About me

Whatever you are struggling with right now, let me help you find your inner-calm and create some self-acceptance.

My name is Amanda Hudson and I am a qualified Hypnotherapist and CBT/REBT therapy.

I have a therapy rooms in Aylesbury, Amersham and Bicester. I offer a mixture of hypnotherapy, behaviour therapy and mindfulness, that is individually tailored to help you with any problems you are experiencing.

Hypnotherapy and mindfulness can achieve healthy, positive changes quicker than standard counselling, and Rational emotive behaviour therapy (REBT) helps you to understand the way you are thinking. Combined, these techniques allow you to start living life to the full sooner. It Is my aim to empower clients to have confidence in themselves, and to make permanent changes in their lives for the better. We will do this by working together to build the correct tools that will help you through your current and future challenges without slipping back into old negative patterns.

I also include elements of other therapies such as standard cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) to get maximum results. The main issues I treat are listed below but please contact me for anything that you need help with and I will be happy to confirm if I can meet your needs or refer you to someone who can.

Further information

"Having lived with a severe phobia of the dentist I knew I had to get some help. A friend recommended Amanda, and although sceptical I arranged an initial consultation. Amanda immediately felt she was able to help, and put me at ease. The sessions were amazing and after each one I felt my phobia decreasing.
Today I attended a dental session for the first time in years, and felt calm and with no hint of panic or fear - I even had 2 fillings with no need for anaesthetic! I will forever be indebted to Amanda who is very professional and warm person."

"I have now lost nearly 4 stone through hypnotherapy with Amanda, she's amazing at getting to the core of any issue you have and gives you a fresh perspective to use for any situation. Would recommend her to anyone."

"In a word, Amanda is amazing. She has helped my teenage daughter with her anxiety and self esteem issues in a way I never thought possible. From barely being able to get out of bed, she is finally getting her life back thanks to this wonderful lady, and for that I cannot praise her enough."

"I had sessions with Amanda about a needle phobia.. Before I had the hypnotherapy I couldn't have blood taken or injections even after 2 sedative tablets, still hysterically crying until after I left. After I was able to do them without even shedding 1 tear. Which still seems like a miracle to me. I am very thankful as if it was not for Amanda it would have made a very traumatic time for me even worse. I would highly recommend her to anyone I know."

"I cannot thank Amanda enough for how much she has helped me. I had a number of issues ranging from sleep, self doubt, relationships and just feeling unsure of life. I tried counselling and it didn't work but hypnotherapy with Amanda has just changed my perspective on things. I feel happier and more secure within myself. I will miss my sessions!!"

"Amanda is great. I really enjoy my sessions with her each specifically tailored to helping my pain issues. She also helped by giving me techniques to use in everyday life. My sessions were very relaxing and I felt much better afterwards. She's kind, caring and really takes the time to understand your issue. I highly recommend her."

"Amanda is fantastic - very welcoming, calming and enables me to understand more about my issues. She has helped me to feel positive and change my life for the better. I love my hypno nights with Amanda and look forward to them every week. Would highly recommend Amanda to anyone who is struggling with certain aspects of their lives or just for some relaxation. Thanks Amanda - your one in a million!! xx"

"Amanda is very welcoming and professional. She is really helping me understand my anxiety and how to control it. Didn't know if I was a believer at first but hypnotherapy actually works!"

"I have never had hypnotherapy before but Amanda was amazing, she has helped me with relaxation and I was able to get on a plane and fly this year without having to take tablets!"

"I have had numerous with sessions with Amanda and she is brilliant, she makes you feel extremely relaxed, I had been struggling to sleep for 3 weeks due to stress and after just one session with Amanda she completely cleared my mind and I haven't had trouble sleeping since! Would strongly recommend!!"

Can I be hypnotised?
Yes - if you want to be! Some clients with trust and control issues may find this more difficult. However, we will work together to build a trusting relationship to allow you to relax.

Will I still be in control?
Yes - and no I won't make you cluck like a chicken! People who do strange things during stage hypnosis do so because they want to, and are picked for this exact reason. Hypnotherapy is a natural state of relaxation, where you will remain conscious and in control. You will resist suggestions you don't agree with or feel uncomfortable about. However, topics of suggestion will be agreed on before we start a session.

Is hypnosis an altered state of consciousness?
No, it is usually a state of deep relaxation similar to meditation.

Can I get stuck in hypnosis?
No, you will be awakened during a session, and would eventually come out of it in other settings. We all experience trance-like states though our everyday life. Have you ever been driving a regular route and not remembered even getting to your destination? Have you ever read the same line in a book over and over and not taken it in? These are examples of hypnosis that are completely natural and happen to everyone.

These are just a few questions you may have. Please feel free to contact me with any others and I will be happy to answer them for you.
