#335 Let me bore you to sleep - Jason Newland (18th February 2020)

So Andre is the my co-presenter of this episode because he is hyperactive today. He's been like this for a couple of days actually. Come on then.

You want a cuddle? No. He's basically every time I move he jumps out of his bag, runs out of his bag and he follows me around. And he keeps trying to get out the front door.

Scratching at the front door. He's running around. He can't settle.

He's very restless and I don't know what's going on. I don't know why. And you know I do communicate quite well with him but there's certain things I can't really communicate with him about.

You know. I don't know what the heck he's doing now. So his plan will be to probably make as much noise as possible during this recording.

So if you hear in the background and if you don't want to hear in the background then I suggest you just press the stop button because his little feet running around is going to be continuous. I can just feel it. I can feel it in my stool or my waters.

I can feel it in my stool. I can feel it in my waters. It's just continuous.

And he did it earlier when I did a recording. Relaxation, hypnosis, stress, anxiety, panic attacks. I did one and I focused on the be kind hashtag be kind which is on Twitter at the moment today.

So I started talking about that you know the idea of being kind to others and so on. And he did not stop. He wouldn't stop just running around clanging and clinging and clonging.

In the end I had to put him into the bedroom and close the door. And now he's chosen to eat some dry food. If you can hear that crunching away and he sneezes when he's eating it.

I can't know. I don't know if he's in distress or what and I'll you know I keep cuddling him but he seems okay. I've been massaging his body just like pressing on his tummy and his back and his you know his neck just to make sure he's not in pain or anything like that.

I just want to say press. I don't mean hard. I mean just gently you know gently pressing his body just to make sure because if he had any kind of pain he'd be going get off.

But nothing you know he seems to be physically fine. And I don't get it. I don't know what it is.

Maybe he's coming on heat or something. I don't know. It's February.

It's not even like it's nice weather. It's been quite bright today to be fair. Well yesterday.

But it's not warm and he insisted on going out again last night so I took him out.

I don't know what time it was about half eight, eight o'clock and he had me walking around for about half an hour and I just didn't know what just like he took me into the field and he wanted to walk into the field and I was trying to sort of let him know that I didn't want to walk in a field in the dark and it was full of water and everything so I just no and he was like oh yeah but so yeah but he's the one that doesn't like water but he wanted to

go into a field that was full of water so I don't know if he's maybe smelling females maybe there's some female ferrets out there maybe a neighbor's got a ferret you know it could be possible it could be like a local person who's got themselves a little ferret and he's smelling the ferret and he wants to get to it to sort of make friends or something I don't know a lot of people have took a real shine to him over the years so it's possible that someone might think yeah or someone one of the kids

might have just badgered their parents on and on and on and on and on until the parents gave up and got them like a little ferret to have so that might be what it is other than that I don't know why he keeps wanting to get out of the front door because he hasn't been like that for ages and ages and normally it's sort of more summertime that he's like that there's a real restlessness of him I don't know what it's I don't he's just running from room to room he's just pushed the he's he's

just gone and he's pushed the bathroom door wide open for no reason he's not even gone into the bathroom he's just pushed the door wide open why I don't know I can't figure it out oh dear well one of the things I've done today is I posted a thing on Facebook by the way my YouTube if you I've got quite a few um people follow me on Facebook but on Twitter not that many so if you want to follow me on Twitter it's my Twitter name is at Jason Newland just all one well it's always

a one word isn't it at Jason Newland that's my Twitter and I always post all my new recordings on there as well as on Facebook I quite like Twitter probably more than Facebook in some ways because I follow particular people um like famous people so I follow well also a lot of boxers you know but also some sort of celebrities and comedians and stuff like that so I quite like you I quite like Twitter for that and but Facebook you know I know I get I've got more people following me on on the various Facebook

pages that I've got I'll be honest him running around like that is annoying me I don't know what it is about it because it's because I like to I don't care what he does when I'm not doing a recording but when I'm making a recording I want it to be quiet as quiet as possible at least I don't I want any background sound to be coming from outside the building you know not inside my home and he just I find it a bit distracting and it's it's kind of funny really especially when I'm making a

relaxation session and I'm getting wound up by him it's like this is not this isn't right is it this is a bit strange so I've started to beef up the the process of converting my shed into a recording studio so the shed I got and I got that out of the the PayPal gifts that I've received over the last few months I paid that paid for the shed so thank you everyone that's helped me and so with the shed buying a shed having it put up and also the soundproofing that I've already bought for it

comes to over 400 pound and I put a thing on my website and also on Facebook asking well basically just posted my wish list so I've got I've got a specific wish list on Amazon which is just for these soundproofing strips that I buy that I'm going to be using to I've already started using but I'm going to be soundproofing the shed with and I put down that I need a hundred I might need more actually I've already ordered I had two came in today I ordered 10 last week and I ordered another 10 today

and they're £5.

99 each so I've they take a few weeks to actually get delivered because I don't I think they're coming from another country they must be unless they're like producing them to order so I've got this you know when they come I know exactly what I'm going to be doing I've got you know when you've got something in your head and it's planned you kind of know practically precisely what you're going to do and that's how I feel with the soundproofing I'm basically going to blitz it with soundproofing so I'm going to do the inside first

which I figured would take before probably about 20 the first layer probably about 30 20 it's between 20 and 30 strips to do the first layer inside I'm probably going to do three layers inside three layers thick and then I'm going to do the outside but I'll only do one layer on the inside to start with then I do one layer outside of the shed and then once the out once that's done it should have a degree of soundproofing well it will have a degree of soundproofing but at the moment there's big holes there's holes

in the in the wood so you know there's gaps between the the planks of wood it's not you know if it was outside it needs some work done to seal it to seal it kind of closed and then I'll put another layer inside I'm going to put a layer on the floor so I'm basically going to make it so soundproofed and then on the outside I'm going to put I'm going to keep adding layers so it's going to be almost like like a little nest like a bee's hive it's layer after layer so when I'm

in there I won't be able to hear anything and I'll be able to sing at the top of my voice and no one will be able to hear anything so that's the that's that's my it's not just my goal it's what I'm going to do like the outside that part maybe it would take a year or two to grow but it will be I'm hoping I'm hoping I'll be able to start using it as a recording studio by by April I hope within a couple of months and have the outside done have it like pretty

well sorted by the summer by the end of the year have it at a level where it's working well where it's you know really soundproofed by the end of the year and then during next year I'll start adding layers onto it to make it completely like you know absolutely soundproofed where nothing can get through which would be quite groovy so that's the plan and I'll get a light on in there as well and it will be yeah it'll be good and admittedly I don't um I don't know I quite I don't really want to sit

in a little shed in some ways and make recordings all the time because I quite like making these recordings when I'm sitting in my living room and there's a little bit of background sound but just to have the space to look at my bookcase and look at my bottle of water and my punch bag and see Andre when he's being naughty and he's not making too much noise that's not too bad and hearing a radiator clicking for no reason even though it shouldn't be clicking because it's just a radiator and watching airwolf on television on

mute yeah yeah so that that's what I've got at the moment so that's my new focus as far as um getting this done but I'm I'm very limited as far as I think I'm you know just you know for the soundproofing side of things so I've ordered 10 no 20 of these um strips so that'll definitely get me a bit of soundproofing in the shed but to get it all on the outside and to to get it workable proper functioning I reckon another hundred and I've already had one ordered from someone online and that was

that was really groovy that's cool thank you and so yeah so it's just a case of just waiting for them to be delivered and they're really what's really good about them is they're long and they've got adhesive on the back with uh some paper stuff that you strip off but it's really strong adhesive it'll basically it'd basically stick to anything I think it would stick to Vaseline it's that strong so really really it would it uh stick to yogurt I don't know what I think it's something that's really slippery an octopus yeah it'd stick to

an octopus a soundproofed octopus so yeah I think it's going to be good and I've got four of those strips actually on this wall on this side of the the room because I've got lots of soundproofing the other side of the wall or the other wall the other side of this room and I guess I'm probably going to fill this wall up with soundproofing and then I've got one board which is a white board to you know which you can use marker pens on and I'm going to get a few of those and put them

on the walls because I'm going to be the plan is to start using them for planning recordings working out some ideas and that kind of stuff you know so should be quite cool I just want to I guess I just want to make it I want my home to be all about the recordings I do because this is this is what my life is about so I want my home to represent that as well so I'd like to have a few of those white boards dotted around the place and there's one probably one two three

probably six on this wall one on the wall over there one on the wall over there one on the wall there and so I'll have probably about 10 to 15 of these boards around the flat see not all of them will be me working stuff out some of them will have my stats on them and targets you know that kind of stuff so that'll be that'll be cool so that's that's just a gradual thing that I'm looking to do but it's all part of the process of making this uh well hopefully being more productive and

improving what I do I hope I hope oh yes I do I indeed hope so I'm going to continue it was a bit weird I was watching airwolf there's all these people trying to hold the helicopter down why would they think they could hold a helicopter down there's not a little helicopter it's airwolf and airwolf airwolf the bloke the man airwolf he he just got out of airwolf the helicopter why why didn't he stay in there it's like night rider doesn't have to get out of his car car's indestructible why why would night rider need

to get out he can just stay in the car can't he I don't know what was that oh it's an optical illusion so yeah um so that's the that's the plan that's the plan I'm a man with a plan kind of oh so Andre seems to have settled down now I think he's gone into his bag again he's gone to sleep guaranteed if I moved if I stood up he would get up he'd just run out he would any kind of any movement and he'll be out of that bag in fact I know he's listening

right now I almost feel like I've got x-ray vision and I could see through the bag and he's there with his eyes open he's listening listening and I said to him in fact I got the time wrong when I said it to him because it's much later than that but I said to him I'm not taking you out at one o'clock in the morning the fact is it was two o'clock just half two now I said I'm not taking you out this time in the morning and I won't I'm not going outside the the lights

are off this is literally pitch black outside there's no lights there's no street lights on see they used to be I'm not talking about this road because I've not known this road for that long it's only been what five years in April half a decade I've been living here nearly in April half a decade can you believe it I was a young man when I moved in here and I think that's partly what spurs me on to make recordings because I've got a little bit older I started thinking I should sort of make the most

and of my time and do as much as I can while I can and just you know maybe that's why I'm making more recordings than I've ever done in my life you know in a in a month I've never done this many in a month that I have been doing the last sort of three four months it's yes I mean even last last month or January for those that love to hear about my stats I had 116 000 downloads and it's like I made quite a few recordings oh that was boring wasn't it that really

was boring that was a boring sentence I had 116 000 downloads and I made quite a few recordings wow I mean even I nearly fell asleep during that sentence so yes it's quite it's I don't know I don't think I would class myself as prolific because for me prolific would be probably making 10 recordings a day but not only would that be prolific I think the word unrealistic comes to mind simply because sometimes I'll be in bed all day and night for maybe three or four days so you know a ton of I'll make the

most of the days when I'm got lots and lots of energy but I think the deep sleep whisper recordings will be a lot better quality once I can get the soundproofing done I could just hear people say oh my god he's still talking about soundproofing I mean you know what's he doing is he either he's he's talking about soundproofing or he's talking about his stats or he's lisping or he's whistling when he talks he's yawning or you know just why can't he just do exactly what he did two years ago and do exactly the same

recordings as two years ago well yeah perhaps I should listen to some of the earlier recordings to see what I used to do I don't know it was a mixture because my original plan was to actually do sleep sessions like you know proper like sleep hypnosis stuff in this podcast and just do it in a format that was conversational but also trancy but then I kind of moved away from that idea and ended up doing this which can be a variety of different things I suppose the one thing I haven't done as much of as

I would like to do in the future is some stories I'd like to tell more stories but my own stories you know I don't mean like real things that have happened but made up stories like bedtime stories I suppose so that's where the whiteboards will come in handy because then I could start getting creative and I find I seem to be more creative when I'm standing up rather than sitting at a desk you know if I'm looking at a piece of paper I feel less creative than if I'm standing up writing something down on a

board because it's something about the physical movement movement that helps me move it helps me get from one place to another I don't know I think it's maybe the stimulation of the blood circulation moving from the brain I don't know possibly could be so that's I'd like to have like a big storyboard on the wall you know sort of a start a middle and an end maybe a few things to remind me and maybe some names written down so I could remember who's who and what's what because the thing is if I'm making it up

as I go along which I do with most of the things most of my recordings it can get a little bit confusing as you may have noticed in some of the previous recordings that I have previously recorded so yeah it'll be I think it'll be fun be fun to do that to do more of that to yeah to do more yeah I'd like to do more that'd be nice to do more so that's what I'm going to plan to do more so yeah that'd be cool that'd be yeah it will be groovy very groovy why

not why not indeed be here so I don't know it just seems you know I partly want to be professional or I was going to say more professional but I'm not really professional at all am I in my delivery I suppose I'm quite unprofessional in a sense of well I don't know I mean a professional just means you get paid for it doesn't it but for me professional means being really really good being proficient being um out I don't know about outstanding being but being the credible or being just you know just being really good

I guess so I don't know why would class because this isn't really because it's just made up as I go along and it's just I don't know I do wonder sort of where this podcast is actually going but then I get messages from people telling me how much they love this podcast and how much it helps so I feel almost an obligation to continue it because of the positive feedback I get from it so I probably will continue I'd like to have a thousand recordings because I'm at 300 and who knows what 330 something recordings

of this podcast I'd like to get to the thousand mark so yeah yeah that'd be nice get to the thousand and get to a thousand for the deep sleep whisper hypnosis podcast and a thousand for the relaxation hypnosis for stress and anxiety podcast so yeah a thousand for those three podcasts and I'd like to get ideally I'd like to reach a thousand downloads for each of those podcasts daily although I'm not far off for for a couple of them but I just because at the moment if I do kind of three recordings a day I

get at least 4000 downloads a day and it's growing and you know it's like everything does except that one part of my body that I want to grow but it won't and of course my feet I'm talking about my feet now my brain I've got a size 10 feet and if anyone is wondering no it's not true so I'm sure I told you a story the other day but it was a recording that didn't work and I lost the recording but I can't remember what it was but it's proper it's gold it was a nugget

of gold that recording was but it's lost forever I should have done the outtakes I should keep my outtakes but I don't I edit not that it's really outtakes because because because because yesterday's recording I I got the giggles while I was recording I just remembered and that should have been called be kept awake and disturbed from sleep but usually I don't I don't end up laughing hysterically for no reason sometimes although I did see something what did I see I saw something on telly that was very funny what was it what was it oh

it's Kirby Enthusiasm with Larry David very funny very funny show I've been watching it from the start and he's I think he's done 10 seasons I think I think and it's really funny and he's now got a new one new season coming out I think he's released three so far so the fourth one will be this week sometime and it's just it's ridiculous the the scenarios and the arguments he gets into with people is it's just funny it's just ridiculous he's uh pretty my favorite comedy actor actually but just because of that tv show because

he's just very funny it's just funny so if you haven't seen Kirby Enthusiasm it is adult comedy as far as it's you know lots of naughty words and I suppose adult themes as far as the conversations go but uh it's very funny very funny there's one bit where um he goes to the paper to get the obituary printed for a family member you know who'd just passed away and the the obituary in the newspaper should have written should and he gave it in and they misspelt it it should have said beloved aunt but they misspelt

it they misspelt the word aren't which I wouldn't have even thought about that it was just it's just it's very funny and then there's a bit um I think one of the funniest parts of the show is when um he visits his dad and I think he's Larry's been away filming or something for a couple of months and he comes back and he sees his daddy said you're all right he said yeah yeah everything's fine yeah and then he sort of said so where's where's mum then oh you know yeah yeah uh yeah where is

she uh yeah she died and he goes what yeah she died she died and what is that's like yeah your mum died why didn't you tell me well I know you were busy and you had things to do it's like the weirdest conversation ever it's very very funny it's just it's just ridiculous ridiculous but very funny so I suppose it's just that's the kind of things that I I like all kinds of comedy really um there was a tv show now you might not know this or you might not remember it it was in 1994

and it was it had um the man from Atlantis or Bobby Ewing whatever you want to call him because he kept changing his name didn't he but Bobby Ewing was in it Bobby Ewing from Dallas and I never realized his name was Bobby Ewing I just used to know him as a man from Atlantis and then he moved from the swimming pool to working as an oil baron with his brother um Drew Drew Ewing so and he was in this tv show Bobby Ewing where he played I think um um I don't know if he

played the father of this this young lad no wait a minute I'm pretty sure pretty pretty sure the person that was in the show with him was also played JR's son in some of the like real late later episodes of Dallas we're talking probably 1989 maybe 1990 those those times when um Dallas's Dallas's JR Ewing's son came along and he was like I don't know 20.

so Bobby Ewing first appearance all right 1978 this was in it from 1978 to 1985 then 1986 to 1991 then he was in it 1996 1998 1999 and then 2012 to 2014 I'm not sure and I don't remember it being on in 1996 I genuinely do not 1996 storylines yeah what how weird so this is 2012 Bobby has remarried again this time to a woman named Ann Smith and is the owner of South Fork Ranch according to the terms of Miss Ellie Ewing's will Miss Ellie has deeded South Fork to Bobby while she was still

alive thereby suggesting a continuity error Bobby has retired from the oil business believing that alternative energy is the future a belief he shares with his now grown adopted son Christopher and is content to raise cattle on the ranch he has decided to sell South Fork due to his contracting a uh gastrointestinal uh stomach thing and fears that he will not be around to keep the ranch safe and then once he and uh discovered all of that Bobby is shot 75 is what Bobby is shot wait wait a minute because the result of this that he

will not be to keep the ranch safe and the Christopher was not yet ready to take over from once again this brings him into contact with his older brother JR and his nephew John Ross Ewing too who has discovered oil on the ranch Bobby is shocked and saddened when he finds out his brother JR is dead when JR's will is read Bobby receives JR's entire boot collection on the connection and the condition that he keeps him clean everything he keeps his own also an old letter from Miss Ellie who feels that John Ross gets half

of South Fork Bobby doesn't agree but goes along with it for now although it later leads to some disputes between Bobby and John Ross Bobby also learns that his worth first wife Pam has also passed away so so it's a bit strange wow Bobby Ewing or the man from Atlantis Atlantis was born in 1949 oh i found it i found it step by step was the sitcom step by step funny it was funny step by step is an American television sitcom that aired for seven seasons it ran on ABC as part of its ggif friday

night lineup from September 20th so we we say 20th we don't say September 20th in England we say we have the th at the end of it 20th like 31st not 31 um 1991 to August the 15th 1997 then moved to CBS where it aired from September 19th 1997 to June 26 1998 Patrick Duffy and Suzanne Summers star as single parents each with three children who spontaneously marry during a Jamaican vacation after developing a budding relationship while Frank is Carol's client resulting in their becoming the heads of a large blended family uh so i look

Suzanne Summers Angela Watson Brandon Call Christine Sasha it's Sasha yeah Sasha Mitchell now i remember television here we go Dallas where are you yeah yeah so Sasha he was really funny in that show and he played Cody Lambert in the show but before that he played James Beaumont James Beaumont whose father was JR Ewan see and his stepmother was Sue Ellen Ewan and Callie Harper Ewan ah but his stepmother his stepmother Callie he ended up i think falling in love with her if i remember rightly let me just check yeah James came to Dallas to

seek out the father he never knew he had James shocked everyone when he announced that he was JR's son at a public family dinner with all of the Ewans present JR embraced James as his son but James proved to be as manipulative as JR himself James resented his father's interference in his life from controlling James's business dealings and to attempting to break up James's relationship with Michelle Stevens seeking revenge on JR James conspired with JR's wife Callie and blocked JR's release from a sanitarium James eventually married Michelle but he later learned that his first marriage

to Deborah Lynn was never dissolved further Deborah Lynn had his child James Richard Beaumont Jr nicknamed Jimmy James decided to stay married to Deborah Lynn and annulled his marriage to Michelle however he ended up moving back east with Deborah Lynn and Jimmy to escape control of JR so he was only in it from October 1989 until April 1991 that's yes a year and a bit wasn't it October November December January yeah a year and a half so here let's read about Callie yeah here we go storylines i remember this Callie is a waitress at a

hotel in Haleyville Arkansas JR meets her while on a hunting trip with his brother Bobby that's the man from Atlantis Bobby Ewing and their sons and JR gets Callie in bed but when JR is discovered by her crazed brothers he's arrested and convicted of a terrible crime after Callie's brothers break JR out of prison Callie lies that she is pregnant and her brothers force JR into a shotgun wedding i remember this so clearly well i remember it it was in this barn or something wow so this was like 1988 whoa brilliant it was it was

good stuff JR eventually escapes from Haleyville and returns to Dallas i remember i'm sure he gets out and he escapes and he makes a phone call and he gets a helicopter to come and pick him up but Callie follows him she intends to make their marriage work but finds that JR wants nothing to do with her seeking the help of JR's first wife Sue Ellen Callie tricks JR into renewing their wedding vows when she claims she is pregnant same trick twice and JR fell for it JR discovers her ruse but decides to remain married to

her because his son John Ross has become fond of her the marriage is short lived by the time Callie divorces JR she really is pregnant with his child well that's a turn up for the books isn't it who'd have seen that coming in an attempt to leave JR Callie lies that his son James is the child's father and JR allows Callie to leave Dallas after discovering the child's true paternity JR decides to track Callie down and finds that she has created a new life for herself in Florida with their child and her new boyfriend realizing

how happy Callie is JR decides to leave her in peace in the series finale or conundrum JR dreams of what life would have been like without him in the dream Callie okay i'll read a little bit isn't it weird sometimes reading stuff but reminding my i remember that i actually do remember that because i used to love Dallas you know i used to watch it well i suppose it's on telly it's what else you're going to do with it i really used to like it a lot and you know i had cliffhangers which was sort

of part of the process part of you know soaps tv soaps back then there was cliffhangers i mean nowadays you know we start um what's it called with doctor who it'd be a cliffhanger you wouldn't know what was going to happen so doctor who would be about to be eaten by a dalek or kissed or whatever by a dalek and suddenly go well well we'll we'll we'll we'll we'll we'll we'll we'll we'll we'll and you have to wait a whole week to find out whether or not he did actually get off with the dalek and

maybe they had babies and stuff and he's like oh what's gonna happen what's gonna happen and then you know you'd have to watch it the next week to find out now they'll have a like try and have a cliffhanger sort of similar kind of thing and then they'll have the credits and then i'll say next week and i'll show you clips and what's going to happen next week and you can see very clearly that doctor who has got out of that particular predicament unscathed i don't know they just they don't i don't i tell you

what one of the best tv shows for cliffhangers was sons and daughters it's an australian soap opera i used to watch it in the 80s and it was fabulous it was sure dramatic really really just they knew how to do cliffhangers on that show brilliant so anyway i think i might have gone over yeah gone over time again 68 minutes so thank you very much for listening thank you for falling asleep with my boredom hopefully and i'll speak to you next time so please remember to be kind to yourself because you deserve to be happy
