Hello and welcome to let me bore you to sleep. My name is Jason Newland and please only listen to this when you can safely close your eyes. I was going to say only listen to this when you're driving a big concrete truck and it's you know, yeah, no, only when you can safely close your eyes.

Very, very, very important. So, hello everybody. I didn't make a recording yesterday because my coughing was too bad.

Wasn't a good coughing, it was bad coughing. Bad. Oh, by the way, I've got websites.

Oh, I've got, oh, there's something I do have is websites. jasonnewland.com is my main website and I've got a specific one for this, letmeboreyousleep.com. It's not a podcast, but it is. It's basically, it's a website with my podcast embedded into it.

If that makes sense. But you can't listen to that anywhere else. It's just, it's just there.

This is similar to listening on your, I don't know, wherever you listen. Where do you listen? Anyone? You must listen somewhere. But where? I don't know.

But where? Apple podcasts, maybe? Maybe. Or, well, according to yesterday's figures, 26,000. I'd say it's funny, earlier on, right? I've got an itchy bum.

And now I've got a smelly finger. No, shush, stop, stop, stop. And I, I, I've had this cough.

Right? And I thought, I'm gonna make a recording. Oh, and I know what I'll do. I will have a drink of water.

And maybe that will kind of, you know, clear my throat and clear the tubes as it were, make it a little bit easier to speak. Well, trust me to breathe in at the same time as drinking. So as I say, it went down the wrong hole.

So here's I'm coughing and choking. Like the opposite, the exact opposite to what I wanted to happen. You couldn't get more opposite.

I guess it's, you know, you get what you focus on. I was focused on, on coughing. And that's what I got.

I coughed. Yeah. How amazing was that? Anyway, anyway, yesterday, let's have a look.

Yesterday's statistics. You know, only as far as, you know, where are people listening? Apple Podcasts, 17,486 people listened to me on Apple Podcasts. Yesterday.

556 people. Wow, it's such a huge drop. It's ridiculous.

Honestly, it's silly. Absolutely. How can this be true? How can this be right? So this is my statistics.

Yeah. It doesn't even make sense. See, yesterday I got 28,474 downloads.

Today I've had 19,742 so far. But yesterday, yesterday, the 8th of November. 28,474.

Okay. Okay. Okay.

Okay. Sources. Oh, I see what's happening.

So the 8th. Right, here we go. It's still absolutely ridiculous.

According to the stats. Right, you're ready for this. Apple Podcasts, 26,104.

92%. Castbox Next, 408 downloads. Spotify, 380.

Podcast Addict, 299. Stitcher, 292. Overcast, 175.

iHeart Radio, 102. Henrik, I beg Henrik. Generic Angled App, 101.

TuneIn Radio, 70. Podbean, 60. Play.fm, 55.

Amazon Music, 51. iTunes, 42. Audible, 39.

Spreaker, 37. That's why I host it. I don't even get many.

Even though I host on speaker, I don't get many. Pocketcast, 35. Luminary, 30.

Podcast Republic, 28. Google Podcasts, which is one that I really want to be on. 23 downloads on Google Podcasts.

VLC, whatever that is. 21. I'm not sure what VLC is.

How ridiculous is that? I mean, I'm not complaining. I mean, I'm so thankful for the Apple Podcasts. Imagine if I lost Apple Podcasts, I'd have no podcasts.

I'd have to stop doing it. There'd be no point doing it. Without Apple Podcasts, I'd have, well, how much was it all together? 28,474.

So I'd have about 2,200, 2,300 and 60. It's 2,360 downloads without Apple Podcasts. That's just ridiculous.

Okay, so well, that's nearly 3,000 a year, 3,000 a day. 3,000 a day is a million a year. So like, okay, so technically it's not that bad.

A million downloads a year without Apple Podcasts. Without Apple Podcasts, it's 3,000 a day, a million a year. I don't know.

Let's work this out. What did I say? 2,400. Let's say 2,400 times by 876,000 downloads a year.

Now, you know, a couple of years ago, I'd have been really pleased with that, I suppose. But not so much now. Not so much now.

I don't understand that. Oh, lovely. Last month, okay.

Give you an idea. October. 612,621 Apple Podcasts downloads.

11,927 Spotify, Castbox was 8,185. So technically, you could say, well, actually, you are getting some from others. So over the month, over last month, 5% is Spotify, instead of the 1% I got yesterday.

Yesterday wasn't a good example of a normal day, I suppose. Now 5% over the year. So April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November.

Since April, 5%. Okay, so since April, if you hear me say, excuse me, you wonder why. It's because I just coughed.

But I've already edited out the cough. Just so you know. Since April, so 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 months and eight days, I've had 2,298,699 downloads.

Of them, 1.9 million was from Apple Podcasts. So 1,915,737 Apple Podcasts, Spotify 116,448. Castbox 48,555.

Stitcher 39,473. I don't know what my point was really. There might have been a point, I don't know what it was.

Last month, 2% was Spotify. So compared to 612,000, I had 11,000 Spotify. Hmm, such lovely sounds I'm making.

So I'd like to say I'd like to thank Apple Podcasts. Thank you, Apple Podcasts, because without you, I wouldn't have. Well, well, if we go back to that period, I said 2.2, 2,298,000 sources.

So 1.9 is Apple Podcasts. So 1.9, 9, 1,023 to 200, 300. See about 300,000.

I think I'll move on from that. I'm disappointed in myself. And I'm just interested in Spotify stats.

How do I get Spotify stats? How do I do it? How anyone? I wonder how I've forgotten how to log in. Top Tracks. Top Tracks.

Okay. Ah, this is telling me what I've listened to. Isn't interesting.

Tracy Chapman. Wham, he's 17. Nick Kershaw.

Bob Dylan. Phil Collins. Wow.

So this is not what I was after at all. What I want to know is, ah, top artists. Tracy Chapman.

Oh, this is not embarrassing, but like, oh, I don't really want people to see what I'm listening to. Abba, George Michael, Gabrielle, Nick Kershaw, Men at Work, Stevie Wonder, The Cranberries, Whitney Houston, Neo, Hollywood Beyond, Madness, Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, Wham, Michael Jackson, E17, Bob Dylan, Madonna, Terrence Shandabi, Tracy Chapman. That wasn't what I was after.

I'm after podcast. Podcast. Stats.

Right. So how do I your dashboard? How do I go to my dashboard? Oh, that's weird. I am coming up.

Um, all right. Catalog. Hmm.

So, okay. I've only got one podcast is coming up. Deep Sleep Whisper Hypnosis.

This is for Spotify. Okay. Spot podcasters.spotify.com. Apparently, if you've got a podcast, you can find out what your stats are.

Well, I've had 44,917 streams of all from all time, however long that is. 21,486 listeners. Okay.

473 streams in the last 30 days. 140 listeners last month. 548 streams, 150 listeners.

Wow. Hmm. Let me see if there's any others.

Hmm. Okay. Nothing coming up there.

Anything else for me? No, that's it. That doesn't seem right. I've got a lot of podcasts with, with, um, add or claim your podcasts.

Excuse me. What's the link to your RSS pod? Your link to your podcast RSS feed? Link to RSS feed. Okay.

Let's find some. So let's do the, let me bore you to sleep. Link to the RSS feed.

Copy. Your podcast might already be on Spotify. Hit next to check.

I know it is. I know it's on Spotify. Hit next to claim it.

Ah, this is good. I can do this while I'm on the phone. Well, I'm on the phone.

I'm not on the phone. I won't talking to you. So what I'm doing there, which is very boring for you to hear, but is I am adding my information.

Why have not done this before? Wow. You know what? This might actually help me get some more views. You never know.

Relaxation, self-help, relaxation, mental health, Hinduism. No. Gardening.

I mean, let's have a look at the stats. A hell of a lot more for this one. Wow.

Interestingly enough, I've got more listeners on deep sleep whisper over all time, but I've got more streams on the let me bore you to sleep. 83,155, but 12,609 listeners. But I would last 90 days.

I've got a lot more. Let me bore you to sleep. 7,572 streams.

1,156 listeners. Ah, isn't that interesting? So what I'm going to do now is, is I'm going to, I'm going to add another one. How do I add a thing? Home.

Get this code. No, that's not right. Add or claim your podcast.

I'm going to do it to another one. I'll tell you why. Because I didn't realize, did not know that.

And Spotify were out, you know, I don't know. I just, this is kind of new to me. Right? I am.

Send code. So I'm taking control of my destiny whilst speaking to you. Isn't this exciting? Nope.

No, it's not sending it now. Come on. Send it.

Stop teasing me. Resend code. That's no good.

That's no good at all. I'll tell you why. Because it's got my, it's got speakers being my email address.

Why though? The other one didn't. The other one sent me an email. It was fine.

It was easy. It was groovy. Why is it being awkward now? Why is it being awkward? No, it's not working.

Unless I change that. Oh, nevermind. So I can't do anything there.

It's annoying. It's a bit more annoying than I thought it would be. Why is it? I mean, it's basic information.

And I've got my own email in there. So why is it put down? I know. I know what? I know.

I know what's happened. I know what's happened. It's put it in.

And it shouldn't be. It should be my email address. Damn it.

If only you could see what I'm doing there. You'd be so excited. Honestly, it's very exciting.

And that's changed it in the actual podcast thing. It just shows you my email address needs to be in there.Me.

Right. Next. Next.

No. No. No.

My email address. Get started. That's not what I want.

407. Next. Nope.

Come on. 407. Come on.

Yeah. If is this your podcast? If not, you can still submit. If not, okay.

It's come up now.Me. So I have to change every single podcast.

Anyway, I should tell you what I've been up to. Sorry about that. It's been very, it's been very boring for you to listen to that.

But this is me making changes that I need to do. I've got an appointment with the doctor about my cough. And I had the rat, the rat, the poison, not poison.

Let's get me words properly. I had the the mouse sealant thing. sealer, which I got from Amazon.

It's a reticle thing. Basically, it's this paste, like cement, kind of, and you put it in the gaps, so that the mice can't get through. So I caught another one today.

And I'm hoping it's all based near the boiler. And there's all these pipes is massive gap. So sealed up put newspaper down there, then I sealed the rest with this stuff.

I'm hoping it will do the trick. I really, really, really hope so. Really, really do.

Really, really do. I do. I just I've had enough of it.

I don't want these little things running around. I mean, you know, they're beautiful and stuff. Tiny little things just very cute.

Yeah. Right. So the next one is hypnosis for sleeping deeply.

Again, more stats on this one. 628 streams last seven days. 383 listeners, all time.

Wow. Huge compared to the others. 135,946 streams, 76,319 listeners.

For the first time, I'm getting an idea of the amount of listeners I've got. Because it's really complicated to find out. Very difficult.

So who's next on my list? Let's go for the most popular one of all of them. Let's have a look at the basic information for this one. See if my email is on there.

Go down. Yes, I'll make the changes. Let me see.

Yeah, it keeps putting in Spreaker as the email address and it's not me. It's me, man. Email address to authenticate podcast ownership.

If the Google Play email tag isn't included, Tunes email will be used. If the Google Play email tag isn't included, iTunes email will be used instead. I don't know what that means.

Genuinely don't know. However, I'm not gonna worry my pretty little head about that. Right.

Let's find this. Again, it is on here. So, nope.

Let's go back. Come on. Don't muck about.

Don't muck about. Next. Yeah, that's it.

That's my email address. So let's put the email address into this one. Let's see what I've done on Spotify on my popular podcast.

Well, popular on Apple anyway. Just when you thought you'd got away from the stats, I come and find a new way to make it even more boring. Right.

Select a category. Oh, it's doing this way with pop-ups. It's not allowing me.

Um, lifetime. Yeah, that's it. I'm gonna put in relaxation, self-help and mental health.

See stats. Oh, okay. Completely not what I thought.

What I thought was my most popular podcast. Is my least popular podcast according to this. Okay, not least, but after Deep Sleep Whisper, at least 75,000 streams, 46,000 listeners.

It just goes to show the listeners. 45, 70, 100, 110, 120, 130, 140, 150. So 150,000 people listened.

Different people listened. I'm going to keep this. Add to bookmark.

Catalog spot, Spotify. I'll put stats. Stats.

Yeah. Done. I don't know if there's any other podcast that might even be worth even looking at.

I mean, what other ones do I do? I sit in it really. No, it's not, but I do. I can't think of any that I really want to check.

One more, I suppose. No, I can't be bothered. That's it.

I'm upset now. I'm upset, man. I was just, it's just not right.

Wow. I just don't get it. It's got something wrong.

I wonder why. I mean, I'm grateful, as I said, to have Apple, but that's a kind of all your eggs in one basket situation, isn't it? If, wow. I mean, just, I don't know.

I just don't. I don't know what to do about that. I like the idea of spreading myself around.

I mean, I do. I am. As I said, I'm getting nearly 900,000 downloads a year from the other, was it 886,000 or something, from the other, you know, everyone else other than Apple.

That's not enough. My phone just bleeped. I don't know why.

Hmm. How strange. What's strange is, I picked up my phone for no reason.

Generally, picked it up. Great. The mobile phone app, the banking app is down.

It's not good, because I'm going to need to use it. Damn you. You take control of my life.

Hmm. This is very strange. I can't be the only one.

You know what I mean? Does anyone else think this is a bit strange? But it does vary between podcasts, though, because on this, the Let Me Bore You To Sleep podcast. Okay. So, Let Me Bore You To Sleep.

Since April, 149,690 downloads. Okay. And it's going up every month.

It's November. Oh no, blimey, I've got the stats from November. So, no, the whole of the year.

So, since November last year, it's gone up from 6094 in November to last month, 24,659. So far this month, 7234. So, it's grown steadily.

I mean, for one, two, three, four months in a row, it was standing around the 5,000, 10,500 a month. And then August, it jumped 13, then September to 22, then 24,659 in October. But sources, according to this, only 52% of my audience comes from Apple podcasts.

So, Spotify, 33.886%. No, 22.64%. Castbox, 5.19%. I just realized, me moaning about, oh, people hardly listen to me on Spotify, will probably be annoying to people maybe that listen to Spotify. Because they're like, well, I listen to you every day, what are you talking about? And clearly, there are people listening. It's just, but I suppose that makes the 33,886.

Does that tally up? Choose time range. November. So, 32,560.

33,886. So, it's kind of pretty much on the ball, isn't it? It's not far off. Hmm.

On my website, jasonnewland.com, 1,292 downloads. Castbox, 7,765. It's supposed to be boring.

Stop moaning. It's supposed to be boring. I'm not supposed to be exciting you and getting you all excited about life and stuff.

You're supposed to be going to sleep. You're supposed to be getting bored and going to sleep. So, stop moaning.

I'm talking about the stats. No one's interested. I know that.

I'm not even interested. I'm half asleep talking about it. It's boring.

Honestly, I'm getting so bored, I think I've gone impotent through boredom. But I'm continuing because it's supposed to be boring. I'm trying to be, but I'm doing my best.

I'm doing my best. Can't you just love me for that? Spotify, Spreaker. Oh, it's so boring.

But Spotify, brilliant. It just shows you that people are listening. I'm just not getting that many overall from anyone else.

I'm going to do a proper survey. See, again, you've got relaxation, hypnosis, stress and anxiety. Apple Podcasts, 94%.

Podbean, wow. Spotify is down at 0.28%. Blimey. I wonder I'm not getting any.

I wonder why that is? What do you reckon that is? Well, that's my most popular podcast. And, you know, just in the last 30 days alone, I've had 216,922 downloads, just in the last 30 days, and 206,515 are from Apple Podcasts. But Podbean is the next one up.

The next one down 1.32%. Then Podcast Addict, Stitcher, Castbox, iTunes, Spotify is all the way down there. But why is that? I don't understand. What about a sleep hypnosis music? What's that you might say? Well, if you took more notice, you'd realize I do more than one podcast.

I've got quite a few out there. What's that? What's that all about the sleep hypnosis music? Well, it's it's that's all right. It's not my most popular podcast, but I get about 1000 downloads a day at the moment.

Plus is 1930 downloads yesterday. 7976 so far today. Total of 164,576.

So far. So what's the stats on this one? Well, who listens? Apple Podcasts at top again. 76%.

So again, it's quite a small, smaller percentage than overall. Stitcher is next at 507%. 5.07. I'll just go 5%.

Castbox 3%. TuneIn 2%, 2.5%. Overcast 2%. Spotify all the way down at 1.72%. Man.

So I'm just one. There's gotta be one. I mean, I just all about my stop smoking course.

I stopped smoking podcast. Only 27,000 downloads, but sources. Apple Podcast 83%.

Ah, Spotify 6%. So Spotify likes that podcast. More than any of the others so far.

Okay. The thing is with with listeners. Okay, it does give me listeners on Spreaker thing, but like I said, for example, 1st of November, I had 253 listeners and 1205 downloads.

200. But I'm just, if I do, whenever I do something new on there, I get listeners. I get people listening.

When I do nothing, it goes down very low, like to 39. 26, 19 on one day in October. And then I do a couple of things and suddenly 1,205 downloads and start staying up at 400, 700, 300, 500.

And then today it's been 265. That's a podcast that could really become big. If I produced regular recordings on there.

If I did a new recording every week, I think I'd be looking at potentially one of my most successful podcasts. So that's something to look out for. I don't know what I bought.

What about this one? Statistics. So hypnosis is sleeping deeply. 8,581 downloads yesterday, 6,151 today.

95% is Apple podcast. 1.15% is Spotify. What about stress and pain relief? Well, no, because no one listens to that.

There's no point. I mean, they do listen to the recordings when I'm at other places, but it's still yet to kind of grow on the actual podcast, in the podcast world for the actual podcast. Okay, sleep, insomnia, hypnosis podcast.

So look at this. So 3,538 downloads a day, 4,145 yesterday. So 917,698.

So that will be my next million podcast sources, percentage, Apple podcast, 87%. Castbox, 3%. Overcast, 2%.

Podcast Addict, 2%. Spotify, 1.5%. So just shows you that. I don't know what it shows you, but lifetime, last 12 months, 519,000.

So that's gone up a lot anyway. Ah, over the last 12 months, 68% is Apple podcasts. 13.58% is Spotify, which I think, yeah, I was getting more Spotify in the past than I get now.

It's really gone down a hell of a lot. That's ridiculous. Seriously, November last year, 8,001 Spotify compared to 11,411 Apple.

December, 11,974 Spotify compared to 13,727. Whoa, really, it was given Apple podcast competition. Spotify, 13,146.

February, 7,300. 6,857 Spotify. Spotify, 6,539.

5,306. June, 4,047. July, it went down.

2,062. August, went down again. 1,904.

September. Now, bearing in mind, September, it went from 30,000 up to 69,000. And then October, 95,906.

Okay. Apple podcast, Spotify, 1,518. In September, 1,458 in Spotify in October.

Yeah, September, 57,000 Apple podcasts, and 84,500 in October Apple podcasts. This month so far, 26,773 Apple podcasts, 409 Spotify. So that's for the sleep insomnia hypnosis podcast.

It's really gone down. So either the people on Spotify don't like the podcast anymore. Or they've moved to Apple podcasts.

Or they just don't like it. Who knows? So hard to kind of figure out if I'm honest. How do you figure out? I don't know anyone.

Anyone? I don't know. Statistics. Right.

Relax and sleep hypnosis daily sources. The last 30 days 86% Apple podcasts 3.41% Spotify. That's over the last 30 days.

Crazy 571 Apple podcasts compared to 24 Spotify today. Now over the last 12 months. Wow.

Spotify has gone down again. It was much higher before I was getting 2000 Spotify in November last year. 2.8 in December, two and a half thousand in January.

And then I reached July and it goes down to one and a half, 1.7, 1.4,000 Spotify in September, and October 945 Spotify. But 21,469 Apple, you couldn't make it up. You couldn't make it up.

Listeners 4000. So even though it went up in October, there's less four, there's 4249 listeners apparently in October for that podcast. The this is the relax and sleep hypnosis daily.

But in June, there was 5619 listeners. April, May, June, five, five and a half plus 5000. Now it's 4249.

I'm kind of regretting sharing this now I should stop sharing it. It's weird. This is weird because still get more downloads than I've ever had ever, ever, ever, ever, ever.

It don't make sense. The stress and pain relief podcast. 47% from Apple.

14% podcast addict. Joe's oven. Heart Radio, love Spotify, 5.3%. Jason Newland, 1.95%. I didn't know that podcast on there.

Really? Of course I have got all podcasts. We're talking about. Yeah.

Oh, it's a lot to learn from. You know, going through the podcast statistics, but at the same time, I'm a little bit confused. If I'm honest, I'm going to plug in my headphones.

Oh, where are you? Where are you little monkey? They last quite a long, they last, they last quite a long time. The headphones, these are the headphones for the telly. So at night, I like to like to wear headphones.

Basically, this is it. Um, okay. So this is relaxation hypnosis podcast.

87% Apple. Wow. Spotify is way down.

Yeah. List on that one. Ah, how strange.

What if my website's on there? Nah, nah, it's not. No, no. So what about this? And what about chronic pain podcast? That's been getting a few extra downloads lately.

56% Apple podcast, Spotify 19.66%. So maybe chronic pain is more popular on Spotify. I don't know. I'm not as Spotify was always the place to be.

You know, I list I use Spotify. I also use Apple as well. I use a lot of Apple stuff, really, I guess.

Oh, yes. There's one here. Did I check out the stats for the deep sleep whisper? I probably did.

I just can't remember doing it. 89% Apple podcasts over the last 30 days. I wonder if it's the same.

My website 90 0.19%. Let's say if it's the last 12 months. Let's say so I've got Spotify 557 Spotify in October last November 1535 2658 Spotify in December to 20210. Wow.

And just over time, it's gone down down. So 557 Spotify this last month 33,578 Apple podcasts. This is the deep sleep whisper hypnosis.

One of my more popular ones. Nearly 500,000 downloads on that one. But thank goodness for Apple podcasts.

I mean, I don't know. Spotify and check something. It says here, right.

Analyst says Spotify is close to overtaking Apple podcasts. This is September 2021. Data for a new analysis by eMarketer shows that Spotify is expected to reach 28.2 million users by the end of 2021.

eMarketer says the same. 40% of US internet users will tune into a podcast via Spotify. And 29.1 million will listen to app by Apple podcasts.

And this is in March 2021. Spotify podcast listeners to top Apple's for the first time. Spotify says US podcast listeners now use its service more.

They're probably going to say something they're going to say. No one listens ever. Okay.

Wow. I don't know. I'm just a bit.

Apple goes to battle with Spotify in premium podcast push. Apple announced on Tuesday, it will launch Apple podcast subscriptions, which will let users pay to unlock new content. Yeah, they did approach me for that as well.

When it approached me, didn't knock on my door, or call me up. Hey, JJ. It's Yeah.

It's Bob from Apple. I was wondering if you'd like to do some premium content on you. Hmm.

No. Oh, go on. So Spotify podcast market share.

This is for a blindness is Forbes.com as Spotify becomes a top dog in podcast directories. If you're listening to this on on Apple podcasts, thank you. Without you, I wouldn't have a you know, I'd have a very small, very small listener group of listeners.

Maybe three 3000 or something. As a tree fell, it was a less than 2400 a day. Wow.

As Spotify, this is back in September 2021 on Forbes.com. As Spotify becomes a top dog in podcast directories, Google lags behind recent data show from Buzzsprout show Spotify is a new king of podcast directories. A little more than a third 31.7% of all podcast listeners use Spotify to access their favorite shows, a counter for nearly 25 million downloads in August 2021. Then that that brings me to a light question.

21 million is not a lot. 25 million downloads in a month is this guy can't make sense because last month I got 669,868 which is you know, it's not that far off a million really is it? So 25 21 million 25 million downloads in one month for the whole of No, they've made a mistake there. Yeah, they've made a mistake there.

Be fine. It says behind Spotify is Apple podcast, the default podcasting app on all iOS devices. Apple captured 21.1 million downloads for August 2021.

Again that that No, no, it doesn't make sense. 21 million people, maybe, but even then, it's not, that's not going to be proportionate. It's going to be more than that.

You know, it's unless there isn't maybe there is only 26.9%. So 25 million is 31%. So you're looking at like 72 million people. Maybe that is how many people are listening.

Google podcasts lag behind the competition with 2.9% share the downloads, roughly 2.2 million. This is in a month, ladies and gentlemen. I don't think they know what they're talking about.

Not far behind Google podcast is cast box, a directory that also produces his own podcast with 2000. It says cast box had 2,258,895 downloads. No, it's just impossible.

This is just made up stuff. How? Where do they get this from? Someone's got commented and it's got to be a comment. Hence the saying.

What on earth are you talking about? No. Ari Lightman, professor of digital media and marketing at Carnegie Mellon University's Heinz College. What? At Carnegie Mellon University's Heinz College.

You're joking me. That's a bit of a mouthful, isn't it? Blimey. Carnegie Mellon University's at Heinz College.

Heinz as in baked beans. Stop it. Have some dignity.

Do not name your college after a tin of beans. Think of the long haul, not short term. Unless, of course, I suppose, you know, if Heinz says, well, I'm gonna, we're gonna support you for the rest of eternity.

It's got to name your college Heinz. Okay. Okay.

I'll change my name. I would I change my name to peanut butter. If peanut butter decided to sort of sponsor my show.

I don't care. It's peanut butter Jason. I beat peanut butter.

Forget me surname, peanut butter, new land, or Jason peanut butter. It says here, Spotify as a streaming medium platform has a logical extension into the podcast market and was able to acquire podcast providers and support an application. Which is true.

With their experience in building community and recommendations around content streaming, it gives them further differentiation. Google was a slow entrant into the space and many of their users found other applicants applications to provide them access to podcasts. Spotify's entire business is dedicated to audio, which means they are laser focused on increasing podcast users in their already popular audio app.

She said, Google has very isolated business units and historically hedged their bets across all of them, which is why it took them so long to shut down Google Play and make Google podcasts the only way to consume shows. Google's business is in search. And we're starting to see increasing podcast consumption from there.

Right. So there's no comments allowed on this for some reason. I would have liked to have seen some comments, my dears, I would have done.

No, nowhere where comments are. So that was a bit of a rubbish. It's not.

It was a nice article, but the stats, I reckon they've mislaid. They've put the word downloads instead of people. I reckon what they meant to put was listeners.

A little more than three to 31.7% of all podcast listeners use Spotify to access their favorite shows, accounting for nearly 25 million listeners in August 2021, instead of 25 million downloads. Because it can't be right at all. Because if that was right, I'm the most successful podcaster in the world.

Because I hold well, just think about it. If 30 if there's 70 million downloads a month, across all of the spectrums. Okay.

And I'm nearly on a million. I mean, that makes me like one of the biggest hitters out there. And I'm not clearly I'm far, far from that.

You know, I got 670,000 last month. Why do you keep telling us that you told us enough times? I mean, what are you wetting yourself excitement? No, it's on the wall. I can see on the one just reminded myself.

I'm gonna keep telling this. Oh, do you know I started to go at me all the time. I'm just just trying to point out that 25% of the market to 21.1 million downloads.

You know, if if all the downloads in the world was, if I'm getting 10% nearly of all the downloads, not 10% 70 million 700,000 700,000 700,000 7 million 1% Okay. Now I'm just thinking, okay. But it's 1% it means this 70.

there's a hundred people yeah there's only a hundred so yeah I might be on one percent but that means there's only a hundred people doing podcasts you get me do you understand what EMI is saying it's not true it can't be they're making it up I mean I know for a fact there's podcasts out there they're getting more than 30 million downloads I think probably a week 300 plus a month but somebody they're just copying like this one this is techcrunch.com Spotify's u. s. podcast literature was apart first time this year when exactly this is where it comes in for the first time this year when 28.
