't need it. Long as I had enough for food.

And could do what I did. You know helping people and stuff. I was.

It was among the happiest time of my life really. Work wise. And anyway.

They forced me to go full time. Or leave. And then I was looking.

Because I'd been looking at this university course. And I thought. Hmm.

And I thought no. I'm going no. I said no I'll leave.

I gave a month's notice. And I left. And.

During that month. I don't think I've ever given a month's notice before. And stayed in the actual place.

But I did. I stayed there for a month. And I remember I was in my last week.

And the boss. Coming over and having a go about something. And saying this needs to be done.Me thinking to myself. But why are you telling me. Why are you telling me about that.

What do you expect me to do. Like I'm going to care. And I realised.

If you employ someone. If you can financially do it. If they're given a month's notice.

Tell them to leave now. Tell them to leave. If you can at all possibly do it.

Say bye. And pay them at the end of the month. For.

Still pay them you know for that month ahead. Whatever. But just don't have them in there.

Because they can ruin your business. Absolutely ruin. Just by changing passwords.

And make just a few little errors. Can just cause so much problems. Of course you may need them there.

To train the next person up. But is that always a good idea. To get trained up by someone.

That doesn't want to work there anymore. Knows they're leaving. I don't know.

So yeah. They probably should have. I didn't do anything bad.

But they should have left. They probably should have sacked me. Or should have got me to leave.

I'll be honest. I did very little. I did the job.

But I did. I can't say I gave it my 100%. If I'm honest.

Because. The first. The first thing is.

They were making people redundant. Left right and center. During that last month.

Yeah. Maybe leading up to that. A whole department got made redundant.

Making other people redundant. And I thought. My part of my job was to.

Judge. Listen to the calls. And if people didn't do the job properly.

Didn't ask the right questions. And. And they didn't pass.

The right amount of. You didn't get the right score. They'd actually lose money off their bonus.

I don't think anyone lost any money off their bonus. In that last month of me being there. I really I was not prepared.

To take people's any. Normally I didn't care. You know I didn't.

I had. I was friends with people. You know these are people that I had worked with.

On the sales floor. Who I was friends with. And I was listening to their calls.

And they were losing money. And I say to them. Just do the job properly then.

That's all I can say is do it properly. I don't want to take. Do it properly.

Don't lie to the customer. Don't. Don't give them car insurance.

When they got a van. You know it's. Give them van insurance.

You know do the job properly. Don't don't lie to them. It's just little things like that.

But. I didn't like it. But no one ever.

Only one person ever kind of really. Sometimes they'd get angry. They'd come down said.

We listen to that. Because they said that's wrong. We didn't.

And then my colleague or my boss. Relisten to it. And it'd be correct.

I never got it wrong. Not when it came to stuff like that. I'd always.

Relisten to it. And sometimes I get my colleague. Pammy.

Also to relisten to that one bit. So she could just check it. If I knew.

Because I always knew what people were going to be losing. If someone had already got. Because we had a score sheet.

Someone had already failed two. Call assessments. In that month.

And they failed the next one. Then they were going to lose like maybe 25 percent. Of their bonus.

Which could be hundreds of pounds. Which is what would be hundreds. But which I wasn't.

Willing to take on. My shoulders you know. Just double check.

Maybe triple check. Sometimes quadruple check. Seriously.

Because these are friends of mine. I didn't know like I want to make sure. That this is correct.

Because I you know. And sometimes the team leaders. Had come down.

It was weird. Because one team leader right. It was not again one of my friends.

He wasn't a team leader. When I was there. When I was upstairs in the sales floor.

But he became a team leader. And he. Part of his thing.

Is he wanted to impress. I think the. The management.

By. His. For some reason.

You know one of the big things was. We need to get compliance. We need to get people.

Doing the job properly. It was all. They only had good sellers working there.

I was average. When I worked there. And I wasn't an average seller.

I was a really good seller. But I was kind of just. Maybe above average at times.

But I was never the top. Not in that place. I was at the previous place.

Or one of the top. What's that noise. But the.

This team leader. Every team leader. He came to meetings with me.

And with the other team. Of the compliance. And he was going through the questions.

And he was trying to make it harder. For the sales floor. His idea.

Of getting a higher score. For some reason. Was to make it harder for them.

My idea was to make it easier for them. You get a higher score. If you make it easier.

Obviously. There were these little. There were so many little trip wires.

That were tripping people up. Because they were trying to focus on selling. Not on asking a question.

In a particular format. And some of the questions. Had to be asked.

In a specific way. However ridiculous that sounds. So for example.

Have you. Had any. Motoring convictions.

In the last five years. Have you had any. Criminal convictions.

In the last five years. Have you had any accidents. In the last five years.

Now some people would ask. Have you had any accidents motor convictions. Or criminal convictions.

In the last five years. Or sometimes people would ask. Have you had any.

Motoring convictions. Have you had any accidents. Fault or non-fault.

In the last five years. I think they change that question. Have you had any accidents.

In the last five years. And then. Was that accident.

If it was a fault. Was that accident fault or non-fault. Some people just say.

Have you had any accidents fault or non-fault. In the last five years. Because that was the original question.

And they get marked down for it. So there was always changing the goal posts. And changing the script.

It was silly. I know it's to protect the customers. Which is a good thing.

Because it was like. It was like an old Western days. You know previous to that.

Where call centers could pretty much. Do and say whatever they wanted. Without any comeback.

Now with the. All the laws and all the different. Compliance things and.

Data protection. All that stuff. Is there to protect.

The customer which is a brilliant. Brilliant brilliant thing. Also to protect the company as well.

This is boring. This is really boring. But I'm enjoying talking about it.

Is. It just makes it more complicated. For.

The customer and for the worker. In a call center. Because all these scripts.

They have to read out. First of all the customers not listening. Even if you read it to them.

They're not listening. Well you have to read it to them. If you send it to them.

They're not going to read it. Like 99.9.9 percent. Some will.

There are some people who will read it. But most people won't. And they know that.

That's why they do it. That's what they do in small print. And they also know that the customers.

Not going to listen to the script. That's being read out. They also know that the compliance.

Things on the internet. You know data protection. And when a website.

You go to a website. Your information may be used. I don't even read it.

I just click yep. Is that okay? Yep. Because you want to get to the website.

It could be saying. You're now. If you continue with this website.

Yeah fine. You're going to have to. Give up all your children for adoption.

Yeah that's fine. Just let me get onto the website please. I need to see that.

Tupperware. Or whatever it is you're looking for. So.

He made it. The team leader made it more complicated. Harder for his own staff.

To get the hundred. To get like a pass mark. Which was I think.

60% I think. Pass mark. 65% something like that.

And he just got it harder and harder. And he'd come down and say. Oh Bobby upstairs.

Says that. He doesn't like this. He's going to lose 200 pound off his bonus.

With that failure. Fail. And he doesn't believe he said that.

He'd never said that to anyone. Blah blah blah blah blah blah. And.

Sometimes it actually comes say. I've listened to it. And you did it wrong.

I'd listen to it. In fact I'd listen to it. Then I'd get my.

Team leader to listen to it. Always right. I'd always got it right.

And it's just like. I was doing it all day long. And it's not that.

Oh I'm so good at it. If all you do all day long. Five days a week.

Eight hours a day. Or seven and a half hours a day or whatever. Is listen to phone calls.

That people have made. And you've got a tick sheet. Marking off every single question.

Do they have to cover. And the tick sheet. There was a lot of.

A lot of questions they had to ask. In a specific order. But it was all there.

And it was the same for every call. Yeah different. Information.

For the renewals. Then for the customer service. Then for the sales.

So there's three different departments. I used to listen to. The customer service.

Were a little bit easier. Because they basically. It's just did they answer the call correctly.

And did they. You know. Did they do.

Do what they're supposed to do. They always passed. The renewals.

Were really awful. It wasn't because they were bad. It's because they didn't work in sales.

And they didn't ask the questions. In the correct way. They covered everything.

But they didn't ask it. And so they'd lose. And it was really bad.

Because I didn't know them as well. So there was no forgiveness. Not that anyone forgave me upstairs.

Either probably but. I never got any hassle for it. And.

You know. I had no waiting outside for me. You lost me five.

I did. I think someone five hundred pound one month. You lost me five hundred pound.

Well. Now you lost it yourself. I didn't lose that.

Plus we never. I didn't. I never listened to four.

Six of those calls for that person. We split it between the two of us. So you know I was never responsible for.

Every call that they failed. If they wanted to make me responsible for it. And Pammy was just.

You know just as good. Maybe better than what I was there. She wasn't better.

I was better. She'd say she was better. I'd say that I was better.

And then Dan would say that he was better. So we all thought we were better than each other. Not as people just in the job.

You have to have confidence. In life. I'd say we're all equal.

We're all doing it for the same amount of time really. Well. Now I was doing it for less time than them.

But. It was quite a new department. If you know I mean I kind of joined it.

As they were kind of creating it. Because it was being done by team leaders before. And then suddenly they had to do more.

The. They had to open a department for compliance. Because.

Everyone had to be listened to. And have six calls listened to every month. And there was.

I don't know how many people working there. 200 people. Two.

Maybe less. 150 something like that. So quite a few.

Anyway. The renewals department. If you don't know what renewals is.

Basically. It's insurance. Your insurance runs out.

Some companies. Having the small print that they just continue. They'll continue to take the money out of your account.

Monthly. If that's how you paid it. And.

You get charged. Probably get charged more than you did last year. Some people don't even check.

Now if you paid it all in one go. Your insurance might just. Void.

Because. They might send you. They might send you a renewal form.

But if you ignore it. Thinking. Because maybe every year you do normally do it.

In installments. But last year for whatever reason. You paid it all in one go.

Maybe you had the extra cash. And you've forgotten that. You can end up driving around uninsured.

Without realizing it. And. With the renewals.

Like most companies. For whatever reason. If you're with.

Well I know what the reason is. But if you're with them. The longer you're with them.

The more they seem to charge. So a lot of people would phone up. And actually get a fresh quote.

Not saying that they're already with us. So they get a fresh quote. And say yeah.

And. And they just get a quote. And then say.

Okay. Well how much. How come it's £100 cheaper than my present insurance.

And I say well. I don't know. You have to ask your company.

You are my company. They'd say. I'd say what? They'd say yeah I'm with you.

I'd say really? They'd say yeah. You've got renewals £100 more. Why's that? I said it's because we like to rip you off.

And. Then I'd have to say go away. I'll put them through to the renewal department.

And the renewal department would give them a big discount. So if you get. Your renewal form through.

And it's more money than you want to pay. Even if it's not more money than you want to pay. It may be worth making a phone call to the renewal department.

And telling them. That it's too much and you're not willing to pay that much. And just watch how they jump through hoops.

To try and get you a cheaper price. It's well worth it. Well worth doing that.

You might save yourself. You might save yourself. You know £10-£15 a month.

But you know over the year that might be worth it. So with whatever your insurance is. Whether it's house.

Car. Yacht. You know I mean the more expensive the insurance is.

The better you are. Better off you'll be. If you.

Contact the renewal department. And tell them that you're not happy with that price. You got a cheaper price elsewhere.

And. You know you'd like. But also say you know I like the company.

I like you know I like the service so far. But I can't afford you know that's too much money. Because sometimes people have been more willing to help you.

If you're nice. In fact. That's a little secret.

A little secret. If you're wanting to negotiate. And get help from someone in the call centre.

Even though in your mind. And you're correct to think this. Is that the person in the call centre is there to help you.

Regardless of that. They're humans. They're human beings.

And they like. To be spoken nicely to. Gently and kindly.

And I know some people have that attitude. Oh I'm paying for this you just do what I say. Yeah but you're dealing with humans and.

If you are rude to them. On the phone. They'll do the bare minimum to help you.

The bare minimum. Human nature. They'll do what they bare.

They won't go out of their way. You know. They might get you.

So you say. You start shouting. I want a discount.

I'm not paying £700. I've only paid £550 last year. I've got no claims bonus full.

Never had an accident. I've been driving since I was three months old. I want a discount.

You bastard. You smelly old man. You know if you start going like that.

The person. Knowing they're being listened. You know.

The phone calls being recorded. I'm talking about the call centre person. They will do.

Firstly they'll get a bonus. If they get the renewal. You called in.

They get a renewal. They get paid for that renewal. It's like a sale.

So that'll be part of their bonus. OK. And they won't get anything.

From people that renew. Just generally. If they send the phones back.

Or just continue renewing. But anyone that phones in. Or that they phone.

They will get a bonus. For that. In most companies.

I don't know what it's like these days. But they will. They'll do the bare minimum.

To help you. I mean to be fair. If you swear.

You're rude. They'll probably. You can hang up on people now.

In call centres. You would never. Never able to hang up on people.

But if someone's rude. You say. Sorry.

I'm not putting up with this. And you can tell people that. You know.

You're hanging up now. Because of their language. Or whatever.

If they're swearing. Most companies are pretty good like that now. They realise they're dealing.

Even the people that run the call centres. Realise they're dealing with humans. But it goes both ways.

Obviously. But then. If you're nice to the person.

You know. They might go. Well out of their way.

So they might give you. If you're rude. They might give you.

The standard 10% discount. That they're allowed to do themselves. They can just press a button.

I've got your 10% discount. There you go. Goodbye.

Merry Christmas. But their team leader. Who's sitting.

You know. Maybe 100. Foot away from them.

Maybe the other side of the call centre. Could come over. And put a discount code into the system.

Which gives them. 30% discount. The difference between the 10% standard discount.

And a 30% could be quite a lot. Depending on how much it is. I guess.

But the difference with that. Is whether or not the customer. Is being friendly.

Or if the customer is being rude. Now that the. The call centre person.

Still wants that. Bonus. And they'll get a higher bonus.

Especially if it's a percentage. They probably get a higher bonus. On.

Just given the 10% discount. Then they will if they give the 30% discount. So it's better.

They're better off. Because their. Total amount of sales.

Will be much higher. The more discount they give. The less money they make.

The less company. Less money the company makes. The less bonus they probably get.

Depending on the. Bonus. Structure.

Yeah. So that's it. That's a little bit of advice.

Just. If you get a price. That's high.

Call the renewals department. Be nice to them. And just say.

Please. I'm really struggling. This is a lot of money.

And is there any way. You can get me a discount. Or your supervisor.

Maybe. I've heard such great things. About your renewals department.

A friend of mine. They got us a big discount. And it was 92% discount.

I can't believe it. It's almost like it's a lie. So.

In my company. While I was working. Then before.

The renewals department got. Laid off. Redundant.

But when I was listening. To their calls. A few of them.

Just kept failing. Simply because they weren't. Asking the questions.

They weren't even. Asking questions. They were just.

Telling the customer. Which. To me.

Is. Kind of. What I think it should be.

I think they were doing it. How it should be. But.

That was just my opinion. So. Instead of.

Have you got any. Moment convictions. Like a lot can happen.

In the last year. They might have had. Quite a few points.

They might have got. They wouldn't have got. Drunk driving.

Because they would have. Lost their license. But you know.

They might have had. Some speeding points. They might have had.

A couple of accidents. Even. Although that should be.

On the system. But you know. Not everyone.

Has accidents. Goes through the insurance today. But.

If it hasn't gone. Through the insurance. So you don't really need to.

That hasn't gone. Through either insurance. Then there's no point.

Mentioning it. Because. It legally.

Didn't happen. Really. If you.

Bang into someone's car. And you pay. Them.

Or. It's their fault. And they give you.

A hundred quid. To cover the dent. Being scratched out.

Of your. Bonnet or whatever. However much it is.

Then it's not really. Doesn't need to be mentioned. Yeah.

Not really. If it's. It has to be.

Fault or non-fault. And gone through insurance. Really.

To count. Anyway. What they would do.

In the renewal. Is to say. So.

So you've no motor convictions. No accidents. No.

And they just go. Like. You've not.

You've done this. You haven't done this. And they go through it.

It'd take about. Three minutes. Instead of.

Like ten. Fifteen minutes. Sometimes.

With a quote. And they'd just. They'd basically.

Do it wrong. They had to ask. In a certain way.

And they didn't. And. The way they were doing it.

Just. Apart from the motor convictions. Then that was.

You know. Because that is. Important.

Because if they've had. Six points. On their insurance.

Then. On their license. Their insurance.

Will go up. But. You know.

There you go. Also. Maybe my boss.

Talk. Call me into the office. Once.

This is when I was on the sales floor. And I think I was. I thought I was moaning.

I might be moaning. I do like to moan. But probably just about.

The cost of insurance. And. Why the.

Renewal is. So high. And why do we keep getting.

People phoning up. Getting quotes. When they've already.

Got insurance with us. And he came in. And did it.

He did a. A little board display. For me. Just me.

Just me on me own. In his office. And he said.

How much it costs. To get. The customer.

To start with. So advertising. Wages.

All that stuff. So to get someone. A 400 pound policy.

Might cost. Maybe a grand. To get them.

So. They're not making any money. On the first year.

They're not making money. On the second year. He said it might take five years.

Three or four. Maybe four years. Before they even start.

Making money. Making any profit. Off of that customer.

And I remember thinking. Why is he telling me this. Why.

Why am I the only one in here. Why. Surely this would be.

Interesting to everyone. Why is he just telling me this. Just me.

I was a little bit worried. I was. Especially when he undid.

His trousers. No I didn't. He.

He undid his trousers. And he farted in my face. He thought that was hilarious.

And he sent me out. Back onto the floor. To get some sales.

That was his motivation. That was his. That was his way.

Of motivating people. Due to everyone apparently. He's only got about four years.

Left of his sentence. And he should be out. Yeah.

I'm messing about. So please. Please.

If. You're still listening to this. Please go to my.

YouTube channel. Just put in Jason Newland. And search for me.

My YouTube channel comes up. Quick and just. If you can subscribe.

Help me get to the thousand. I would be. Not eternally grateful.

But I would be grateful. For. A few minutes.

Appreciation. So thank you for listening. I'm going to go now.

I'm going to go. And I shall speak to you. Very soon.
