Hello and welcome to jasonnewland.com. My name is Jason Newland, this is Let Me Bore You To Sleep. Please only listen when you can safely close your eyes. I hope you are well, today is Sunday the 23rd of May 2021.
Today is the first day that I have made any recordings for a few days. The last day was, no wait a minute, I did one yesterday, that's a lie then isn't it. I did one last night.
The actual hypnosis stuff, the last time I did anything I think was Tuesday and it's now Sunday. So I did a deep sleep whisper, I did a relax and sleep hypnosis daily and I did a stress and pain relief podcast episode and now I'm doing this one. So yeah, it's a full day of podcasts, although a full day would probably be Jason's bedtime story time as well, but that's, I'm going to look into doing some more of those coming soon.
I kind of wasn't sure, you know, considering how the week's kind of been, I wasn't sure if I was, how I felt about making new recordings, it's, but yeah, it's been okay, I've just found that the creativity is still there, the focus in some ways, possibly more focused because I haven't got any distractions at all here in my flat.
So, I wish I did, but you know, it's weird, it's very strange, again I don't, I try and keep these as light as I can, these boring podcasts and I'll try and save the, maybe some of the grittier parts of life or whatever to the Jason chats that I do, but you know, I just want to say a big thank you to everybody, I know I've already said thank you, but the amount of messages that I've had about Andre, the amount of kind words is just phenomenal really, and I posted a message on Facebook the
other day saying I've read all the messages but I've not replied to them, because there's too many, but I'm thinking I want to try and go through and reply to each one individually, it's just going to take me quite a few hours I think, but I have read all the messages and it's just, so if you have left a message and I've not replied or I've not, it's not that I've not read them, I have, and I really really appreciate your kind, kindness and support, it's, yeah, it's strange, a strange time, and then again, it's
just something that's happened, someone that I got to know a little bit, my friend, he's a friend of a friend, but I got to sort of know him because my friend was, he was staying with my friend and my friend was looking after him, he was very very ill, and just found out he died like two nights ago, so that was my friend's kind of grieving him, and I feel sad as well because I got on really well with him, we really connected quite well actually, and he had a great sense of humour about his
illness, because he'd already been diagnosed terminal, but he had a, he was just funny with it, you know, he kind of almost acted like he didn't care, and I suppose on one level he probably didn't, but on another level he clearly did because he did seek treatment, so he went for a period when he was just not getting any medical help at all, his stomach was ballooning up, he was joking about being pregnant and stuff, you know, and eventually he did go to the hospital and he had the treatment that he needed, which was basically
palliative care I guess, but I think there was an idea that if he, if he had the treatment and he kept, you know, lived a different lifestyle, that he may live, you know, for a longer time, but then, well he didn't, he didn't, you know, I don't know if he changed his lifestyle, but within a short time he'd passed, and so I've only really known him since Christmas or January time, but I shared a, I shared a car ride with him that will remain in my mind forevermore, he was just, crazy driver, but reflexes, you
know, he could have been a stunt driver, his reflexes were so quick, but scared the hell out of me, and he found it hilarious, I think he was doing it just, just because it was so funny, seeing my reaction, wow, but, so that was just strange, kind of added on to, you know, what already happened, so yeah, it's been a strange week, the last couple of years are just been strange for everybody, haven't they, you know, night 2020, and let's face it, most of, half of 2021 so far nearly, it's been all about the old
virus that's been going on, oh, I'm having, I'm having my first vaccine tomorrow afternoon, so I did have one booked before, but it was in a different town, so I had to travel, and I was ill, I had a bad stomach, so I couldn't go, I, you know, I thought that maybe it was the anxiety, the nerves of it, and at that time it was loads of stuff in the news about possible side effects, and stuff like that, but my bad stomach lasted for about six days, so I don't think it was that, I just
happened to have a bad stomach, and I couldn't travel too far away from the bog, from the toile, so there you go, so I've got my vaccine, the first one, the second one's booked for August, and it's just up the road from where I live, so it's not far to go to at all, which is good, yeah, I watched a movie the other day, which is quite good, it was Army of the Dead, it was on Netflix, it was like a zombie, zombie movie, but it was alright, you know, it was, it was kind of
like a blockbuster movie really, and it was some funny bits, it was, you know, gory bits and stuff, but it was, it was more like a, I don't know, in some ways more like a family film, like a family blockbuster, but it was an 18 certificate, I don't know, I couldn't really see why, I think it had a, it showed a female's nipple, I think that's probably why they had it as 18, I've seen equal violence in films that were 15, and swearing, 15, you don't get 18 for swearing, generally I don't think, so nudity
is something that will put something, you know, push something to be an 18.
Mind you, Titanic, that had a boobie scene didn't it, old Kate Winslet being drawn in the nut by Caprico, bloke, so that was good, not good obviously, I mean, I was much more worried about the boat, see for me, ok, I didn't watch it when it came out, because I knew what was going to happen, it's like, oh it's a movie, when are you going to go and see, oh Titanic, well what happens in that movie then, ask nobody ever, you know what happens, it's like, I want to go and watch a movie about the
second world war, why, you know the result, watch something where you don't know the result, I don't know what that would be, I guess a made up movie, I do struggle sometimes with the movies where they just skip big pieces out, ok, there was a film about Wider, who's the Wider brothers actually, and they started the Mr Olympia, where Arnold Schwarzenegger was, sort of made it worldwide famous because of him, you know, doing pumping eye in the movie and then going on and being a, quite a large film star, but I think it was really
focused on Joe Wider, who was the, he was the one that, I think was kind of the driving force, but they missed, they just missed stuff out and skipped right through to making out, like the last bit of the film was, trying to make out, it was like the first ever Mr Olympia, and he just discovered Arnold, and brought him in, because Arnold had done the Mr Universe and won that, but Arnold had already been in Mr Olympia twice, before he won it, he came second the second time, I think he might come third or
whatever the first time, something like that, and this Mr Big Chunk is like, is this wrong, why did you, they put so much effort into getting little bits right, to then just miss out bits which, ok the general public wouldn't know, perhaps, but anyone that knows anything about bodybuilding, or about Arnold's like past as a bodybuilder, would know that like, he was a runner up in the 19, was it 1969, Mr Olympia, against Serge Olivier, and Serge Olivier, I think quit then, I think Serge Olivier was Mr Olympia for, I think 3 years, I think,
I might have it wrong, it might have been 2 years, but it was definitely, it was multiple times, and then Arnold won it in 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, and 1975, and then he came back in 1980, won it the 7th time, 71, 2, 3, 4, 5, yeah I think that's right, I might have it wrong, but he did win it a few times, that's what I'm saying, he used to be friends with a former Mr Universe, called, what was his name, Felix, Felix, this is terrible I forget his name, but he was Mr Olympia,
Felix, that might have been his surname, not Bert, Rufus, no no, Rufus, oh by the way that thing on the, that thing that covers a house, is called a roof, not a ruff, not a ruff, it's a roof, I'm all about education, why would they put the television arrow on the roof, no, they're going to put it onto the, what, you're going to find a dog, wait until it barks and goes woof, and then you're going to, what, somehow attach it to that breath that comes out of the dog's mouth, as it goes ruff, ruff,
ruff, that's not going anywhere is it there, I'll stop, Felix, Felix, Felix, oh damn it, his name will come to me, but he was from, I think he was from Trinidad, or Jamaica or somewhere, he was so nice, honestly, he was lovely, and I used to walk past his gym, probably for a good couple of years, probably more actually, more than that, and I'd see this big cardboard cut out, Felix Dexter, Felix Dexter maybe, and there'd be this cut out of this big, like muscly man, and I was just like, but it was like a,
almost like a miniature human, not a miniature human, but you know, 5 foot 4 cardboard cut out, and I thought, wow, it's good the way they kind of put that together, and then when I met him he really was 5 foot 4, or 5 foot 5, he was very short, I mean I'm 5 foot 8, so I'm pretty short, but he was a lot shorter than me, but wow, you know, you didn't notice it because he was so big, he's just, Felix Dexter, so I could put it in there, I could find it in 2
seconds on Google, but I want to remember it, I want to start trying to remember things, if I can, Felix, Troubini, not Troubini, but he was lovely, he was honestly, he's absolutely one of the loveliest people I've ever met, and he was so helpful, and the fact that he was a star, he was quite a big name in bodybuilding, I think he had the largest biceps in the bodybuilding world at the time for his weight category, I mean clearly he wasn't a heavy man, he was, you know, he would have been in, probably, well I
guess a different weight category, like a smaller weight category, so for his category, his arms were the biggest arms, biggest biceps in his category at the time, Felix, I'm not sure his name was Felix, but I used to see, I remember seeing him in the bodybuilding magazines in the middle 80's, because I used to buy magazines like that, because, well partly because I was going to the gym trying to, and doing weights and trying to sort of build myself up, which didn't really work, and secondly because the reason I was really going into the newsagents
and the magazines I was aiming to get, I just, I chickened out, so I ended up buying like something else instead, so a boxing magazine or bodybuilding or some horoscope magazine or something like that, instead of the Playboy or whatever it is I really wanted, but there you go, it would never have been Playboy, it would have been more the Mayfair, I mean there was quite a few at the time, Biggins, there was actually one called Biggins, like really, no there really was, yeah of course I mean I wouldn't even know if those kinds of
things were sold anymore, because we have the internet, Felix Dexter, that doesn't sound right, but it does sound right, I'm going to search, I'm sorry, I'll try to, Felix Dexter, there we go, Felix Dexter, blimey is this a comedian, Felix Dexter Bursary, Felix Dexter was a comedian in Douglas, Felix, Felix, Felix, I'm sure Felix was in the name, so bodybuilder, Mark Felix, no, Eric Felix, no, okay if I put in Mr Universe, Mr Universe, Flex Lewis, Flex Wheeler, Kenneth, nope, Flex, list of bodybuilders, this is too many, it's like a list of male bodybuilders, if
I look at Felix, F, F, F, H, I, A, B, C, D, Felix, damn you, I've got no idea, I know how to check, bodybuilder, Ford's, because he used to work at Ford's, Martin Ford, really, okay, I'm going to change Stratford, Stratford, no, come on, so if I put in Felix, Felix, bodybuilder Stratford Felix, that's ridiculous, I think his name is wrong, I don't think that's his name, it can't be, Mr Universe, nope, so there's another bodybuilder called Max O'Connor from Stratford, but we don't, see we've got Stratford but it might be, nope, it's Stratford-Upon-Avon,
say Stratford-Upon-Avon then, Mr Universe, I could put down his, yeah I could put down Blimey, X-mas the Universe, Dexter Felix, Dexter, Dexter, Universe, World Championships, I'm genuinely looking and I can't find him, but I know he exists because I met him, it's annoying, it's annoying, so I just, so I don't even know by his picture, what he looks like, come on, he's got to be somewhere, stop hiding, what are you hiding for, see this is, I'm going to find him, I am going to find him because it's going to annoy me, the thing is I
have actually mentioned him before, but, however, Bert, Bertie, no, Mr Olympia, he didn't, he might have entered the Mr Olympia as well, I don't know, I think there are different versions of the Mr Universe you see, Herbert, Sybil, Sherbert, no, Sherbert is definitely not a name is it, Herbert, Bobby, nope, anyway he was a really nice bloke, that's got to be the point of what I'm trying to say, but for some reason it looks like he never existed, and I know he did, but can he find him, the thing is he, I think he, he
was, who's that, that looks like it might be him, the reason I'm saying it is because he's got a big smile, he looks happy, go away, you're going to a page and it's like, do you accept all this stuff, go away, no I don't, Mr Universe 1971, Sergio Olivia, no, no, Franco Colombo, no, Roy Callender, Ken Waller, he was in Pumping Iron, Frank Zane, blimey, Giuseppe Deanna, he's got big old arms, Ed Corner, Vic Downs, Al Beckles, blimey, see Al Beckles, he was a phenomena, he was I think, he was in his 50s in 1985
when he came I think third in the Mr Olympia, yet he was winning, he won the 1971 Mr Universe, that's a big, that's a, I guess not that huge in years I guess maybe, but it was, really, really, when you think about it, come on, Bertie, not Bertie, blimey, this has got to be the most boring podcast ever, oh it's supposed to be, good, good, good, good, good, Herbert, Shania, nope, Raquel, that's the problem, with things that happened before the internet was around, a lot of that stuff is just not being, it's not being collected
for some reason, come on, form Mr Universe, ok, Virgil, not Virgil, alright, now trying to delete, the deletion's not working, great, what's going on, I guess what's going on is the thing is not connected, how weird, trying to delete something, it's not happening, why, why me, why, it's still not happening, no it's not allowing me to delete, it's very strange, maybe if I do something else, now it's not allowing me to type, I don't understand, why is it doing that, maybe it's because I'm using the app to record this and it's decided, nope, not another
thing at the same time, thank you very much, how unusual, yeah, I just can't remember his name then, it's gone, it's gone, but he was so lovely, I can't remember him, I can't remember his name, all I know is I got on really well with him, but his wife did not like me for some reason, I wasn't sure if she just didn't like anyone, but she definitely did not like me, I actually, because I used to go to the gym, and one of the things I liked about it is they did have quite a few
bodybuilders go there, because him being like a former professional bodybuilder, it attracted current bodybuilders I guess, and, but it was never like really busy, because I used to go during the day, because the main time I went there really was when I was doing security, and I'd work at night and then I'd go to the gym, maybe sort of in the afternoon or something after I'd been to sleep, sometimes maybe I'd go to the gym before going to bed, and it was good, they had a punch bag in there as well, but, no, and, Felix,
I still remember this, anyway, I still used to stop and chat to him in the late 90s, maybe even up to 2000, because I used to live around the corner from the gym, and I'd go and sort of, sometimes he'd be outside and I'd just stop and have a chat, I said, how you doing?
Nope, that didn't work, I thought that might work, how you getting on?
Nope, that didn't work, I can't remember his name, he is in on it, he is on the internet somewhere, he's just not, I'm pretty sure there's even a website, you know, based around him, with old pictures and stuff like that, pretty sure I found a video on YouTube of him posing as well, so, there have been times that I've remembered his name, OK, I'm just going to try and hypnotise myself to remember his name, so I've got my hands apart, when my hands touch, I will remember his name, I'm going to count down from 20
down to 1, and my hands will gradually get closer and closer, and when they touch, I will remember his name, easily, 14, 13, 12, 11, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1, Dexter, no, that didn't work, I do, it's almost as if I know it now, but I just can't, I do know it, it's now in my, it's near my knowledge, it's close, it's getting closer, I can feel it, it's getting closer, it's moving, it's almost like it's underwater and it's moving up to the top, his name is going to pop up in
a minute, I can feel it, I've requested it, and it's like I've just got into a fast food place and I've got my ticket and I'm just waiting for my food to be ready, for him to call out the number, 89, 22, OK, just waiting, waiting, waiting, waiting, it's coming, it is coming, honestly, it is, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, and I think it's quite a catchy name as well, it rolls off your tongue, like that, I'm sure it's Felix, if I move away from Felix, just let that go, and I can just remember his
name, text, again, OK, Felix, bodybuilder, body, I know, I know a way of doing it, bodybuilder, who had gym in Stratford, Stratford, 90s, what, bodybuilder grandma tells how she found new love at the gym, stop it, damn you, damn you, are the names coming closer to me, it is, it's coming closer, it's coming closer, yes, East London, it's not even interesting I guess to other people, but just, just, you know what I mean, to me, to me, it's really interesting, who had, OK, who had, bodybuilder who had gym in Stratford, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert,
Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert,
Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert, Bert what is ...
ok ... Stratford, any bodybuilder had gym in Stratford, 90s London um, ok old gym, Stratford, 90s London person, it's not gonna be here it because the internet weren't around then so why would I have it in here? Come on now.
Wind me up. Stratford. Ah maybe here.
It'll have a picture. A picture. Nope.
No. No. I said no.
Um. Newprint. Not Newprint.
Jim. Jim in Stratford. 1971.
Really? There's a picture of a Jim. Oh no it's called Jim 1971. Ah I was gonna say because that looked like quite a nice up-to-date picture.
Dexter. Not Dexter. Stratford.
Layton Stone Road. Let's try that. Muscle Hearts.
I'm sure I had his name on it but I might be wrong. Oh. Anyway.
The point I really was trying to make was he but nope. What he did is I when I became a hypnotist back in 1980 no 1990. Yeah I think it was 98 that I started training learning hypnosis.
99. I think it was 99. That I decided I wanted to start practicing with people.
Using hypnosis and NLP. I was looking for a office. An office.
A therapy room or something like that. No. Name's still not come.
The name's there. I'm just waiting for it to pop up. It's a bit like you know when you're in a bath and you and you get the rubber duck and you put it underneath your your legs and eventually you just open your legs a little bit and it pops up.
Sometimes it actually comes out of the water. That's what I'm waiting for. Burt.
I'm sure his name is Burt. Burt. So yeah.
I there was an office. Well it's like a shop. As you walked into the gym you went up the stairs and the gym was upstairs.
Downstairs just to the right there was a doorway and it was in like a shop. But there was nothing in it. In the window was a picture of Felix.
Again his name wasn't Felix wasn't it. Obviously because I can't find a Felix. A Felix.
I'm just gonna keep. Nope. Damn you're.
There you go. And. I spoke to.
I ended up speaking to his wife about renting the space downstairs. So I think she rented it to me for about 90 pound a week. And sometimes.
So I kind of organized a way of getting the money and it might be less than that. But it was around that kind of money. And she.
I painted it. I redecorated the place. But it wasn't suitable at all for what I wanted.
But I was just. I guess I liked that place and I thought good connection. Hypnosis.
Connected to something which was also health. Physical health based. To something that maybe.
Maybe there could be a connection between the two. Get some customers that way. Plus passing trade.
You know put an advert in the window. People. I don't know.
I just. I was. I didn't really know what I was doing as far as.
Promotion and stuff. But. I was quite excited.
Quite. Philip. Not Philip.
Phil. Pill. Prippy.
No. Dexter. No.
What was his name? I feel like I'm doing him any injustice. But I'm not. All he said that he was lovely.
I just can't remember his actual name. And it will come to me probably when I'm in bed. Oh yeah.
Dexter. Felix. Dexter Felix.
Dexter. New brew. New Bray.
Brez. Brezier. No.
It's. What on earth was that? Did you hear that? That's what the water bottle just clicked on its own for no reason. I don't understand.
Why would it do such a thing? Okay. So let's go. Let's go.
Let's go. Let's go. Bodybuilder.
Bodybuilder. Worked. At Ford's.
He worked at Ford's. Martin Ford is a six foot eight bodybuilder. No.
No. That's not what I wanted. Martin Ford.
Oh. 2021. Right.
Okay. No. That's weird.
Bodybuilder. Worked at Ford's. And went to Mr Universe.
No. Felix. I'm sure his name is Felix.
Felix. Nope. Damn you.
Damn you. Damn you very much. Universe.
Mr Universe. 1970s. 1980s.
Dupre. Not Dupre. Oh come on.
Mr Universe. Um. Or Sergio Olivia.
Yeah. It's not him because he was the. Not Steve Reeves either.
Of course not. Mr Olympia. List of every winner.
I accept. Just stupid. Larry Scott.
Okay. So here we go. Yeah.
So I was even under exaggerating. Mr Olympia started in 1965. And Arnold won.
The um. One two three four five. The sixth one.
Arnold won. 1970. 71.
72. 73. 74.
And 75. And then again in 1980. The thing is.
Oh it's not giving you the runners up. Oh yes it is. Larry.
No it isn't. So the first winner was Larry Scott. And then Larry Scott again in 65.
66. Mr Olympia. Sergio Olivia won it three times.
67. 68. And 69.
Then Arnold of course won it six times in a row. Took a break. To become a film star.
And then he came back. And he won it again. Now other people have won it a lot of times as well.
Lee Haney won it 1984. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. Wow.
Lee Haney was the Mr Olympia during my time. Not my time as a bodybuilder. But my time as reading the magazines.
So about 1984. 85. So Lee Haney 1985.
So Mr Olympia. One two three four five six seven eight times. Eight times Mr Olympia.
Dorian Yates won it one two three four five six. So Lee Haney's the winner so far out of all the bodybuilders. Dorian Yates and then Ronnie Coleman comes along.
He wins it 98. And he wins it one two three four five six seven times. So he equaled Arnold.
Jay Cutler won it twice in a row. And then he won it another two times. So he had a year when he didn't win it.
Then he won it two times. So he won it four times. Phil Heath won it one two three four five six.
One two three four five six seven times. Wow. I'm so out of touch.
I don't even know who Phil Heath is. I think it's the first time I've even heard his name. Which is ridiculous.
How crazy is that? I didn't even know he was. I've heard of all the others. Jay Cutler.
Ronnie Coleman. Dorian Yates. Lee Haney.
And the ones from the past like Franco Colombo. Frank Zane. Arnie of course.
Sergio Olivia. But blimey. Blimey.
No I did not heard of Phil Heath before. Unless I have. He was born in 1979.
Blimey. And raised in Seattle. He started bodybuilding in 2002.
79, 89, 99. So he was 23 years old before he started. Wow.
So he won the first Mr. Olympia in 2011. I think that was loud wasn't it? I think the thing about Mr. Olympia's is they they seem to have a favorite body type. That is like a fashion you know.
With Dorian Yates it was about bulk. He was huge. Absolutely huge.
I think he was like the biggest bodybuilder that who won a Mr. Olympia than they'd ever seen. And he kept winning year after year because that's what other bodybuilders were trying to be like. Trying to be like him.
But in the older days I guess after Dorian Yates Ronnie Coleman. Well he was huge as well. I mean they're Mr. Olympia they're all pretty big to be fair.
But there was different types and sometimes they sort of steered towards going for more definition than bulk. And it just really depended. So it's this Mr. Olympia sort of transition through different periods.
I can't no idea what I'm talking about. It sounded like I did but I don't really. I'm not a bodybuilder am I? I could be.
Yeah. Yeah only probably from a Dr. Frankenstein perspective. I could build a body but that's about it.
I'm not saying it would be messy. It would be messy. So yeah.
That I do believe is. Oh blimey. Why can't I remember his name? Okay.
Think about it. Think about it. What was his name? Come on think about his name.
His name. His name. His name.
Felix. No. Dexter.
No. Bodybuilder. Yeah.
But he wasn't called bodybuilder. Oi bodybuilder come here. No.
Steve. Nope. No I can't remember it.
I apologize. I tried my bestest to remember his name but I can't. I just can't.
I'm thinking of getting myself a puppet glove or glove puppet. You know a puppet. Just thought I'd let you know.
That might be the new the new the new addition to the family. Hard. Anyway that's it for me.
Remember to be kind to yourself because you deserve to be happy. Lots of love. Bye.
