Hello and welcome to jasonnewland.com My name is Jason Newland and this is let me bore you to sleep. Please only listen when you can safely close your eyes. I messed up.

I did. I proper messed up. Not just in my normal messing everything up way but in a new creative way.

But those of you that listen regularly know that the stats are quite important to me. So basically I messed up the stats big big time and I'll give you an example. Let me give you an example.

I didn't understand quite what was going on. All I know is the stats went down a lot the last couple of days. Like a lot.

Yeah a lot a lot. So what is it Friday today isn't it. So Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday.

Monday 4,423 downloads. Tuesday 7,413. Wednesday 3,788.

Thursday 3,319. Now there's something wrong with that. You're like wait a minute less than 4,000.

That's just wrong. So I started to look at the individual podcasts. Okay what's going on.

The sleep insomnia hypnosis podcast which is one of my top ones. I normally get even on a slow day it's usually you know about a thousand. The previous two days 132 and 194.

And then there's the let me bore you to sleep. Admittedly that doesn't seem to have been affected. That's amazing.

But the relaxation for stress one. Monday 1,159. Tuesday 1,382.

Wednesday 43. Thursday 551. So it started to pick up a bit when I made some changes.

So anyway that just gives you an idea. Basically what happened is I had an email from Chartable which is a it's a website that helps you get statistics and you know it's a good good website. And they said to me it's quite good you know if you're a podcaster and you get yourself known a bit and they promote you and stuff.

Well they sent me an email saying or we can get you much much better stats you know in you know more information from your stats. All you need to do is just post the link into your different you know websites into your podcasts which is what I did. And then I didn't do it to all of the podcasts but I did it to five at least five the main ones.

And yeah it affected everything. It affected the whole thing. I went to Chartable yesterday and saw that I'd had 4,000 downloads that they'd collected.

4,000 that should have been on Spreaker which wasn't. So I'm like but those 4,000 are not going to count towards what I do on you know generally. It still counts but so I did have people listening just they weren't logged with my podcast host.

I've contacted Spreaker and they've not replied yet. And I in the meantime I've I think I've corrected it. I've taken the stuff off.

Taken the added bit of you know the the link thing out of my podcasts and they seem to be getting back to normal again. So for example yesterday the relaxation I made a a relaxation session last night and you know that had 226 downloads. So that grew.

So from the day before 43 yesterday 551. So I said that's a very low day and I wouldn't get that many. I'd get more than that if I did more.

I'll try and explain. Let's go back let's say 30 days last 30 days. No.

25. Nope. 28.

Okay. So 28th of January. Yeah.

Okay. So basically 43 downloads is just ridiculous. On a day where I don't produce anything it might go down to five six hundred.

Seven hundred you know. But what if I produce one recording. It will go above the fact the thousand sometimes fifteen hundred.

So. Yeah. I hope I've fixed it.

I really do. Because that proper annoyed me. It was so much goodness in my heart when I did it.

It was really just you know the more I know what I can find out about you know what people listen to the age not necessarily the age group but just where people are from I find that interesting. And the more information I get the more I can try and cater to that you know use that information. That was the whole point of it.

Yeah. Anyway I hope I've sorted it back out. I'm going to make some recordings specifically for each of those podcasts that took a huge dip in the hope that they will get back to normal.

I'll know within a couple of days whether they've got back to normal. Because. You know just yesterday I made one recording.

But that that's enough. It should take me to the five thousand downloads. A day.

You know it's it's the more more the more you do the more people listen. I guess that's kind of the thing. I was so disappointed in myself.

I really was. Well first of all I was looking at the stats thinking people have stopped listening to me. Now you know I haven't posted as much this month as I normally do.

But then I haven't been very well you know I had a cough and it's hard to make recordings when you've got a constant cough. It's not so bad if it's every now and then because I can edit it out. But it got to the point where it was every time I went to talk I'd cough.

And in the end I thought well you know what I just won't make any recordings. I'll work on the website. I'll do other work and do other stuff.

But I'll just leave the recordings alone for a few days which is what I did. Now I like to think that my audience isn't that temperamental. That you know well he hasn't made a recording for an hour.

That's it. Not listening ever again. I produce more than most people.

I think that could be agreed on I'm sure. You know I generally I produce more recordings in a week probably than most people do in a month. Sometimes you know sometimes I've released four or five a day.

Some people only release one a week. So based on that in two weeks I'll do a whole year's worth of someone that releases one a week. Some people release two a week.

You know this is with the Let Me Boy To Sleep ones they're usually daily. But I go through a few periods you know sometimes when I don't do one for a couple of days or I mean if you go back a while there was I've gone weeks without making one. Rare but there has been the odd occasion where I haven't made a recording for maybe two or three weeks.

I don't think I get away with that now though. If I'm gone for more than two days I get people messaging me. Where you been? Jason wake up.

We need you to make a recording please. Are you okay? Go and plug the microphone in. Go on.

Make a recording. So yeah that's that's what I did last night. I thought you know well actually it was afternoon time wasn't it? It was like late I think it was about four or five o'clock I did that relaxation one.

And also yeah I couldn't believe it the Let Me Boy To Sleep one on the was shared with the Sleep Insomnia podcast. It had something like I think yesterday no actually yesterday when I looked at zero downloads. Zero.

Since for two days for two days it's zero downloads. And then when I took the thingy off then I changed it. It went up to 48 downloads.

So it's just really strange. Now 46 downloads. So that's the Sleep Insomnia Hypnosis.

As I said I normally that's one of my most popular podcasts. 491,000 for that one. So yesterday I ended up with 203 downloads.

Normally I'd get about if I didn't make any recordings again like six six hundred seven hundred downloads. And then it's like a thousand or so. If I make a one record and if I do a few then it goes up a lot.

So I've never had. I mean I can go through the podcast. Not once have I had one recording get 46 downloads ever.

It's never happened ever ever ever. In fact to give you an example the previous Let Me Boy To Sleep. So 588 had 279 downloads.

The one before that of number 587 had 545 downloads. Wow. Blimey I do get quite a few downloads for these ones.

So fingers crossed when I upload this to that podcast as well as the others that it'll be back to normal. Please please I really want it to get back to normal. So on a positive I have completed.

I say completed it's never going to be completed but it is now fully functional. Functionable. My website jasonnewland.com is everything including the most up to date.

It's all up to date podcasts all the podcast episodes for my four main podcasts are on there and you can down you can stream for free and download for free. Didn't you say you could download for a pound. Yeah I was being generous now.

I thought it's too generous offering people to pay money. I thought no I'm just giving too you know nah. I'll only spend the money on a helicopter.

So I took that all off. It's all free. Let me explain my thinking.

Right. I have to go by how I feel. Well I need to go I need to go by how I feel and every time I try and I've done it a few times you know I think well I have to keep it free.

This service has to be free. It has to be and for me even though the streaming was free the fact that you could download stuff for a pound it didn't feel free to me. So I took the money off.

It has to be free and I know that goes against society it goes against business and but it has to be this yeah for how I feel for for my own sense of peacefulness and well-being and I've you know I do this and you know what yeah it feels right now. The website feels right. You can stream or you can download and I can't offer more than that really can I. It's you know you can stream or download for free.

That's a free service and it's always been free and I want it to stay free and you know I still intend to make this my living in the future. I'm not sure how I'm going to do that but whether it's writing a book whether it's I don't know something. I'm going to be starting back on YouTube very soon.

I think I'm 90% sure it depends on a few things but this time I want to do it properly. Like before I used to do YouTube videos and they were awful quality. Really I remember I used to film on my iPhone so technically I was using quite good quality phone good quality camera.

I had a camcorder at one time. I've used what do they call them webcams not cheap ones either. You know I've spent in what invested yes use the word invested.

I invested quite a bit money over the years in the technology to try and improve what I do. Then I realized that the technology wasn't a problem it was the content. So I if I can I mean I've got a YouTube channel it's been there a couple of years now.

I haven't really given it much attention. I get I think I get about a thousand views a month. So you know it's not there's not much going on in reality.

Let's have a look let's have a look YouTube let's see if it'll let me go to the thing YouTube premium go away skip trial YouTube studio okay views the last 28 days 1.3 thousand views watch time in minutes 35,000 0.6 subscriber change 14 plus so I've had 14 increases. What's the total subscribers then oh 530 subscribers. So the YouTube channel is Jason Newland free did I say Newland Jason Newland free hypnosis service 530 subscribers.

And basically what I do I post I post my podcasts on there. Which is really not great in a sense of they're not videos if I've got a few messages should I read these out. This is from Rebecca I've been listening this is on YouTube I've been listening to your podcast on Spotify for a while now and they have been so helpful to me.

I've only just discovered your YouTube account and have to say I thought Andre was a cat brilliant brilliant he's so lovely and thank you for helping me to sleep better that is funny. So a while back not that not too long ago I removed most of the videos from YouTube and especially the ones that no one was list no one was watching I mean it's there's so many from past I had I think like 1400 videos and I took most of them off. I just left the ones that were the most popular and I even took off I think most of the podcast ones as well that didn't have me actually on there talk you know with my face on there for the video.

Whether I should have done that I don't know but it was for me it was like it's the it's the past you know stuff's gone and trying to focus on what I'm doing now. I guess I'd like the YouTube channel to represent that as well. So I'm planning I'm planning planning planning to be making videos of the recordings I do.

So when I make a well for example this I'll make this recording I'll do it as a podcast I'll have all the setup for that microphone and all that stuff but then I'll also have a camera filming me and I will just do those two things separate so the camera will be depending yeah I could maybe try and have the same sound use the same sound but the camera sound should be good quite good.

So there's a few things I need to do to get that into operation and the next thing I need to do is get myself that microphone the decent one specifically for podcasting and then I'm looking at getting the mixing desk which should produce better quality it will just sound better because I'll be able to make it sound better as I'm doing it you know and so it records at a higher level and cuts out background you know so it should be a much better quality sound and then I'm looking there's this there's a camera I

want to get which is specifically for YouTube and the microphone is supposed to be really good like really good microphone on it so if that's the case what I will do is I'll set that up here record myself or video myself there and also record the audio for the podcast so there'll be two things going on at the same time quite a bit more work to do admittedly so a few days ago from the catalog I got myself a PC because however lovely it is having an iPad it's so limited it's ridiculous how limited it

is especially when it comes to for me video editing is just I just don't think it's really compatible I can do some audio editing in fact I'm quite happy with the audio editing that I do on the iPad and it's good for recording I like the yeah I like the iPad for recording stuff so that's good so I could do some things on the iPad and but I needed an actual computer an actual PC I was going to get a laptop and I thought you know what I could get a better PC for less money

so I needed at least eight gigabytes at the very least in order to run the software that I'm going to need to run it's a much bigger screen which with my eyesight is useful just that's one thing I do miss is because now I've got um I don't know what it is I think it might be 32 inch screen was it 25 inch screen I don't know but it's huge compared to the iPad screen and I can share what's on the iPad onto that screen as well so it's good I can use the screen as

a screen for whatever I'm using and it's just so much easier to share files to move files around than with the iPad so I can share the files to um um I don't know whatever box it is because um I've subscribed to the Microsoft monthly package which gets lets you use everything you know all the words all the different things and with that comes storage so I'm going to start using that um as the storage so I can store stuff on the iPad or my phone and then it'll be there so I can open it

up on the PC and I can start using that to edit and I'm also going to sign up soon with the Adobe package which is basic it lets they used I've got some Adobe I've got Adobe stuff I think I yeah I do yeah the yeah I do Adobe you used to basically sell discs you know sell you the software you get it you put a disc into the computer with a laptop download the stuff and then you know that's kind of how most software was but now I mean there is no where to put

a disc in this PC so it's not a laptop but even though some laptops don't have the option anymore to put CDs in so it's you know things are changing and what Adobe does now is they do it by subscription so you can pay monthly and it lets you I mean you can have an individual package so if you want just the Photoshop or if you want the After Effects or if you want to use the video editing where you've got quite a few different video editing suites for different things then you can do that

you can just rent that monthly but for £49 a month you can rent and subscribe and have access to all of their stuff which is what I'm going to be doing so which means I will be able to do more editing maybe especially with the videos I need to make the videos look good use Photoshop to make the thumbnails good just little things like that and to improve the quality of what I do I know the most important thing is the content you know but I also I don't want to be left behind with other

people that are just so you know got much better visually you know with I don't know just I want to be able to compete with that and what I've noticed is I'm very interested in the Adobe suite I've been watching quite a few videos on YouTube even though I've not even got it yet um I think I've got the bug for it I've kind of that looks really interested I'm interested in doing that and learning how to do that as I am with the audio recording I'm starting to get a little bit more interested in

the process and how I can really make a better job of it yeah so that's it so that's that's where I am with this stuff hello Andre hello Andre hello Andre oh that's a nice big squirt lovely wonderful oh you know what I got through the post yesterday technically it wasn't through the post it was package I've got a gate a pet gate now for years Andre has been going to the toilet near the front door it's on paper you know it's not not just do it on the carpet usually but nevertheless I open the

front door and it's the first thing people see is you know paper everywhere and it's a it's gross I don't like it it's annoys me it's annoyed me for ages I've got a carpet cleaner and everything I clean the carpet and I try and keep it tidy but it's impossible because that's where he likes to go well I've got a gate now so I'm going to put a gate in a hallway so he can't get to the front door hmm he hasn't seen it yet he doesn't know and he will not be happy he won't

be even though you have the whole flat to play in just that one little bit of hallway it will annoy him that he can't get to it and I can foresee that he will really make a fuss and he'll be smashing himself against the fence having a tantrum scratching against it all kinds of stuff I also foresee that he'll probably end up doing poos in front of the fence just to spite me seriously I'm not even joking I can see I see that that's a possibility um little bugger he is he does that in the

bedroom sometimes if I lock it because if my friend's dog comes up here I have to put him in the bedroom I have to put Andre in the bedroom because because Andre attacks the dog he bites him in his feet as he does with humans as well if if you if you come up here and your toes are out Andre will go for your toes he can't help himself it's he doesn't try and he doesn't hurt them but because his teeth are so sharp and if toes are so sensitive it it's not a good combination

and um what else what else has got to be something else oh yeah when I put him into the bedroom sometimes sometimes he's fine you know I put him in uh wrap him up in the bed clothes and he's happy he goes to sleep other times I'll hear him scratching at the door uh you know so sometimes I'll open the bedroom door when the dog's gone Andre will be fast asleep in the bed sometimes he'll run out of the out of the bedroom you know he's been waiting to get out sometimes I open the door

really quiet and he really slowly now because in the past he's fallen asleep waiting to get out and sometimes he does a big poo right in front of the door so that when I open it it spreads all over the carpet he does that honestly he does it on purpose it's not an accident he does it on purpose he does it on purpose he really honestly if I give him a bath let's say if I gave him a bath right now he would do something in retaliation he would you're just putting human emotions onto an

animal no I'm telling you what he's like he'll do something I mean sometimes what he'll do is he'll just I've given him a bath in the past he will jump onto my bed soak him wet and spread that water and that wetness all over the bed other things he'll do is knock stuff over he'll just randomly walk to play knock stuff over broom knock that over he'll just knock stuff off any flat surface it'll just remove everything that he can sometimes he's more blatant he just walk up to me bite me and run away honestly

he does not like having baths or in the past he's gone into the kitchen and just emptied everything out of the cupboard onto the floor or he'll leave a few little gifts somewhere where he doesn't normally do it like in the kitchen so he's a very vindictive not Vin Diesel vindictive Vin Diesel that's not a real name is it Vin Diesel brilliant name but it's not real is it bloodshot if you if you if you fancy a night just a bit of fun bloodshot is a really good film good movie it's uh Van Diesel Vin

Diesel Van Damme Dom Diesel Diesel yeah it's silly but it's good at the same time and also has a twist to it which i like i like that when something's it shows that put some effort into it because i see some movies and it's almost just like they're really i think the um what are the other films that Vin Diesel are in the the driving really fast sports car ones and for me they're just i've got a real dislike for those kinds of movies generally i think it's the i'm just getting old i guess it's

the irresponsibility of it is knowing that there's going to be a percentage of that audience getting into their car after watching it thinking that they are in a sports car or in a really expensive fast car and you see them we all see them don't we racing up and down and it's yeah it's i wouldn't mind i don't mind if people just put themselves in danger i don't mind that so much you know like i think kind of like an american one and it's always like uh it always seems to be an area where there's

no cars and there's no one around so there's no one can no one to get injured other than the people in the cars themselves and it doesn't really matter about them so so wow wow now i'm in a little tiny country there is nowhere that you can race a car safely apart from you know on a racetrack and we do have racetracks here but the roads are not built for racing even the motorways really i mean yeah the motorways are probably a better place to do it but it's there's yes you shouldn't but it's you

know if there was ever a place a motorway would be the place to do something like that but not on a normal road a normal road a normal road i'm basically a pensioner just moaning those young people i wonder if my i wonder if my voice will get really high pitched when i get older oh i've had enough of this i wonder if it's gonna snow snow you know uh apparently is it this weekend yeah last weekend we're supposed to get some snow nothing this weekend everywhere but where i live it's gonna get snow it's

got colder i mean today oh i can feel it already and it's what 10 past six in the morning i can't proper feel it it's cold out there it's not particularly warm in here either but it's proper killed and supposedly you get snow snow coming at the weekend it's friday now but whether we'll get anything here i don't know i'd love to i'd love love to get some snow here i'd love i mean proper oh oh i'd love it i'd love a bit of snow little bit of snow oh yeah i really do i love

that snow oh yeah bit of snow i do i realized i was talking to my friend the other day and i said you know what when it was snowing probably about a month ago maybe longer maybe less i don't know i lose track but i felt good i mean genuinely um i drew the curtains open you know because that's when i realized it was snowing but i drew the curtains open i pulled the neck curtains too so um right to the middle so both of the windows i've got quite big windows i'm not bragging um

yeah it's quite a lot of length and girth so i'm pulling pushing the neck curtains together and opened the windows and just let the air in and i could see the snow falling oh it was a it was a visual delight in fact i think quite a few of my senses were stimulated in a good way it was lovely absolutely loved the snow and because i live where i live in south the south part of the country southeast i don't associate snow with christmas because i never get snow at christmas generally i've never woken up

i've never seen snow falling on a christmas morning or christmas day but there has been snow on the ground which is pretty amazing it's lovely but i've never seen snow falling actually on christmas day but if if i lived somewhere maybe scotland or wales or i don't know there's loads of different places in there where it's proper snowy over christmas then i would associate snow with christmas i mean i do associate snow with christmas on a level of christmas cards you know that kind of stuff but my association with christmas is just i prefer snow

rather is happiness a real real lift yeah it just feels really nice it's almost like an excitement excitement and i love i love the snow i really do initially yeah being caught out in it isn't always great i remember one about 2010 10 2010 yeah 2010 roughly i was waiting in the snow so i just finished a counselling session in the evening at the uh charity that i used to work at so i just finished counselling and i was standing opposite at the bus stop waiting for a bus as you do and it was proper

snowing but really really really thick which in most other circumstances i would have been i'd have had a semi you know i'd have been very happy but in this instance i lived it was a 50 minute walk on normal ground to get home and that's walking quite fast to try and do that in the snow that's a lot it's just too much of a journey and not especially with thickness of the snow i don't know if i'd have just got i turned into i don't know i felt like i would have just turned into a

snowman it was that kind of i'd have just i'd be like the tin man from the wizard of oz just get stuck you know but i look a bit like a snowman my nose definitely looks like a carrot so i'm quite lucky like that thanks dad um i don't know it's i just love the snow love the snow yeah makes me happy there's something special about it i don't know what it is i don't know it freshens the air mind you so does cold that's one of the good things about i remember used to i

had lots of different jobs in the past and a lot of them have been like early morning starts getting up early in the morning walking to work and the bitterness you know basically from september onwards really but especially like around november december january february and it's like oh it's proper proper cold but it's nice in some ways because i went from being half asleep stepping outside being fully awake instantly and i noticed that here sometimes i get really tired because i'm just sitting here in the with the heat on heating on so i open the

windows let a bit of cool air in i had the window open most of the time when i'm awake anyway it might even be open now i don't know now andre i believe he does stuff like that anyway i'm going to go thank you for listening remember to be kind to yourself because that window can't be open because it wouldn't linger not all i have a little window in a minute uh yeah remember to be kind to yourself because you deserve to be happy bye bye oh what sticks oh have you eaten a skunk oh
