Hello and welcome to let me for you to sleep. My name is Jason Newland. Please only listen when you can safely close your eyes.
I'm glad that you are listening. So, hello. I should have prepared that.
I should have rehearsed it. I should have worked on it first. Never mind.
So, hello. Welcome to let me for you to sleep. Hope you're well.
And it is four minutes to 10 in the evening on Monday the 21st of September 2020. So, here we are. I've been in bed most of the day.
Well, not most of the day, on and off. And one of the problems, I've mentioned this before, so but you know, this might be your first time of listening. You may never have, you might not remember me saying it before.
But part of the reason, and again, I don't know why this is funny, but part of the reason I, I avoid getting too involved in the website stuff is because I get, I don't want to use the word addicted, but I get caught up in it. Like really, really caught up in it. Super focused, to the point of not really wanting to do anything else.
Now, I'm not as bad as I used to be, you know, back in the day, back in the day, 20 years ago, when I was first learning to build websites, I'd even forget to eat. You know, I was spending 16 hours a day, constantly working on how to learn and how to build websites. So, you know, there is, I'm not in that state of mind anymore.
To be fair, I think I was going through a bit of a manic stage, or mildly manic. Where I had huge amounts of energy, no need for sleep. So actually, it's probably more like 18, 19 hours a day that I was working on it.
Just that, and I did have breaks for cups of tea. I used to quite like a nice cup of tea with scones, not scones, crumpets, I nearly said trumpets. No, the trumpets came after the crumpets.
And I can't remember that time, 2000. And I remember one of my favorite things, I can hear a plane going by, one of my favorite things, early hours of the morning, there used to be live wrestling, like a live wrestling show, you know, the big WW, WWF, it used to be, didn't it? Now it's WWE, but at the time, it's WWF. And they were took to court, and they had to change it to WW, well, they had to stop using WWF, because of the World Wildlife Fund.
Like anybody in the whole world would actually get those two mixed up. I mean, really, if someone got muddled up between a wrestling organization and the World Wildlife Fund, then they shouldn't be allowed in society, should they, surely? You know, how could you get, really, really? How could you get confused between the two? It's very different things. But the silly WWF seems to think that they, for some reason, have, how can you, how can anyone say that they own three letters in a row? It's the alphabet, whether they own the alphabet? No, they don't.
What is that sound? There's a lot of air activity right now. It's just like CBT. CBT is, it's a few things, but no one's sort of claimed it to be their own.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, CBT. But CBT is also the motorbike test in the UK. In fact, it's probably lots of different things.
There is one, I'm laughing, because I can't tell you what it is. But let me have a look. If I just put in CBT, CBT in, I'll come and get my glasses off.
I'll put my proper glasses on so I can actually see the screen. Okay. So first of all, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy comes up.
And then down, Motorcycle Training Centers. So CBT is for that. CBT Motorcycle and Moped Training.
Basically, it stands for Compulsory Basic Training. So let's see if there's more results. Hello, Andre.
How are you? Now, there is another CBT. Again, it's basically, and I think I was at my dad's house and I was going to be learning CBT. And my stepmom, I was going on her computer.
And I was saying, this is what I want to learn. Because I wanted, I've learned hypnosis. I learned NLP.
I've also done different therapies, reflexology, massage, things like that. Reiki, I've done that. I want to learn CBT.
So I put in, this is a long time ago. This is back for 15, 16, 17 years ago. And I put in CBT into Google.
And if there's kids listening, please get them to put their fingers over their ears or whatever, just for two seconds. You ready? What came up was a big page with a picture, a description and an image. And it was cock and ball torture.
I kid you not. Okay, the kids can now have their eyes open, ears open or whatever. I couldn't believe it.
And there's my stepmom standing behind me. And she said, you want to learn that? The thing is, back then, the internet wasn't very quick. So I plugged it in.
I put in CBT, and I'm just waiting for the page to upload. So far, all I've seen is a bit of red. I didn't realize it was going to be blood.
So I'm looking back at her, talking to her, and she's looking at the screen. She's saying, so that's what you want to learn, is it? I said, yeah. I didn't realize what was on the screen at the time.
And she said, so what made you want to do that? I said, I don't know. It's just, I think after seeing you and my dad get together and hear you two together, you know, when I've been in the bedroom and, you know, staying here and hear you and him together, I've just thought I'd like to give that a go. And she said, what? And I said, no, the therapy, remember you was going to do that therapy, the talking therapy that you went to.
And that made me think that I'd quite like to give it a go. And I remember you were practicing some of the verses out of that book with dad. She said, you're talking about CBT.
I said, yeah. And she said, look at, and I looked at the screen. I thought, oh, awkward.
So I got a message from Logan Wendy Sandra. Is that a real name? Logan, Logan, Wendy Sandra. Let me have a look.
I get people add me. And I look, so the name's Logan, Logan, Wendy, Logan, Wendy, Sandra. I look at the pictures and I don't know.
I just, I don't know if it's a real person or not. It might be. Hello.
So if you are rather, hello. I get people add me on Facebook and I don't know. Sometimes I wonder, is that an actual person or not? Because someone else I added, I forget.
I've lost them now, but there's another person. This is like, I mean, some I actually knew or I'd sort of, don't add them. And a day or two later I go to see their profile and they've been taken off.
So they weren't a real person to start with. So I don't really know. It's a weird one.
Anyone, anyone, anyway, anyway, anyway, I started, I told, I mentioned that I took my website off. The one, I took all the podcasts, all the websites off, all the podcasts are still on. I just paid that.
And for some reason I'm getting charged £1.54 for the privilege of paying that bill. I'm not really sure why. So my bank balance is now minus again.
It's, it's silly. It's really silly. I don't understand it.
You have exceeded your overdraft limit. I don't have an overdraft. So minus 40 pence.
So the Spreaker worked out £55.76, which is about $72. CCCGBP55.76 and they charged me £1.53 for that. Why? Why? It's a minus 40 pence till Thursday.
And it's only Monday. It's got to be easier ways to... I'll stop moaning. I'm just moaning.
Moaning. All you do is moan. I'm not moaning.
Not really. I'm just telling you. I'm just sharing, sharing my life with you.
So I got rid of, I'll tell you the websites I got rid of. Let me have a look. Oh yeah, this would be, I'll be able to do it this way.
So I got rid of the, got rid of the Podbean podcast. So that's gone. I got rid of the other website.
So that's gone as well. So jasonnewland.com is not up. But I did pay for a new website building thing.
Then I cancelled it. And then I went back on there. And I thought, so where is it? Radio, Radio, Radio, Radio.
So I went on there, and yesterday, and today, I've been working on getting it. I'm just working on it. Basically, just working on it.
Seeing what I can do. Well, the fact is I kind of got myself a little bit attached to it and spending many, many, many, many, many hours yesterday through the night and today working on the website and I figured out a way to make it nice yet really, really, really simple but it is starting from scratch and it's going to take probably weeks and weeks and weeks, maybe months to finish it because it's such a big task and I'm wondering is it even worth it? Do I need a website? So I'm not sure but basically this website and I need to because I'm going to be duplicating the pages and then changing them a little bit.
I need to make sure that the page is exactly how I want it to be right from the start before I go any further so it's many hours of work just to work on one page to make it how I want it to be because I've made that mistake in the past and it was not so much a mistake it just it was how I wanted it then and then I wanted to change it.
But this will be just a screen and I've... bear in mind most people use the iPad, not an iPad, use a mobile phone, a mobile, a mobile phone to go to websites these days, majority. I have the stats for that and it's a high percentage and then it's tablets and then it's I don't know laptops that's in that order. Now all it will be will be the first page will be a list of my podcasts.
So the first part, Let Me Bore You To Sleep, in a table, not a table, table, you know on the screen, click on it, click on Let Me Bore You To Sleep, takes you to a list, another table with one to a hundred, two hundred and one to two hundred, etc. all the way up to 500. So I've nearly got 500.
You click on whichever one of those you want. So let's say 100 to 101, no 1 to 100, click on that and then it takes you to another one with 1 to 10, 11 to 20, whatever like that. The reason it's broken up like that is because the mobile phone screen is small and I'm not going to put lots and lots and lots of stuff on one small screen.
I want it to be it's a few clicks but it's quick, very quick and then you just and then there's when you put on like click 1 to 10, that gives you a list of 10 episodes, the description, the length, the date and then just a stream where you can just click on stream and then I'll take you to another page where you can stream it or you can download it. Underneath there's a little menu where you can go back to home, which is the main home of the website. You can go back to Let Me Bore You To Sleep home.
You can go to, you know, and then just gives you a choice of different pages to go back to in connection with the Let Me Bore You To Sleep. Very simple, very, very simple, very easy to maneuver. So I don't know.
I don't know. I didn't know. Is there any point? I'm the point for me, I was going to have each of the recordings on my website available so you can listen to them without adverts.
You could also download them. Now I'm now I'm now thinking I could have recorded five or six recordings over the last two days and still had loads of time to sleep and watch Tilly and, you know, clean out my belly button, you know, just general things I do whilst on the bus and but I don't know. It's it's a big, big undertaking and I used to love doing it.
I used to do it a lot, but then I didn't used to record as much as I do now. I used to spend way more time on the websites than I did on recordings. And it's now moved the other way.
And my other website that I had before, you know, the one that I had for quite a while was organised, really. It was all kind of up and running and done. So I don't know.
Not sure, not sure what to do. I might just leave it for a while, leave it for a few days. It's going to take, I mean, I don't know.
It's possible I could do the outline of the of the website within about a week and then go back to each page and change things. At least I could do the Let Me Bore You To Sleep part within a week. But then that's 500 pages.
That's a lot of stuff. It's just I've got to stop. Maybe if I made less recordings and spent more time on the websites, maybe that'd be better.
So I don't know. I don't know if anyone's got any ideas. You can always contact me on my fastbook.
Fastbook. Yeah. That was nice.
That was nice. I've not taken Andre out for a walk today. I just I had to, I needed to go to the garage.
But I didn't have anyone to go with. And if I've got someone to go with, I'll take Andre. Because then my friend can take, look after him outside.
But the garage, they don't like him in there. Even when he, even when he's in a bag, that is, I get a little bit of negativity energy from them. So I don't bother.
So he hasn't been out and it's too late now. I'm not taking him out in the dark. But I'll try and take him out tomorrow for a walk.
Thing is, when I want to go out, he's asleep. So when I'm thinking, okay, it's 3.30. Come on, baby, let's go for a walk. He's fast asleep.
And he doesn't want to. Oh, he's going to go, go to the toilet. Good boy.
On the paper. You are a clever boy. Yes, you are.
You're a good boy, Andre. You did a big wee wee. What's he doing? Nice.
Now I'm going to make as much noise as possible, probably. Yeah. But yeah, I'll take him out tomorrow for a walk.
But you know, sometimes I wake him up. And I take him out, I put the lead on him and he's just laying there floppy. He's awake, but he's got absolutely, it's almost like there's no energy, no electricity going from one muscle to the next.
He's just, just lying there in my arms. And then eventually he starts to wake up a bit. I'm walking towards the park and you can see he's sniffing, he's like, stick his nose in the air, sniffing around.
Oh, we're outside. And he does that sometimes when I'm on the toilet, he sticks his nose up in it. What was that stink? And anyway, he, he wakes up enough and then he, he lets me know if he wants to go down on the grass.
And he does. We have a, we have a, a very good communication on what he wants. He lets me know.
There's certain, like, I don't know what he means when he does it, or at least, at least I think I know what he means. But there's certain things that he, he lets me know when he wants to go down. It's very, you know, good at that.
And when he wants me to carry him, he just, he walks, he'll sniff around my feet or my shoes. And then he'll put his hands up against my leg and I know that he wants me to carry him. Also, when I take him in the park, when he wants to come home, he walks home.
He basically starts running towards home because he wants to get back and go back to sleep or maybe have something to eat or whatever. And he's done that a few times lately, being in the park. And he decided he wants to come home.
So I just let him do whatever he wants. If he wants to come home, let's go home. And he leads me home.
He knows, he knows the way. That's why I do wonder if he did ever get out, go for a walk. He wouldn't know the way back, but I don't know if he'd be able to get in.
Or he wouldn't be able to get in the front door. But if he was missing, well, I'd be out looking for him anyway, but I'd probably just leave the front door open. You know, let, let it, not let it, lock it, push it back.
I don't know. Make sure it's open anyway. Make sure the front door, you know, the communal area was open and I'd go looking for him.
So there's a chance he might come back and he'd just go to sleep. But if he could get into the communal area and he couldn't get upstairs, he'd be scratching at the door. And if he couldn't get in there, it'd be knocking at my friend's door downstairs.
He'd be scratching and the dog in there would be barking. And eventually, you know, my friend would probably open the door and see Andre and bring him upstairs. And that has happened before.
Long time ago, but it did happen. And I think part of the reason is because my hallway is dark. There's no windows in the hallway.
That makes sense. There's no, there's no windows in the door of my front door. It's like a completely windowless door.
Before I used to have a window in it, but then I had to have that covered up because I don't want people looking into the doorway, do you? And if that makes sense, I don't know. The, yeah, I just, I can't see. I have to turn the light on.
There's two light switches, one near the front door and one near the kitchen for the hallway area. So I generally have to switch the light on in the kitchen, near the kitchen, in order to see where I'm going to get to the front door because it is that dark. And there was a reason I was mentioning the hallway being dark.
What do you reckon it was? It was because... Oh yeah. And it's dark, which means sometimes if I've got someone at the door and they distract, I don't like being distracted. You know, I've got a certain amount of things I need to keep control of, keep, you know, not many, but things I need to look out for.
Andre's one of them. He's always, I can never know where he is. He's, you know, I've got to be careful when I'm walking around.
I can't just walk and step on a carrier bag because he might be asleep inside that carrier bag. I've trodden on him loads of times. I don't mean to, but, you know, sometimes he just does weird things.
Like I went to get into bed the other, well, this was ages ago, but a while back, I went to get into bed and I thought, I don't need my light on just to walk to my bed from the door. Because the bedroom, the kitchen's light's always on, my kitchen, the bathroom light is always on during the nighttime. And he's asleep in front of the bed or just to the side of the bed and I tread on him like, or he's asleep on the bed and I lay on him.
I just, so I can't do it anymore. I have to turn the light on in the bedroom before I can go to bed because I don't know where he's going to be. Well, you want to know why I leave the bathroom light on? Okay, let me educate you.
Let me, you won't like it. It's full of judgment. It's full of judgment.
It is. I'm going to educate you. Well, the reason why I have a, okay, let me go back.
Go back to, I've lived in so many different places during my life where I've had no control over what other people do. I had no control over the heating, when the heating comes on, no access to the kitchen at times, waiting to use the bathroom, which a lot of people do through families and stuff. But I've learned certain things.
And the one thing I learned is consideration. Now, I know I'm in the minority. I realize that.
I'm generalizing, but I'm generalizing on many, many years with hundreds of people that I've shared houses with over the years, hundreds. People go, people come, people go, I've shared buildings, I've shared, you name it. I've just so many different people.
And pretty much all of them are being inconsiderate, but not meaning to be. It's not like they're doing it purposely to sort of, they're just not thinking or not considering other people, which I'm just, I'm used to. I'm used to doing that.
I'm used to people doing that, but I don't want to be like that towards others. So I decided years ago that if I ever had my own place, I would leave the bathroom light on. So that when I need to go to the toilet, and I do, you know, I can't remember the last time I had a whole night when I slept without needing to go for a wee.
I'm talking probably the years. When I used to drink, I'd be going to the bathroom probably three, four, five times a night, but I don't drink alcohol anymore. So I wish I could.
I can't anymore. I just don't, I can't, I can't drink it. I tried.
I actually tried on my birthday or the day before my birthday. I tried to drink alcohol. I bought eight cans of lager, four for my friend, four for me.
We were sitting there. It should have been a nice time. He opened his can, I opened my can, and maybe that's what it is.
Maybe I need to have it in a glass. I'm not even joking. Maybe, because lager tastes better out of a glass than it does out of a can, but Coke tastes better out of a can than it does, well, to me, that's a personal, you know, to me, but lager out of a glass, it's better.
It's more, it's more civilized as well, isn't it, I guess. Oh, maybe that's a mistake, but I don't, I don't have any glasses. Only the ones I'm wearing.
So it'd be out of a cup, which ain't the same, is it? It's not the same. Why haven't you got any glasses, Jason? Well, I don't have an answer for that. I'm not sure.
I don't know. I've got an itchy bum, wait a sec. I'm going to press some paws.
Oh, that was nice. Now, it wasn't itchy bum, it was an itchy coccyx. You know the little, um, the little crease, you go down your back, you know where your coccyx is, and there's that tiny little crease that goes down.
It was just there. I had a little itch and just, oh, that was lovely. It's a place that's never touched.
I mean, I don't even normally touch it. It felt quite nice. I might do that again.
It's just, oh, nice little itch. So I'll leave the light on in the bathroom because for some reason, and I don't know if it's just this country, but we're very backward when it comes to bathroom lights. Have those, you might have it in other countries, I don't know.
And this is something I had when I was a kid. I've lived in, you know, council accommodation. I'm not complaining.
I'm very grateful I've got a home. But I lived in council accommodation when I was a kid quite a few times. And you've got a light and the light switch is on a big piece of string, which is normally just above the bath, you know, just as you go in on the right hand side or whatever.
Depends where the bath is, I guess. With a plastic, white bit of plastic at the bottom and there's a little tied knot. It's very, very ridiculous.
Old. And it clicks really, really loudly. And it's in the echo-iest room of the house.
Unless, of course, you built a dungeon in the foundations of your home. But generally, it's the echo-iest. It's more echo than kitchen, the bathroom.
I don't want to tell everyone knows this. Why am I mentioning it? So it's not a good place to have a loud click. And just like me, most people seem to need to go to the toilet at night as well.
So they get up and click on the switch. Click, click. That wakes me up.
Then they flush the toilet. Again, I don't flush the toilet unless it's a poo. Because I don't want to disturb the neighbours.
But I'm not leaving a poo in there. Just a little bit away. That can wait there for a few hours.
It's in water. It's in the sink. And so in order for me not to disturb the neighbours the way the neighbours have been disturbing me for the last 30 years, different neighbours, I decided I'm gonna leave my light on in the bathroom.
I don't know one person that does that. But I think we used to do it when I was a kid. When I was about nine onwards, I'm sure we used to leave the bathroom light on.
Just because it just be continuously people turn on and off. Plus, I don't understand why people don't have the bathroom light on for safety. You get up, you can see where you're going.
It's you know, the lights on. So you can already see where you're going. You don't need to walk all the way into the thing and turn it on.
You haven't got to turn the bedroom light on. You haven't got to turn the hallway light on. Of course, it depends where your bathroom is.
You know, you might live on a different floor to your bathroom. You know, I'm not saying because you know, don't be walking down the stairs without the lights on. Unless you're stupid.
And you're not. So put the lights on. Yeah, but I haven't got my eyes open anyway.
So what's the matter? Open your eyes. If you're walking down the stairs, open your eyes. Blimey.
Is it that complicated? So I always have the light on in the bathroom because safety. And also, when I get up, I don't know where I'm going to be standing. I don't want to tread.
I didn't want to go to the toilet. And I don't want to disturb the neighbors. So I told you, very judgy, judging everyone else.
Very up with me like a little high horse in my high chair. Oh, perfect. No one else sees.
I leave my bathroom light on. I'm almost Superman. Yeah.
So I do. I leave the living room light on as well now. Just one of those things I do.
Not always, but yeah, I don't. I can sleep in the light. I don't have to.
Things have changed. When I was younger, there was a time when I couldn't sleep if there was a single sound. And I couldn't sleep if there was any light at all.
Now I can sleep when there's a lawnmower in the garden. It might disturb me initially, but I'll fall back asleep. I can sleep with the curtains open with the sun shining on me.
Makes zero difference to me. Night or day, I can sleep. I could lay down now and be asleep quite quick.
I can do the same at 10 o'clock in the morning, three o'clock in the evening. Sleeping is the easiest thing for me. I'm not bragging.
I'm just... And technically, it kind of should be really, shouldn't it? Considering I devote so much of my life to making recordings to help people sleep. Part of the benefit is actually that I believe that I can sleep easily. That's a little secret there.
Don't tell anyone. What? You mean beliefs are actually... Beliefs are powerful? Yeah, don't tell anyone though. What do you mean? The things we believe in actually affect our lives and our minds.
Yes, yes, yes. Don't tell anyone. Don't want anyone to know.
Yeah, exactly. What do you mean? If I believe that I'm not able to sleep, then that might affect the way I can sleep. It might get in the way of me sleeping a nice, nice, nice, nice, sleepy, sleep, sleep.
Yeah, I wouldn't have put it that way, but yeah. Probably would have used less sort of sleepy, sleep, sleep, sleep, sleep words. You mean if I actually believe that I can sleep naturally, it might help me? Yeah, yeah, that's it.
Surely belief isn't that important. It can't be that powerful. You want to bet? Belief is everything.
Belief is the most powerful thing you will ever have in your life. When you believe something, it affects every fragment of your being when you really believe something. So if you believe that you can sleep, oh wait a minute, you mean that we were born to be able to sleep? And you kind of skipped forward a bit there.
I haven't got there yet. Oh, okay, sorry. But you know, the fact is we were born to be able to sleep.
Oh, you mean we were born? Yeah, that was loud. Yes, we were born with the ability to sleep. But how come people lose it? They don't.
They don't lose it. They just perhaps lose the belief or they forget that they're able to do it. They forget that it's inbuilt.
You know, it might take a bit of training if you want to change your sleeping habits, you know, from daytime to nighttime to deal with shift working or night shifts. And of course, that kind of stuff can have an effect and might take a bit of time. Did you mean to say toke? Yes, I did.
Don't think you did. Yeah, I did. I did.
Can I sing a song now? No, you can't. That's not this kind of recording. This is a sleep recording.
I could sing a lullaby. No, thank you very much. No lullabies today.
But maybe some kind of happy lullaby would make up for all your judging and talking down to people about, you know, being considerate. Because that's got to have annoyed some people. No, I wasn't being, I wasn't doing it to annoy people.
I was just explaining my position to why I do it. Why you got to be so judgy though? I'm not being judgy. I'm not being judgy.
I was just talking about why I do it. Why I leave the light on in the bathroom for safety and for also so I don't turn it on and off and disturb the neighbours. Yeah, but there was a real condescending tone surrounding the whole conversation really.
Oh, I didn't mean there to be. You could apologise then. Nope.
Nope, nope, nope, nope. I'm not apologising. Why? I'm sorry, I thought you were going to say why? I said why? I didn't say why.
Yeah, all right, okay. Well, if you listen to me regularly, you know that I'm not trying to be condescending. I'm just talking about my experiences and my experiences may be similar or different from others and that's fine.
Plus, I do see absurdities. I notice absurdities. Here's something I've noticed.
Okay, can you tell me? Yeah, you sound a bit sarcastic there. You really want to hear. Yeah, of course I want to hear.
Yeah, that is rude. Well, I've noticed that there's a current thing. This isn't going to be about woke or BLT or whatever.
It's going to be... It's something I've noticed. Now, on TV, when little girls, and it doesn't seem to matter where they're from, not just little girls, but you know, young females, they seem to say the same and I don't know why. I think maybe it's an internet thing or maybe someone famous spoke this way and now other kids are just copying it.
I don't know. But here it is. I'll do a little interaction.
So, I'll say, Oh, Trudy, you're really good at burying that doll. Oh, thank you. Thank you.
That seems to be... Okay, maybe it's thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
Like that. Not thank you. Thank you.
Now, you're going to notice it now. Yep. I wonder where it originated.
Not the word thank you, because I guess it's been around a while. But I do wonder where the... Thank you. A bit like the... What is it? My bad.
My bad. That seems to be obligatory at least once in every movie or TV show. Someone has to say my bad.
Even adverts. Swear down is another one that was tried to be pushed, but it didn't really work. Swear down.
I've actually heard people say that in real conversations. And they were arguing. One was trying to make out.
Yeah, it's true. Swear down. And I thought, why aren't they both just laughing after him saying that? If there's any way, I mean, I imagine even a war between two nations.
If the two leaders got together and were arguing it out, and one said, it's true. I believe that that part of the land should belong to my country. It used to.
It used to belong to our country. I swear down. Now, they should both be rolling on the floor laughing after him saying that.
And that could result in peace. When people say my bad, why don't... Why doesn't people in the streets stop and just laugh at them? Point at them. He just said my bad.
Maybe I'm wrong. I notice things like that. Because when... If a language, if phrases are prevalent, popular, then they're used quite regularly.
But if it's not popular, then they're used really rarely. Which means that they're trying to introduce it. Why are they trying to introduce it? What age group are they trying to aim at? Is there a cultural section of society that's being aimed at? I don't know.
Because I into the my bad. And that seems to have originated from basketball many, many years ago. So if someone fouled another by accident, my bad.
But I suppose part of that is maybe because they struggle with whole sentences, some of the basketball players. I don't know. And I didn't get through college on intellectuality.
That's the right word, isn't it? Because scholarships can get you through college if you're good at sport, can't it, in America? Maybe in this country, I don't know. So I'll give you an example of me. See, I left school with nothing.
So I couldn't go to college. I was never, didn't have any qualifications. But if I'd have been good at sport, which I wasn't, if I'd have been, you know, eight foot tall, I could have played basketball.
And let's face it, you don't have to be good at basketball to be good at basketball. If you're eight foot tall, you got a kind of a, of course, you got to learn the game and become good. But you got a little bit of an advantage, just a tiny, tiny little bit of an advantage being eight foot tall, where you basically have to lean down to put the ball into the net.
That's an advantage. Knowing that when you've got the ball, no one can get it off you. You just need to learn how to, to be fair, you don't even have to learn how to put it into the net.
Depends what part of the court you're playing. You might not play a part where you're trying to get into the goal or into the net. You're just defence.
So if you're the size of a tree, it's a pretty good defence, isn't it? I know nothing about basketball, but it's not so much basketball. It's not that they're uneducated or anything, because I'm sure they're brilliantly educated, very rich. And I think they do have to go to lessons.
I'm pretty sure basketball, people that get, people that get, I'd say I'm making this up, but I'm guessing if you get a scholarship to college through a sport, you still have to go to lessons, don't you? You don't just get to go and just play the sport the whole time. Or I might be wrong. I don't know.
Am I right or am I wrong? Doesn't matter really, does it? But I think the old my bad in basketball might be more of a case of a time limit. There isn't enough time, but if you accidentally foul someone, and you should say, well, it's a foul. It should be accidental.
Well, obviously, obviously, obviously not all fouls are going to be accidental. If you ever play the sport, especially physical, there are a lot of people out there that like to injure each other. I experienced that at school.
And with hockey, we played hockey and someone hit me in the shins with the hockey bat and the hockey stick. And I chased them with the hockey stick, trying to hit him in the head. And I was banned.
See, I don't let people hurt me. I don't let people in sport, even when I was a kid. I played cricket once.
And the ball, I can't believe I was padded up. This is in junior school, I think, all padded up properly. And I was in, I was banned.
And the person who chucked the ball managed to hit the one leg that didn't have a pad on. Right in the knee. So I chased him with the bat.
Wanted to hit it. I mean, it wasn't really his fault. But I didn't like it.
Wasn't. Although I liked rounders. And you in I think in America, you have, you call it softball, not softball.
Baseball, sorry, baseball. And you actually make out it's a real sport. But in England, it's something you do on a beach or maybe in the summer.
It's just a very light, it's something that men and little children can all play together without anyone getting hurt. That's kind of why we play it. But I know in America, it's, take it seriously in that.
But it is, it was my favorite. It was more, it was so much fun. And sometimes we'd do, I'm wondering where I am.
We'd have rounders and then we'd have softball. Basically softball would just be rounders but it was a softball. And it was so much fun too.
Used to love it. All the girls, boys, everyone would play it together because no one got hurt. The distance between the ball, I think it was a longer distance of chucking the ball as well instead of when it, with cricket, it's a smaller distance.
And you know, you get to run around and stuff. It's great. I know it's based on cricket, baseball was based, you know, copied cricket, but made it, let's face it, I was going to say made it more interesting, but you could basically just stand and do a poo in the middle of the pitch and make it more interesting.
You know, cricket is very, for me, I've always found it really boring. I know a lot of people love it and you're wrong, but it's, it's just, oh. And then one day I went to a cricket match when I was a kid to watch it and it was my uncle was playing.
What a great afternoon. Isn't it weird? I loved it. It was so relaxing.
There was drinks, cakes and just hanging out, watching a nice little bit of cricket. Everyone was having a good time. Andre, what are you actually doing? Why are you making so much noise? I swear he's a bit restless because he keeps sleeping in different places.
Either that or he's enjoying sleeping in different places. I don't know. But I, yeah, I found it very cricket.
I think played for fun or like local teams and stuff is, for me, it'd be more fun because it's more just relaxed. I think if I went to an actual game, a proper match, had to sit down in the stadium and just sit in one seat and I don't know if I'd enjoy it. Why is he still scratching? Why are you doing that Andre? And I just, that's the one thing I've always kind of not really understood about other parts of the world.
There's lots of things, but one of the things is the absolute, I don't know if the words fascination is correct, but for cricket, you know, India, Pakistan, Australia, South Africa and what other places and the, what is it? West Indies. Well, England as well, but we're nowhere near as excitable as those other countries when it comes to cricket, which probably explains why we're perhaps, you know, throughout history not being perhaps as good as the other teams sometimes. Sometimes.
Hugely popular game, cricket. Huge, hugely popular. Billions of people love cricket, love it.
And it's like, it's almost like watching time going to reverse whilst watching cricket. Maybe it's a way to turn back time. Maybe that's why people like it.
Maybe why, maybe that's why there are Indian people that are 120 years old, because they watch cricket a lot. That made sense in my head somewhere. By watching cricket, it turns back time.
So they manage to live longer. That's what I meant from that, I think. Cricket.
No, not for me, not really. I think I'd like to go to a cricket, one day cricket thing, just with somebody, just to see it, you know, just to experience it. I've only ever been to one football match.
And my dream, I have a dream, and here's my dream, is to go to, well, sit in the ring, not sit in the ring, sit ringside for boxing, like big, the big fights. Like go to, it doesn't really matter where, but probably, you know, America, you know, one of the casinos. I'd like to do that.
But I'd like to, if I could do it once, brilliant, but I'd like to be in a position to do it regularly. Just that being my hobby. But in another way, I'm going to bring this recording to an end.
But one of my little things, I thought, I'd like to do hypnosis with boxers, to help them to prepare mentally for the fight. You know, as we were saying earlier, it's what you believe, what you believe, what you believe affects everything. So I would like to do that.
But then if I did that, I'd like to be in a position where I was ringside, not just sitting ringside, but actually there with the fighter in the corner, just to sort of remind him or her of what we discussed and what we planned. You know, even if it was just a touch to the shoulder or a nipple tweak, or so I don't know, just something just to remind them of like as an anchor to remind them of what we discussed and to get that focus back. So I'll be able to watch the fight really close up and also be involved and get paid as well, because they would win with me in the corner.
Every time they would win. Yeah, because they would be indestructible. They would see the opponent moving in slow motion.
They would see every punch long before it was even delivered. So they could duck, dive, block, counter punch, whatever they wanted to do. That's how I'd be training the mind.
And they would know, they'd already won before they even got into the ring. Yeah. Anyway, that's the end of my recording.
The end of this. So thank you very much for listening. Please remember to be kind to yourself because you deserve to be happy.
Do something nice for yourself today. Lots of love. Bye.
