Hello and welcome to Jason Newland dot com. My name is Jason Newland and this is Let Me Bore You To Sleep. Please only listen when you can safely close your eyes.

And with these recordings, I do tend to do one every day now for some reason. So yeah, they're available all over the place.
I don't mean kind of under the sink, you know, behind the shed, although I do have a shed. There is stuff behind it, but it's mainly Andre's stuff that he hides. But you know, I'm on Spotify, iTunes, Stitcher, Castbox, you name it, I'm on most of the podcast providers, whether they be apps or websites.
Also, all of my recordings are available to download from my website for free. And there's even a shortcut where you can just go to the page and download it instantly without having to go through the rigmarole of logging in or, you know, giving any information about yourself. Although you may want to just log in and become a member of the website, just something to do, I don't know, just to say hi, so I know who's downloading stuff.
So yeah, each page, yeah, so if you go to the website, each page, each recording I make is uploaded. It's in the latest recordings. It's also on the first page as well.
If you click on it, you'll have an option to download it at the top right hand side. But also, you can stream it and play it there and then on the website, because the play in built and all you can just instantly download it, which will just download to whatever device you're listening on. So yeah, there's also a download button actually on the player.
So there's three ways to download it for free. And you can play it for free as well. So yeah, that's quite groovy, I think.
It's quite groovy. I've also been working on what there are bulk downloads available to download of all of my, pretty much all of my stuff really. Now I did originally have bulk downloads of 50 recordings.
And I had that for the four main podcasts. Because I got so many recordings, I thought I'll just break them into 50 because I couldn't do the whole lot in one go because it's just too big. The website wouldn't allow it because the file was too large.
Well, even at 50, it's hard. And my internet's not been quite up to scratch as late. So I still got the 50 downloads that I've already done for the Deep Sleep Whisperer and the others.
But the Let Me Bore You To Sleep, I got rid of all the 50 downloads. And I've been uploading downloads. This is really boring, isn't it? This is even boring for me.
I'd have fallen asleep. I would have fallen asleep by now. What is he talking? This is me being interesting.
If that makes any sense. This is me being really who are me, but at the same time, really boring. So this is almost me mimicking a caricature of myself being myself.
I don't know if that makes sense. So anyway, the Let Me Bore You To Sleep own downloads of 20. The reason for that is because it's smaller files.
That's it. It'll take up less space for you to download them. And it's easier for me to upload them, if that makes sense, because it's smaller files.
It still takes quite a while to do. It still takes sometimes like an hour or so to upload 20 files on the zip to the website, or maybe 30, 40 minutes, depends, 50 minutes. So it's still, you know, it's a task that I'm now in the process of uploading this really... I'm like this sometimes when I'm talking to someone in a conversation and like, like, you know, one to one and I just, I just get bored in the actual conversation.
I'm bored now. Can we just, can we talk about marmalade or traffic jams or something like that? Just anything but this. Anyway, that's what I've done.
I've got the... I needed a little break. Now I'm back. I've got my full energy back.
I've got... I think I'm now doing 201 to 220. So I'm uploading that one. So there's 200 episodes of the Let Me Boy To Sleep all available to upload as bulk downloads.
They're all available individually as well. Blimey. Yeah.
So that's, that's, that's what I'm doing. That's, that's, that's what I'm doing. So you can do that if you choose.
You can, it just means that you can put it onto your app. I don't know, your, whatever, tablet, phone, whatever. You can just, you know, make your own little playlist or stick it on iTunes.
I'm not sure. I'm not sure how to do it on iTunes actually, because I don't listen to my own stuff. I do use iTunes.
I like iTunes, but I listen to a lot of motivational speeches, all searching out new stuff. And also like some of the old comedy albums from, you know, 60s, 70s, 50s, even, you know, so they're really old. It's all American.
And there's the English comedy, even in the 80s was, you know, jokes about mother-in-laws and stuff, you know, still really kind of, well, it was, it was outdated, but it was still, it wasn't, it wasn't at the time, you know, it was very old, old fashioned kind of comedy, but America was well ahead with standup comedy. Well, well, well ahead, like decades ahead. However, some comedians from the old variety halls, the old variety comedians, Vaudeville, Vaudeville, Vaudeville, whatever it's called.
Some of them were kind of character comedians, character standups, and they were funny and they didn't just do the same. They had their own act. So Max Miller, who was one of the biggest standup comedians in the country, was the biggest in the country.
So yeah, this is back in, I don't know, 40s, the 1940s maybe. And then in the 70s, there was a culture of standup comedians that just all used each other's jokes. Of course, I'm sure lots of them wrote their own jokes, but they all stole from each other.
Or it was just standard stuff. And it was down to whoever did the best delivery, you know, who became good at it, I guess. And then the new standups came along, you know, the alternative comedy came along, and that was really wacky and chaotic, and the young ones and the comic strip and all that stuff in the UK.
But at that time, we started having people over from America, because standup started to, it kind of, I would say a lot of our standup in those days was very political, it was very, you know, very kind of anti-establishment. And then out of that came different types. So yeah, I'm quite into the history of standup comedy.
I used to have this brilliant book. This is back in 1991. Lenator, Harvey O'Leary, he did give it back to me, but pretty sure he didn't.
He was another comedian. He's one of his, I've said this before, I've told you, is one of his jokes. If he is, it's unlikely that he'd be listening, but I don't even know if he still does comedy.
But if he, he was very funny. Anyway, one of his jokes, he was deadpan, and he was Irish. It's a very deadpan.
And he would say, was it? Oh, I bought, I bought the book, The Joy of Sex. And I read it, but I gave up in the end. It just took too long to grow the beard.
So his delivery was much better than my one. But it was funny. And he had a lot of one-liners like that.
It was great, really. And it was lovely as well. He was kind of like how he was on stage, off stage.
Very dry, very kind of quite slow talker. But he didn't do jokes off stage. He was just, you know, just chatting.
It's kind of the same delivery, but with jokes on stage, which made it quite funny to hear him just talking normally, because it was funny. His delivery was funny. Hey, Jason, how are you today? It was terrible about that bomb that went off in Trafalgar Square.
Yeah, it was, but the way you're talking about it is funny. Stop it. It's not funny, but your delivery is making me laugh.
Oh, that train crash. Stop it. You notice how my accent's gone.
Oh, that train crash. He didn't talk like that. Anyway, the book I had was really good, because it talked all about the original comedian, well, not the original, but the old style comedians from, you know, even before the Second World War.
And then the Coffee Houses and San Francisco. You know, all the era leading up to Lenny Bruce and the people around at the same time as him, and then George Carlin. You know, people like Rodney Dangerfield.
What's her name? She was the most famous female comedian, pretty much in the world, actually. And she was the oldest. I think she was the oldest woman in the world.
I can't remember her name. I know what she looked like. I've got an image of her in my head.
Because she got younger, she got older. Once she hit 200, she just seemed to de-age, I suppose. There's no way to go from there, is it? I suppose once you get to that age, you either start to look younger or you just dissolve, I suppose.
I can't remember her name. How come? She had blonde hair. Well, she had blonde hair 300 years ago.
She had blonde hair. But she was, I mean, she literally was around for a long time, from the 50s. You know, literally, she had the longest comedy career of any person that ever lived, I think.
She was like the Cliff Richard of comedy. And those that don't know who Cliff Richard is, shame on you. Gotta give myself a walking, talking, living doll.
And what was I going to say? Oh, yeah. And here's a couple of things. Back in Rodney Dangerfield, okay.
I don't know if everybody listening to this will know who Rodney Dangerfield is. But he was a famous comedian, and also in quite a few films and stuff. He had a funny face.
You know, he used how he looked to get laughs, because he used to sweat a lot, he had bulging eyes. And he was funny. He also really, you know, had a great delivery.
And he'd talk about not getting any respect. So I used to have his albums, his comedy albums. But he started out in the early days, like really, probably the 50s, maybe the 60s.
But he was around, and he just couldn't get a break. You know, and he was, people told their story about him, how he would go on stage, and he was this big, big man, big, strong. He was young, you know, but he was big, brawny fella.
And apparently, there's some other comics that he was just scary. He used to scare the audiences. And they'd be there sweating.
And they didn't like him, just didn't come across very well. And he quit. And then he decided to give it another go, 10 years later, it might be longer.
And he, well, clearly, you know, he became a huge star, like in America, like, you know, as a comedian. And I should, I should Google it really, shouldn't I just see whether or not my memory is correct. What's his name? Rodney, I do have some messages as well.
Dangerfield. Rodney Dangerfield. Okay.
This is born in 1921. Died in 2004, 82. So it's 21, 31, 40.
Wow, yeah. He, see, they're not telling the truth here. It says he began his career working as a stand up comic in the Borch Belt resort of the Cascule Mountains.
His act grew in popularity as he became a mainstay on late night talk shows throughout the 60s and 70s, eventually developing into a headlining act on the Las Vegas casino circuit. Okay, well, let's have a look at his early life. Let's see if it talks about it.
Ah, see, so he became, he started to, the 60s. He was born in 1921. So he'd been in his 40s when he made it, 40s and 50s, you know, when he, between 40 and 50, when he became popular.
So he did start, it says here, at the age of 15, he began to write for stand up comedians while performing at a resort in New York. At the age of 19, he legally changed his name. He struggled financially for nine years, at one point performing as a singing waiter until he was fired before taking a job selling aluminium in the 50s to support his wife and family.
This is funny, he says, he later quit that he was so little known when he gave up show business, that at the time I quit, I was the only one who knew I quit. See, so I told you, see, he did comedy and then he quit. And then he came back, about 10 years later.
See, so he went back to comedy in the 60s, he was still working as well during the day. Wow. Okay, a lot more stuff.
Apparently he got on the Ed Sullivan show in 1967. And that's where he kind of got his big break. Gloria Estefan, is that who I'm thinking of? No.
Not Billy, not Billy. Dolly. Pardon.

During the day, I have quite a challenging workload. I actually listen to recordings when I just need to relax and not stress out. Your voice calms me down and I'm able to be much more focused.
And Andre, behave yourself. Likewise, your voice calms me down and I'm able to be much more focused and in general, just much more calmer and helps me not to... Have you heard of full stops? And it helps me not to panic when stressed out with the targets I'm expected to reach on a daily basis. Jen, I'll not be rude, but that was a very, very long sentence.

Actually, that may be a new idea for your podcasts. Many people listen to music when working with headphones, maybe create specific recordings to calm people when they are getting anxious at work. What do you think? Well, I think you're causing anxiety for me now with my work.
Don't you think I do enough? I make so many recordings. Now, that is a good idea, but I do do quite a lot already. It's, I don't know how I could actually physically do much more than what I already do.
I produced six different recordings yesterday. Six. Was it six? Let me put you to sleep.

Then I did 147 Relaxation Hypnosis for Stress called Focus on Feeling Relaxed. I did another version of that with music, which was longer. I did number 236 Deep Sleep Whisper Hypnosis.
I did number 148 Relaxation Hypnosis for Stress, Relax and Sleep. So that's a Relaxation Sleep Session. And then I did a version of that with music as well.
So what's that? One, two, three, four, five, six. I mean, technically, it's four recordings that I've made, and then two of them I added music to, but still had to, you know, edit, process, upload, share, make webpages and all that stuff. It's quite a lot.
It's quite a lot to do, you know. You don't realize. It's not that easy.
It's not that easy. I don't know why I'm talking like that. And I've got another message on Skype.
What have I got here? Oh, I have. I've got a shout out. This is from Lilife.
And great picture. She sent a picture of me saying, my creeper stalker eye. My creepy stalker eye.
That's funny. So that's Lilife. She lives in Cambodia.
So she says, I do have a shout out I would love for you to do. This is real. So I told her I'd read it out, but I didn't write it myself, just in case you thought I did.
The shout out is for Jason Newland. In fact, if I'm going to read it out, I should say Newland, because I'm the only person in the whole world, including every member of my family, that pronounces it Newland. And everywhere I go, people correct me.
The shout out is for Jason Newland, a fine bloke who has a great voice and awesome personality. He keeps me laughing while attempting to bore me to sleep. That is until I do go to sleep, which is usually by the third episode.
He also has my little boy David practicing mindful strategies, and is helping him to learn to cope with his anxiety and fears. So yeah, Jason, you should definitely do a self shout out from a crazy fangirl, living in Bangladesh. Wow.

He's, he's cool as well. So hi, David, if you're listening. And yeah, I've got quite a few different techniques I do on my, well, various different recordings.
So I thought about doing some special stuff for kids and that. But you know, what's weird is I didn't like being called a kid when I was a kid. Even though I was a kid, I mean, I didn't want to be called a man, or a woman, or a nurse or a nun.
I didn't, I didn't have need to, I didn't really want a label, necessarily. But to be called a kid, it was, it always didn't seem to be in the context of, as I put down, you know, who being talked down to. And I wrote back to say, brilliant.
I should do that in my next one in a couple of hours. That Jason sounds groovy. She said he is.
And then she put down, she's obviously listening to a recording, Andre farted. Yeah, he does that a lot, unfortunately. It's very naughty of him.
I don't know what to do. I mean, I keep sitting him down. But you know, it's like birds and the bees and farting and all you do.
Plus, he's been naughty today. I took him out for a walk this afternoon. That wasn't himself.
It was quite late. It wasn't even it was What time is it? It's gone eight o'clock, about half eight in the evening. It was still light outside, roughly.
Still lightish, you know. So I take him out. He's asleep, which is weird because he hadn't even had his dinner yet.
Unless he had. I can't remember now. But anyway, I took him out.
I didn't take him out earlier because I was making recordings. So I was just, you know, I'm trying to I like to space out the recordings so that it's more natural. You know, I mean, natural with a higher inflection at the end of each sentence.
I like to I don't like to force it, you know, so I'll just force myself into making a recording. And I tried to do that earlier. And I sat here and I thought, I'm gonna gonna make a kind of a really, really, really boring recording.
And I probably spent about 10 minutes doing it. And I just got bored, which is kind of weird, really. It's kind of funny, I suppose, on some level.
It really bored me. And so I had to stop. And then I tried to do another one.
I think I must, I just stopped there as well. And I ended up doing the Focus on, was it Focus on Relaxation? Which was So I had to go back. Focus on Focus on Feeling Relaxed.
I thought it was quite cool, actually. Because it was just me talking. So the later one, the sleep hypnosis one was me doing hypnosis.
But this one was more me just talking. And it was supposed, it was going to be a very short recording. But it ended up being longer than originally planned for.
So I intended it to be about 10 minutes, ended up being 32 minutes and 19 seconds. The one with the version with music was 51 minutes. So it's kind of, it's, you know, I was quite pleased with it.
That might seem strange. But I got across what I was trying to say. Which is, I guess.
By the way, I'm genuinely yawning. I'm tired. You know, it is what time is it? It's 2.40 in the morning.
And I could quite easily go to sleep. I'm not going to. But I could easily.
I'm also thinking about, talk about adding work to my workload. It's not really work, is it? But you know, I mean, it's, it's my passion. It's my passion.
You know, it's really weird. I think it's probably because, well, lots of things are weird, but maybe it's because I'm a Londoner that I love London town. I think it's because, I'm not sure what it is, but I'm definitely feeling very enthusiastic about what I'm doing at the moment.
I'll just have a drink there. I've gone through periods and where I've just not, I can't, I don't know, maybe lost my mojo a little bit. It still happens every now and then, but usually it lasts for maybe a day or two, sometimes a week.
It's not so much a mojo thing rather than a bit more to it than that. But in the past, I've gone through periods when I just didn't bother making recordings for a few weeks. Or perhaps I'll only make maybe four, five, six recordings in a whole month.
When now, sometimes I do that in a day like yesterday. And then I go through periods when I'd make a recording every single day before going to work. You know, I do a video, I think in particularly about 2011.
I'd make a video in the bathroom on my iPhone. And it'd be echoey and, you know, but I had an audience, people were watching them. So I just uploaded a new video.
It lasted for about 10 minutes. Just, it's very kind of motivational videos. Relaxing but motivational.
You know, you can, you know, you're okay, things are going to be okay, and blah, blah, you know. I can't remember what I used to say, but I need to listen back to them to know. And then I went through this period, okay, this is again 2011.
Because my videos, the YouTube channel was growing, I thought, I'm going to up my game. And I did. I did.
What I did, I did. This is what I did. And I really did it, honestly.
So here it is. What I did was, I lived up the road from the Buddhist center. And I used to rent out the room behind the Buddhist center to use as a therapy room.
Now, I asked permission to use that room, because I had a key to get in there anytime I wanted. So I asked permission to go there at night so that I could do recordings and have some quietness, you know. And the person in charge said, yeah, that's fine.
And then I said, well, can I also use it if there's no one else around? So maybe sometimes during the day, but mainly it'd be at night or on a Sunday. But you know, night time is a good time to do it. So I'd walk up there, it was just at the end of the road, literally, from where I lived, and less than five minutes walk.
So I'd go there, I'd have my camera on a tripod, and it was a video camera. And there'd be, I'd have, what did I have something that played music? So I must have had a CD player. I must have done.
No, I had my laptop. That's it. I had my laptop.
So I took my laptop with me, it was in a bag, probably a carrier bag, probably a Sainsbury, orange Sainsbury plastic carrier bag for life that I used to use back in the old days. Went to a wedding with one once. I went to my friend's wedding and I was the only one there with a Sainsbury's carrier bag.
But it was the summer, hot summer's day. I didn't have nothing else to put my stuff in. I need somewhere to put in packed lunch.
Now, I probably should have put the carrier bag down during the wedding photos. Anyway, it kind of apparently amused everybody. So that's good.
A bit of an advert for Sainsbury's as well, I suppose. So I went to this room behind the Buddhist center. I'm pretty sure it was a Friday night, maybe Saturday about, it was after the pub's closed, probably about midnight.
And I'd go there for maybe two, three hours. And I made some recordings. I made quite a few recordings.
I did the 30-day relaxation plan. I did the seven-day cure-insomnia course. I did a drive-in test course that's lost.
I'd love to be able to just have that, but it's gone. That got lost along the way. I don't know where.
I did some other stuff that's lost as well. But then I did these recordings, which had music. So it was Kevin MacLeod.
And so I searched online to find music that was uncopyrighted, you know, that I could just use. And I found him. So I did some recordings.
A sleep hypnosis recording. I called it Try and Stay Awake Hypnosis Challenge, something like that. And I uploaded it to YouTube.
And then I shared it on Facebook. And then I shared it on every single Facebook group that I was a member of, which was every single pain relief group, every single insomnia group. So I shared this video.
And now, I know it didn't go viral by internet standards, but by my standards, it went viral because it just, I was getting thousands, thousands of views of this video. Suddenly, out of nowhere. And before that, my other videos began.
It was growing, but there was nothing like that. You know, suddenly, I mean, that video got to over 100,000 by 2012. So by the, within about eight months, it was over 100,000, which was my most successful video ever, you know, that I've ever done.
In fact, I suppose it's the most successful recording I've ever done. From that perspective. And then I started doing some others with some music.
And then, because that was popular, more popular than anything I've done, I started to get more people coming to the channel, more people listening. And even now, it might sound like a lie, but it's true. Even, I think, two weeks ago, I had a comment on that particular video.
And someone wrote down, I remember this from 2011 or something, or 2000, yeah, 2012, 2011. It's my favorite video ever. I'm glad I found you again, something like that.
In fact, I'll read it out to you. I just, I get a sense that you think I'm just fibbing. You know what? I do, I do like quite a lot to be fair.
So that is a fair. What are you doing? Oh, it's not giving me my statistics on here. I thought it would do, my channel, your channel.
Okay. So if I look, let's say videos, latest, if I go most popular, oldest, try and stay awake hypnosis challenge. See, I'm now getting, it's very small numbers, but I get 2000 plays a month now on YouTube.
A couple of months ago, it was 1500. So it is growing, but it's very, very little. And try and stay awake hypnosis challenge.
It's on here. It's the top video out of all of them. And I've got probably six, 700 videos on there, maybe more.
It's try and stay awake hypnosis challenge, 4000 views. And this channel, YouTube channel is two years old. And so I'm going to click on there, but I've got the music down.
So I should be able to see what people have written. Hear that? Hello. Okay.
All right. This is a week ago. This was the first, one of the first videos I ever watched when I first started learning about and getting into hypnosis nearly a decade ago.
It's just as good as I remember. God, this takes me back. Makes me feel, you should look at me as well.
I'm so much younger then. You can see a sign of receding hairline over the front. I didn't admit it.
I had my hair in a way of just, you could see the way I was just acting like I was pretending not to be aware that I was receding. I wasn't letting it get in the way of my life. I even look fairly slim there as well.
I'm not, but I'm wearing a black top. That's well and truly gone. So what happens to me is because I'm not fashionable and I wear clothes out.
And you might think, nah, no, seriously. No, I'll never believe anything I say. I don't know why.
Maybe it's because I lie so much. I don't know. Yesterday, I don't know why I'm telling you this because this is embarrassing actually.
I took off my underpants and I thought it was, oh, I thought I was looking at the leg hole, you know, and I realized I wasn't. Massive hole where my bum is. I'm talking, they have to be chucked out.
