Hello and welcome to jasonnewland.com. My name is Jason Newland and this is Let Me Bore You To Sleep. Please only listen when you can safely close your eyes. What time is it? 13th? No, it's the 15th.

It's the 14th, isn't it? Today is Saturday the 14th of November. 2020 and I've got quite a bit done today. Not recording wise but um you may be happy, you may not be happy to know that I am going to be making more recordings soon.

I'm going to be increasing my output. And part of the reason I haven't, okay one of the most, one of our most popular podcasts is the Deep Sleep Whisper Hypnosis and you know I generally make one perhaps once a week instead of every day like I used to do them every day. And another one is the Sleep Hypnosis Weekly which I haven't done a new one for probably two weeks.

Those two particular podcasts I need to do them when there's you know as little background sound as possible and it's very difficult to get that at the moment. And I'm not up all night like I used to be so it was a little bit easier before when I was you know up until seven o'clock in the morning. So I would be making recordings through the night.

Now I'm not doing that so much these days. I'm usually in bed by two or three and sometimes earlier because I normally get up about 6.30 in the morning seven in the morning and you know I've got a weird kind of sleeping habit at the moment which is okay it's okay I don't mind. I sleep like a ferret and by that I don't mean I cuddle up so my nose is basically in my bum like Andre.

How he can sleep like that? Honestly his nose is like less than an inch away from his thing. I mean come on that's gotta be... but he seems comfortable. I took a picture of him earlier and it's really cheeky he's on the bed laying on the bed with his tongue sticking out at me.

So he's not asleep or anything he's literally just got his tongue out. Cheeky little monkey. So it's quite you know it's late at night so I'm pretty much tired.

Yeah I'm ready to go to sleep now really. However I got this shed which I bought and paid to get it put up. So altogether it cost me about 350 pound in buying it getting it delivered getting it put up.

I paid someone to do that plus another hundred pound hundred and fifty pound for the what's it the soundproofing maybe a hundred hundred yeah plus other stuff that I spent to try and soundproof it. So let's say 500 pound and it's basically just been used as a toilet for Andre for the last few months. Which I've not been a big fan of.

It's only when he can't be bothered to sort of because he's been sleeping in the covering which covers the doorway. He's been sleeping in those there's a bit of thing like a throw that he sleeps in. That's removed now anyway.

So basically I started using it and it was too hot. And when I started using it I was using the little microphone the lapel microphone which wasn't very good. As you know what you may know I've been using the Rode microphones for about two months three months which are much better quality sound.

But they don't fit into the shed. I tried to do it try to fit it in because with the mic there's the focus right mixer desk thing and I need the iPad and all that stuff. Headphones to check the the level before I start.

And it's a five by five by three size three foot wide five foot tall or five foot long rather I thought that would be big enough and to be fair I couldn't have fitted a bigger shed in my bedroom without it really being in the way. You know there's plenty of room in the bedroom for that shed plus a double bed and to be able to get in you know there's no you haven't got to squeeze between them or anything. There's plenty of room.

If the shed had been bigger it would have been yeah a bit a little bit too cumbersome but I started thinking it's too it's it's too small inside really for equipment. It's too hot inside to sit in there for any length of time. But the sound quality is it's quieter in there it is you know soundproofed it's not silent at all but the soundproofing is better than in here for example although I've got a lot of soundproofing on the walls in here in the living room but it's a bigger room.

So I thought shall I get rid of the of the shed tell someone they can sell it and keep it just take it down take it away and don't ever knock on my door again. I obviously wouldn't put it like that but then I started to think happens occasionally don't like it when it happens but sometimes it happens and they can't do anything about it.

I started thinking about vocal booths that I've seen people use in films on tv shows where it was a recording studio but it would be almost do you know those old-fashioned changing racks where you see in the old movies and that a lady or a man would go behind it and it'd be getting changed while someone else was in the room and you'd see them put their y-fronts and their brassiere and their hat or whatever over the front over the top of it and and then there'd be a mirror in their place so that the person who's not supposed to be seeing everything can can see it and it's great.

Of course it was me behind there and the mirror would probably uh we'd want to move the mirror wouldn't you away so that you couldn't see so it's kind of that kind of thing but a bit smaller and a bit more compact with soundproofing on the inside but there's nothing on top and there's nothing you know there's a bit of it isn't covered and you can also got and i've got one it's a it's like a microphone booth and it's it's not big but it's quite heavy actually it's a good one had a few years

and you can put basically you put it onto you put it somewhere and then you put the microphone basically inside of it so it covers the sides of the microphone so that it only picks up the sound of what's going in in front of it i think this makes sense so i started thinking about that these i think they're condenser microphones the road microphones so they do focus on what's right in front of them which is me i'm not like i'm not right in front not like this because that'd be very uncomfortable to do this

kind of recording like that or any recording really if i'm sort of leaning forward it's an uncomfortable position to be in and i started to think well i like making the let me boy to sleep recordings in the living room i like doing the sleep hypnosis like the relaxation hypnosis of sleep anxiety and panic attacks in the living room as well because some of those are me talking about a subject or a technique you know stuff like that and the only thing i need to do in those situations is remove andre move into a different

room but i can't do the whisper ones here or sometimes i can but it's it's a case of grabbing the moment and i'd rather be a bit more organized than that than just waiting for the right moment to do it and i'd like to do this sleep hypnosis week uh sleep hypnosis deeply is that's what they're called and the sleep hypnosis weekly deep sleep whisper hypnosis and sleep hypnosis deeply those two podcasts i like to do them more regularly so i started to think what can i do and i've been thinking about this for over

a week i knew it was going to take effort to actually do it i knew it's going to take physical effort and a bit of motivation and quite a bit you know there's a lot involved and also the living room's been messy and my exercise bike is not being used because being the other side of the room so i tidied this room up there's still a bit left to do but it's predominantly tidied now i've got the i've got a table to the left of the chair and i've got a table to the right i've

got a microphone on the stand just to the right of me the table to the right i've got the ipad and the mixer desk thing so that all fits just fine just there and i can put stuff on the left hand side the left table and i've got the other table just over there so there's no wires reaching through um they can get so it's a trip up a little bit everything's a bit self-sufficient now and health and safety wise better andre's still got his play area behind me he's still got his um going to

the toilet area over there which he still uses and there's another little one on the other side of the room he still uses which is brilliant that's got all um cat litter down he goes there now doesn't do it on carpet anymore he doesn't want to he wants to do it there because that's where he can that's just he's got used to it the smell it's i don't know why i didn't think about it a long time ago i tried to get him to do it in you know with cat litter into an actual cat

tray you know but he wouldn't but as long as there's a space big enough for him so he doesn't have to go in a tiny little area he likes to have choice he likes to have a bit of space which he does he's got you know a nice little area there and also he used to have cat litter at the bottom of his cage so he's used to going to the toilet on cat litter i mean for sometimes he'd actually go into the cage to go to a toilet if the cage was in the living

room but he doesn't live in the cage anymore he sleeps out here hasn't been in hasn't lived in a cage for a long long time so so the living room is sorted the exercise bike is now exactly where it needs to be and where it's going to stay it's in a perfect spot because i can watch television and use the exercise bike at the same time although i was sweating so much uh i couldn't see much out my eyes but it's okay yeah i think i lost 500 calories it's a yay i don't know how

many uh mouthfuls of coca-cola that is but it's a start it's a start it's 500 calories more than i would have lost if i hadn't got on the bike that's how i see it and i'm not a big i'm not a big fan of rushing into things and going all out not when it comes to exercise um because it's okay with muscles you know what's that noise i think it's him so i could um i could lift the weights and just do curls with the weights my arms and do it to the point where my

arms are absolutely just red hot you know with pain and then stop and then the next two or three days not be able to do anything with the arms which is okay because i don't really need my arms i can still do stuff but you know it just hurts i don't want to do that with um the exercise bike yeah i don't want to do it so my muscles are hurting or so that i'm out of breath or anything like that i just want to do it nice and easy i've got it in quite a

high setting actually near one of the highest settings it can be on because i'm not i think i'm doing 16 either 16 miles an hour or 16 16 kilometers an hour i don't know so i'm not you know i'm going steady and i just want to take it easy with it build it up gradually build up my fitness gradually with the weights it's okay because you know i can completely destroy the muscles in my arms and then they grow back that's how the muscle grows so not really destroy them but you know break them down

so that's okay and i've got a my sit-up abdominal board is in the bedroom so i'm looking to move it into here there's not enough room in the bedroom for it so i'm not sure exactly where i'm going to place it i'm going to start doing sit-ups every day as well maybe first thing in the morning when i wake up maybe do some press-ups as well and i've got a weight board as well now so that's which means i can do bench presses all kinds of exercises that i couldn't do before now on this bench

so all around i've got a little fitness thing i've got my punch bag of course as well so my aim is to improve my fitness gradually gradually there's no hurry i mean a doctor might disagree with you on that one you know i've had a full body scan they might say yeah i think you should uh get on with your fitness uncle jj but i know my body i know i know how it works and i know just like my brain my body everything i don't do quick i don't do fast i don't i don't

rush sometimes i rush but generally i don't unless i have to when i have to i can you know i don't run for buses but when i have to i can i might end up coughing for the next two hours but forgetting that i can do it and that's the thing with my lower back i can i can lift just as much as i ever could probably not as regularly to be fair but like the one-off lifting i can do that but i feel it afterwards so that's what part you know my lower back's really

been a problem uh the last few years and and when i get deliveries food deliveries there's a lot of bending over picking up stuff because they don't come in carrier bags anymore so i have to i have to actually bend over pick them up put them into my own carrier bags and then um it's it's like i'm delivering it to myself almost and once the delivery's done and i've put the stuff away i have to lay down because of my back just for my back to sort of rest because that's the only thing that seems

to help it to sort of ease very strange so i'm hoping i mean generally hoping the the exercise bike with the weights will help the punch bag doesn't see it doesn't seem to be of any use as far as my back goes because i've been punching on the punch bag for years it doesn't seem to help my back even though there's a lot of twisting and stuff still doesn't seem to help so i'm hoping that the the weights and the fat loss around my belly will put less pressure it'll take the pressure off of my

back so maybe i'll have less pressure on my back and it won't it won't feel the way it did my back will be stronger because of the training my stomach will be stronger because of the training and cardiovascularly with the bike i can burn off the calories that's kind of my plan it's a slow plan but i'd like if i can to be able to walk down the street if i wanted to without a top on if i wanted to you know i won't i won't it's not something that i've done since i was a

small child but if i wanted to do that i'd like to be able to does that make sense so i could have done it when i was a teenager i could have done it when i was in my 20s because i was slim i could have done it all the way up to the age of 31 i could have done it again when i was 30 when i was whistly could have done it when i was 34 because i lost weight then i could have done it when i was 40 because i lost weight then

again and i was quite muscular and probably 43 because i was doing quite doing weights in a punch bag again so i'd lost probably slimmed down a bit but since then yeah i've lost a couple of years although i think a couple of years ago i did lose a little bit of weight and then i just went back on again or i lost some inches mind you i'm thinking about being rude if i can lose some inches i might actually gain an inch or two you know um or at least be able to see parts

of me that i can't see at the moment so that might be good so that's the plan anyway i know i went off off topic slightly so what i'm thinking i'm pleased with how the living room's going there's still a lot to do i have to put the weight bench up because it's it has to be assembled and i'm gonna possibly approach that either tomorrow or monday but what i've done is i have today i took the roof off of the shed you did what yeah you heard right i removed the roof from the shed

bearing in mind it was nailed down so i basically had to rip it off with my hands i did i just pushed pushed it and then it came off i felt like the hulk and i didn't so that came off the walls of the walls are very wobbly now you know they're they are attached to each other but it's no way can i lean against any of the walls because it will just probably fall down and you probably you might be thinking what are you doing that for well first of all i can't sit in

it because it's too hot so i have to have air coming into it and the only way i can have air going into it is by taking the top off or i guess you know drilling holes in it and stuff which i just didn't want to do so i just took the top off which means the inside i've now put carpet down or carpet tiles on the inside the floor the inside walls are all covered in what's it soundproof as was the roof to be fair the roof was completely covered so that's five by three

five foot by three foot so there's one two we've got eight eight strips of soundproofing on there which is okay so but i'm gonna have to get rid of that somewhere i have to google fly tipping by jr hartley so that's a that's a reference that most people won't recognize yeah fly tipping by jr hartley could you order that book for me yeah fly tipping by jr hartley yes sir certainly i can what's your name jr hartley very famous um advert for the yellow pages i think it was those were the days eh long before

the internet jr fartley so i took there was loads of stuff on top of that on top of the shed clothes pillows toilet rolls clean clean toilet rolls toilet rolls i just thought of course they're clean and so what it ended up is my whole bed was full of stuff and all on the floor everything so i ended up having to put stuff into bags stuck out for the rubbish so i've ended up about five bags of rubbish so far from today there's still one in the kitchen and there's still probably a couple more bags

to fill as well and eventually i thought okay so i put something in this furniture in there which was to hold something else on so where we could put where i could put the ipad and the mixer and the microphones and i had a lamp in there and i put the lamp high up on top of there and i thought and i sat down and i thought no this is not working because i can't put the microphones either side of me so i left it for a while because i was doing other things and i

was i was taking a break between every half hour and an hour i was taking a break and then i thought hmm i'll tell you what i'm gonna do i'm gonna have i'm gonna do these recordings on one microphone each i don't need two microphones because just me if there's two voices two different people saying different things then two microphones would be needed or if we were singing so if there's two voices this was a podcast where there's another person talking and they were sitting opposite me then having their microphone it would make sense to

have a microphone near them instead of having you're trying to squash up to this one but actually the reality is i don't need two microphones to record a session so i've got this microphone here which can now stay here i don't have to move it hasn't got to go anywhere so it's absolutely happy to be here to the right of me doesn't get in the way at all i just turn it around and it's there i've got the table for the ipad and everything so that that could be i use that for food and stuff

when i'm eating or whatever when the ipad isn't on there because that stays on the table generally but now in the shed i've got the door open again for air to get in and i've changed the furniture so i've got there's a microphone so there's a there's a chair like a normal chair which i sit at when i'm at the table a wooden chair a table chair whatever you want to call it so that's in the if you go in it's on the left hand side so it's the right hand side facing the door next

to that is the microphone stand with a microphone and then next to that is a little stool where i can just put a drink or whatever you know something i can put something on so obviously you'd like to have a drink with me when i'm making a recording and then there is a what is that i forget what it is anyway there's something in there what i put in there so there's a drawers it's not the drawers is it is it yeah no no it's the tv cabinet it's a little tv cabinet that my nan

used to have see my tv's on the wall on a wall bracket so i don't need tv cabinet plus andre used to try and get in there and knock stuff off so i basically made some room you know i have well i try to have as little as possible on the floor because andre gets to it of course i've got my chair and the tables and stuff but apart from that anyway the that little cabinet i can put stuff on such as the ipad and the the focus right mixer desk thing so what i can

do is just move between so i take that unplug the microphone from here and just carry this there's only two little items to carry carry them into the shed recording studio and then i can make the as long as andre's in here i close the door i close the door in the bedroom it's all well really i can just make my recording and there may be backgrounds sounds but it's very minimum very minimum because i can i can control the volume of the background with the headphones so i can control it um before i start

recording so i can listen and it just means it records at a much lower volume but then i can increase that volume anyway in the editing process so that's what i did there so i thought yeah so now i can start making other recordings and i won't be hot i won't be sweating when i'm doing it and you might think well it's winter he won't be sweating trust me it was something that shed it was just hot i'm sure it wouldn't be hot in outside but it was just something about it so apart from all

the clothes on my bed which need to go somewhere i don't know where everything else is kind of sorted out all the other mess and stuff that was on top of the shed is now being sorted pretty much and because it hasn't got a lid on anymore a lid you know the shed the light from the room shines in so i can see what i'm doing now not enough to read probably not enough to read i suppose if i was reading a tablet i would be okay so if i'm reading a kindle or something but

not not a book you know but there's enough light in there for me to i wouldn't be able to cut my toenails you know it's not i like really close stuff um removing a splinter probably from my bum i would you know it'd be hard to do that in that light not a good light for surgery that's what i'm saying it's not not excellent light but it's light enough to get around without you know banging stuff although i keep banging my head on the door not on the top of the the doorway because i haven't

been in there for so long i keep forgetting because the door's not tall enough for me because the the way it goes down yeah it goes down slants down a bit so the the door is probably about five foot so if i'm banging my head it's probably about five foot six and i'm five foot eight so i'm just a little bit too tall for the for the door so you know you have to but i can stand upright in the shed just well now wouldn't matter if i was seven foot tall because no there's no

uh top to it andre's been in there he's i sometimes think he's planning stuff i'm pretty sure i heard him because he was in there sniffing around looking because it's all new in there now it's all kind of changed and he looked at me and i'm pretty sure under his breath he said i'll wait till he's not around then i'll do it i thought did i hear right i'll wait till he's not he's not around that's rude isn't it so i have no idea what he's got planned but you know he's gonna do what he's

gonna do i guess so i'm quite pleased with that because it is soundproofed but it's not soundproof and it's almost like uh the equivalent to having a a vocal booth in a sense you know so it would be less there'll be less background sound than there would be here if there was stuff going on and then something else happened and i thought wonder if there's a a decent microphone for the iphone like a decent microphone not not the lapel microphones which i liked to start with but ended up that they were not great quality in

the end but they were good they were better than what i had and now that i've in you know improved this quality sound i don't want to go backwards so i've been doing some research today as well on the best the best microphone that i can get that it can be attached to the iphone and i found one and this is by reviews not just by you know it's it took a while i've been looking for a while in the past and i decided not to do that because of the cost really but i found

one and it's just under 170 pound now i wasn't gonna buy it okay because i don't have 170 pound but i'll put it into my basket because i decided i am going to get it i'm going to save up because what the benefit of that will be is i can have that well i could either have yeah i can have that in the shed okay the studio i'll have that just there it takes up a tiny amount of room pretty much no room at all it doesn't need to have a microphone stand it's got a

tiny little stand it can be attached to a bigger mic stand but basically everything is you know it's a it's a there's a connector for the phone a connector and the microphone connects to the phone and it can just stand there so all i would need was would be the something kind of my head level to the side of me which i've got and i wouldn't need anything more than that if it's good quality i've got the recording software that i paid for which i've been using for a month or two now which i'm happy

with i've got that on my phone as well so i could record on my phone with that recorder with the microphone it's also the microphone's got i'm not sure if it comes with headphones but it's got a headphone jack which means i could then listen and do the check the sound the same way as i do with the ipad and i thought yeah i'll save that until i've got enough money so maybe at the end of the month i might try and get it when i went to the basket it said that i could pay

for it over five months i could do it in installments which amazon has never offered me to do before on a catalog yeah but um the catalogs generally don't sell microphones and stuff like that it's more practical stuff like clothes i get my exercise equipment from there but amazon's a place i normally get the technology apart from the ipad and the other tablet as well i got that from the catalog so i thought my headphones i got from the catalog all the microphones i got from the cat from amazon rather all the microphones i got

from amazon the mixing desk from amazon all that stuff various cameras and stuff over the years over the 15 years that i've been on net and uh i thought to hell with it why not it's letting me pay 33 pound a month or something no it's not right is it 37 pound i don't know whatever it is i didn't work it out but basically 169 pound or something divided by five and then they said yeah and just no credit check nothing i'm gonna been accustomed with theirs of theirs for blimey 2004 at least so 16

years and i said blimey i can't even imagine the amount of money i've spent over the years but so i should have it on monday this new microphone and if it works and if it works really well if it works really well what i might do is get another one for in here for the ipad so that i don't in fact in fact i could just i don't need to what i've got to do i could just carry it from one room to the other it's got something wrong with me isn't there it's a handheld

device which you can pick up and you can film you can make videos because it's handheld so you got your camera well the phone and the microphone so you could do a self a video or you can put it on a table in front of you or put it to the side of you you know if it's or you can just record audio which is what i'll be doing that's laziness isn't it i spent another 169 pound so i don't have to actually carry it from one room to the other wow wow so that comes

on monday i kind of would prefer just to leave it i know it sounds strange maybe uh yeah maybe just record everything on there but this part be quite likes to set up i've got in here it feels quite professional you know with the hub and with the microphone connected in and a mixer and all the other little bits and bobs connected to the ipad and the big screen and i can see the my voice you know the rising and whatever you know on the screen i don't know what the correct terminology is for that

and uh so what that'll do is it means i'll be able to use my phone instead of the ipad and i'll be able to use the little microphone which is on it goes on top of the phone you know on the that's how it's all kind of bracketed together if you know what i mean so you've got the a little tripod with three legs and you've got the the bracket for the phone and then on top of that you've got the connection where where the microphone is and it just plugs into the phone that means

there'll be more room in the shed and i won't be squashed in and because at the moment the microphone just the legs of the microphone are taking up quite a bit of room because they're spread out and then to keep moving the ipad and the and i somehow just said that i'm lazy not wanting to walk between room and room but it's the whole setup process of moving it and then setting it up again and listening to it and it's it's quite time consuming it would be much better to have it all set up ready

for me to record you know just go in there and put the phone in and if it works really well on the phone then i won't i'll probably stop using this microphone stop using the the long ones you know the ones on the long mic stands and i'll stop using the ipad and the mixer for recording and i use the ipad for the editing because once i've recorded it on the phone i'll upload it and be saved and i'll be able to get access to it on the ipad then i can edit and do what

i need to do so this might end up being a nice move forward might not you know it's 170 pound risk but the way i see it is this the microphones the microphone i'm buying is more expensive than the microphone i'm using now that's how i see it so this this microphone cost about 140 pound so the microphone i'm buying is 170 or 169 and you say yeah it's got a bracket it's got a bracket with it so you can put the iphone in and it's got a little tripod so you say okay well that's

probably 10 pound each for those little bits of plastic that's going so yeah it's still hopefully as good as long as it's as good as the sound here then that's what i'm looking for that's what i need but the only problem is yeah and think about that i might be able to adjust the sound of ingoing but i can do that with this setup that setup i might not be able to which means because at the moment you know i can turn the i can turn the setting up so that i can catch more of

the background sound why would i want to but i could which means i could catch the sound of maybe the fridge turning on and off and all that stuff and it'd be quite staticy and you could hear things but i turned i listened to the headphones before i started recording and i recorded and i listened back to it and i adjusted the setting for the input so it's just taken off that background sound but it's loud enough for me to be heard but you'll hear background sounds sort of for example andre you'll hear that kind

of stuff but the more kind of monotone general sounds won't be really particularly relevant so he's he's at the front door for some reason so yeah i'm feeling all right about this because anything that can increase the quality and also give me an option to actually produce more because at the moment it's it's very squashed in there it's very squashed in the shed with the microphone and stuff but it's doable i still it's still a doable situation but if i am able to make a nice clear recording with this new recorder without i mean to

be fair it's not going to yeah it's not going to have any kind of mixing not it's not a mixer really it's more a transformer thing i don't know whatever the thing it's called a focus right thing so like a red box which is where the microphones go into because they're proper microphones with the microphone leads so they're not usb leads or anything like that so click into that and then this um the focus right has a usb lead that comes out there that then goes into the laptop but because i've got an ipad i've

got an extension cord so the the usb goes into the extension or not extension transfer or whatever and then there's a special thing that goes into the ipad see it's much easier than like i made it sound complicated but it's not really and it all works together fine it's just a case of testing and checking it every single time every every single time needs to be checked can't just assume that it's gonna work properly or sound okay because i did that the other day and i had one that was almost like tinny tinny it was

which is okay well i had two people comment on it so i guess it wasn't really but it's if i spend an hour making a record and i don't i don't really want to just get rid of it you know i mean of course if it was like cutting off and hello today well only listen close your eyes you know if it was that kind of terrible quality then yeah i'd just have to dump it and i have in the past i've made loads of recordings that came out quality-wise really bad for some reason the

connection was loose or maybe the microphone wasn't set up properly or something that used to happen quite a lot when i because i don't use pcs anymore i don't use laptops i use the ipad but in the past i used to use audacity to record now i haven't used audacity record for years and years and years but i used to use it to edit for a long time for many years but back in just thinking how far back i'm just thinking of a time back in let's say 2010 i was on 2009 i'd record using

audacity and i'd sit here and i'd do a recording and it's like wow this is really going well it's flowing in and it's you know talking from my heart and it it's really you know so everything's going to plan let's say it's a relaxation session and i'm being all creative and like wow i like this side of me it's almost like someone else is talking for me and then i'd look over the computer or the laptop and it's frozen and i've lost everything like the whole recording or other times when i forgot to press record

when i was uh making when i was recording stuff on the tablet which i did for quite a while using the lapel microphones what i realized i could do using their i used to use their recording equipment their recording platform which is like an app i guess on the on the tablet this is Spreaker and i realized i could pause the recording while i was doing it i can do that here as well but never i've never and before that time i'd never paused the recording during the recording i just always continue and then edit

out what i don't want well a few times on the Spreaker app i would pause maybe because someone knocked on the door or i could hear someone that was about to knock on the door or Andre was doing something or i needed to go to the toilet or whatever and i got a little bit trigger happy with the old pause button i started pressing it more and more you know i wanted to cough so i'd press it and the more often i pressed the pause button the more it got to the point that i was

forgetting to unpause so i lost a few recordings because i'd only recorded maybe 16 minutes out of the hour now it doesn't happen anymore i don't press the pause button anymore unless i actually have to go and answer the door then i will pause even in sometimes i won't but part of the reason i do that is because if someone comes into my flat and they're talking to me nobody wants to be recorded and i'm not going to secretly record anybody although i wouldn't be secretly it would just be because i'd forgotten it was recording

so no one comes in there without me stopping the recording the good thing then when they're gone i continue recording again or press to unpause now with this software that i use on the ipad i don't use audacity i actually paid some software um editing recording software the good thing about this is i can pause whilst recording but i can also stop i can listen back to it and then i can just forward to the end and i continue recording again so i can continue the recording so that's that's something that i wasn't able to

do with audacity thinking about it probably was it's just different a different way of doing it maybe i don't know yeah thinking about it but i stopped using audacity because it just used to freeze and whether it was the program or whether it was the laptop i don't know either way it's just not acceptable can't have that not when it's you know especially if it's a relaxation session or you know hypnosis session that's really i put some work in not beforehand but during you know i've really kind of put some effort into making it uh

a good recording and useful unlike these unlike the let me boy to sleep ones where i put no effort in what's ever so that's it that's my that's my day that's what i've done today tomorrow i'm not going to do much but i am you know i'm working towards recording more putting more effort in and hopefully along the way helping more people which is ultimately that's the point of it so you know tomorrow will be a good opportunity to make a sleep recording a whisper recording so i'll move this equipment into there don't have to

move the mic because there's already a mic in there and set that up and maybe see what kind of quality sound i can get you know regarding background sound and stuff so that that will be interesting for me to do that i'm getting a little bit interested in the production side of things and i i never really wanted to but i found you know i found that the only way that i can improve the sound of the podcasts and of my recordings is by actually learning some stuff which i have and also getting decent equipment

using decent equipment including fine you know researching so i got these microphones by researching them i got the focus right mixer thing by researching i got the app i found the app that i use the recording and editing app by lots and lots of research tested and i used quite a few to find the right one and now i know my way around that app pretty well took a while it did take a while but now i wouldn't say i'm a whiz on it but pretty much seem to be fairly good generally which is what

you can really hope for in it i guess my i'm starting to think you know so like background music perhaps i could start to produce my own music for background of some of my recordings which for me i need to get a keyboard and it'd be kind of basic but a lot of music is basic repetitive you know a bunch of chords a bit and bits of d d d d d d d d d i really don't know and i do have a background of music in this i mean i know it's a long

long time ago but you know i used to play the violin i used to play the bugle used to play the drums and i used to play the glocking spill and i learned a little bit of keyboard and i learned a little bit of um guitar as well i've had quite a few different guitars so i learned you know basic basic stuff on the guitar so i'm not completely musically illiterate you know i used to be able to read music can't now but i used to be able to because you can't play the violin without

reading music you know you know when you're at school you don't get taught to play the violin or the guitar or any of those kind of instruments from ear to ear in the sea cadets you do i learned to play the bugle not from music but just from ear by just listening and just copying i got to learn to play the drums by just copying and i was competent with both of those because i used to go marching in the street with the sea cadets and i was as good as anyone else or maybe not

as good as anyone else but i was you know i could hold my own the glocking spill is the worst one because it's very loud and the glocking spill plays when nothing else is playing and i think sometimes i was the only one playing it and it's again you're playing by ear you learn by ear with them at school it was you know when i was how old was i nine i was nine years old when i learned the violin and i kind of wish i'd sort of kept it really because you think you do

something at the age of nine imagine how good i'll be now at 5 33 i'll be wow wow i'll be pretty good by now yeah just jason and his little fiddle be a great little fiddler i could be busking couldn't i be i could be spare change spare change oh i do like the sounds of violin so not when i was playing it but you know generally violins like a cello as well i do like the deepness of a nice cello yeah all right that's it that's all for me for today thank you very much

for listening so thank you have a great weekend i still got a whole day left of the weekend and remember to be kind to yourself because you deserve to be happy lots of love bye
